  1. Welcome to our plastic playground Alec.
  2. I'm surprised to see you've started this project during the summer Harry, as that is not your usual modus operandi. I look forward to another spectacularly detailed model from your workbench.
  3. Had a regular 4 month check up today. Lost another 2 lbs..... down to 227. BP is perfect 120 over 80 (the medication works). I'm good to go for hopefully a few more miles.
  4. That looks great Chad, I love the color. Those Galaxie kits are great.
  5. I heard from an old friend from about 25 years ago who moved to FL. It was great to catch up on each others news over those years. Nothing like good, old friends.
  6. That's looking great in that light blue color Ray. I'll be working on one of these kits too soon.
  7. Nice job Jim. Love the color.
  8. This is a Modelhaus resin 1958 Buick kit that I painted with Pactra RC paint sprayed over Duplicolor white primer and then clearcoated with Duplicolor clear. http://images14.fotki.com/v437/photos/9/3018309/12461306/THREEQUARTERFRONT800x596-vi.jpg http://images45.fotki.com/v1450/photos/9/3018309/12461306/SIDEVIEW800x596-vi.jpg http://images58.fotki.com/v286/photos/9/3018309/12461306/THREEQUARTERREAR800x596-vi.jpg
  9. Welcome to our plastic playground John, you'll like it here. I'm an ex-New Yorker from L.I. It just got too darn expensive to live there anymore so I moved 9 years ago. Warning points are something you "earn" here by being a bad boy...... Using foul language... Starting trouble by insulting people... etc... The Forum Moderators will let you know when you "go over the line".
  10. That sounds like Bayshore Hobbies off of Sunrise Hwy. We used to call it "Robber Bob's". The owner was a guy named Bob who would sit on his stool at the front counter and wouldn't move for anything. Inventory was stacked 6 feet high all around the store and in front of the shelves holding the models. You couldn't get to the models and had a tough time even seeing what was on the shelves. Bob would not move his butt off that stool to help you find anything. His prices were "on the high side" hence the name "Robber Bob's". I don't know how the place stays in business with such lousy customer service from the owner.
  11. I've bought and reworked, or will rework close to 2 dozen promos over the last several years, but I've never bought any that had any warping to them at all, except for 2... a '58 Dodge with a very slight upward slope of the front side trim, and a '58 Pontiac with the same problem. All of the '58 Pontiac promos that I've seen have the same issue.
  12. That looks fabulous Art. Great job.
  13. I use a small pair of curved baby nail scissors. They work just fine.
  14. Same to all Dads from me too.
  15. OK... Here's a '55 Pontiac diecast... http://images53.fotki.com/v1502/photos/9/3018309/13384669/NTIACDIECASTMODELFRONT1024x751-vi.jpg A '56 Pontiac promo as a mild custom... http://images45.fotki.com/v1450/photos/9/3018309/12461295/56PONTIACFINISHED21024x763-vi.jpg and a '57 Pontiac promo I redid... http://images53.fotki.com/v108/photos/9/3018309/13026524/1957PONTIACMODEL31024x748-vi.jpg I've also got a '58 Pontiac promo to redo, and a '59 Pontiac partial gluebomb to refurbish.
  16. You sure are on a roll Al. Another nice one.
  17. Find a product called Weatherall in a well-stocked hobby shop or model railroad hobby store. Shake up the bottle real good and dip the wood in the bottle. It will give the wood the aged look you are looking for. Repeated dipping will make it more and more aged looking.
  18. Nice save and conversion Gregorz. I had one of these cars about 15 years ago. If you don't mind, the top section of the taillight lenses should be amber.
  19. I followed this all through your build thread Ira........ I still say "You're a sick man".......... Sick in a good, creative way of course. Great job as usual.
  20. Another good looking car Al.
  21. Welcome to our plastic playground Brian. I'm an ex-Long Islander and lived in West Islip for 31 years until the high R.E. taxes drove us out. You'll really love it here. Have you heard of, or joined, the L.I.A.R.S. Club? (Long Island Auto Replica Society) They meet on the third Thursday of every month at the Henrietta Acampora Senior Center in Blue Point. Here's a LINK to their website. http://www.liarsmodelcarbuilders.com/
  22. That is an excellent looking dragster Bernard. I have those same PE wheels that I'm planning to use on a future build of a T-Bucket rod. Is it necessary to cut apart the spokes or did you do that on your own?
