  1. What primer are you using? The paint needs something to "bite" into.
  2. Very nice Phantom/custom.
  3. Looks cool! But, I bet you knew you would Dew it justice. (rim shot)
  4. Very cool!
  5. pretty cool project idea, keep going, you are on the right track it appears.
  6. Do not dilute the super clean, use it full strength for stripping paint. I have left parts in the stuff for days and days with no ill affect to plastic, but I would not suggest using in it on resin.
  7. That previous soak would not have hurt for sure, but you will still need to let it soak a good while. At minimum overnight, likely longer. Just be sure to maybe even hit it with some 2400 - 3200 sandpaper to break the surface up a little more.
  8. Oh sure, just one more project on the forum that proves just how inadequate of a builder I really am! LOL Great work.
  9. That primer takes some work as it is pretty strong. You may not only have to soak a few days, you may have to pull it out and scuff the paint a bit so the pruple stuff can work it's way into the primer.
  10. I am sure there are some slight variations there, not sure if intentioanl or just due to the difference in paint they use now.
  11. Dane was always a really cool guy. He still lived in Pendleton back when I was still in Indiana, but I am not sure if still does or not. I have one of his CDs.
  12. Depending on the car, some of the auto's with "sport" mode actually prevent the auto from shifting out of the gear you choose, and also incorporate an "auto-blip" function for the down shifts to boost the revs. The forumla one guys are not even using cluthes anymore, just paddle shifters.. I have the paddle shifters, and use them a lot, but still find myself with my right hand resting on the shifter from time to time.
  13. Any of my fellow Phoenix guys know of a source for a 1:1 upholstery job on a 56 Chevy? A friend of mine needs some work done.
  14. I like it! Also, I like your table top idea with the instructions under glass. Very cool.
  15. I don't, but some people do because they keep selling them. They got 5, and sold 3 the frist day. I assume it could be because some people want it now vs waiting for shipping time, or maybe impulse. "I am standing here, kit in hand, I will take it" kinda thing. They may not have known it was out until they saw it in the store. Not everyone spends the amount of time online that some folks on this forum do. I am sure there are many reasons I cannot even think of. I am never in that big if a hurry for a kit, I have enough to last me years and years as it is. I usually wait until model contests/swap meets to stock up or buy online, of from Hobby Lobby with a coupon or when they clearence them.
  16. IF you do not like to order online, they are showing up in the Hobby Shops for full retail. Hobby Depot had them yesterday when I was in.
  17. I am getting to the age where I do not think I am old, but I am certainly not young. BUT..I try yo dtsy fit, however, it is now getting to where the workouts cause pain. I was have now damaged a rotater cuff, and what they are calling a "repetitive use" injury, but something snapped in my neck.during my last workout, yeah, more to go with the ruptured disc in the back.. "What a drag it is getting old"
  18. Well, not sure what will happen with it, but someone at the Milwaukee NNL 20 had a 48 Chevy by Galaxie Limited, and it seems that there was a write up about it in that other magazine, but they are not going to produce it!? If they have the tooling but cannot afford to produce the cars themselves, why not license it to one of the other companies to at least produce it!?
  19. There is "science" behind this with actual studies. Here is an entertaining link regarding just such info. http://www.cnet.com/news/over-or-under-the-science-of-toilet-paper-orientation/
  20. Maybe I missed it, but did you form the linkage plate from brass or is it styrene that you have painted? Yeah, I absolutley hate to admit it, but I do get a bit green at times watching your progress. I have said it before, and I repeat it now...it is not just your artistry, but your speed that amazes me. I will sit at the bench for an hour tonight if I get lucky, and if I get a lick of work "done" I will be surprized. LOL
  21. Oh that is great! VERY nicely done!
