  1. Kind of looks like an old Air Stream trailer, at least they looked kind of cool.
  2. The color of the 1:1 spokes can depend on the model or style of American 5 spoke wheel you're thinking about. The wheels with the steel outer part of the wheel that is covered by the outer half from the bolt center to the outer edge of the face was usually a flat medium gray color. There is a one-piece cast wheel that has a machined or more often a polished lip that again, usually referred to as a "coke bottle or a daisy" style, done with a sand cast type finish and left with a natural aluminum finish. Some of these wheels, and this is where the usually I mentioned can apply, can be had with a flat metallic looking darker gray painted finish. For that particular style I would suggest looking at Tamiya XF-56 Flat Metallic Gray in a brush on paint. There has been at times in the past as trends and style have changed where the centers would be painted either the body color of the vehicle or maybe a contrasting color. I'd paint them whatever color gives you the look you're after. A spoon or scrape spruce is good for checking how the color would look.
  3. Like the paint color and finish. Don't know if you are even considering a screen for the hood vents, but I have used a simple repair kit for a home screen door for a source and that proved to be very flexible to conform to the curved opening and some Revell Contacta Clear glue worked well to securing the screen. Those decals should look good.
  4. Attended the Friday Night entertainment at a local winery last night. The group played all the head rocking '70's music we all used to sing along to. Rain, and heavy down pours were all in the weather predictions for the evening. Felt a few drops toward the middle of the first set before you started to see umbrellas start to appear. The only part of the stage that wasn't covered was over the keyboarder. A lady from the audience went up on stage and sat behind him and held a large umbrella over him and the keyboard. Very few people got up and left even when the rain started getting a little heavier. All was going great until the power supply blew. The audience was still dancing and singing along so the band said they weren't going anywhere.
  5. Great looking paint finishes. The trim looks really cleanly done. Nice engine compartment details.
  6. Like the color and it should look good against the vinyl roof.
  7. Great attention to all the fine detailing to look like a 1:1 car.
  8. Great looking chrome foil and the interior trimming all looks very realistic.
  9. Great looking paint color and finish. Like the engine detailing.
  10. Sounds like a good idea since your models are rollers.
  11. I blame one handed driving starting around the time power steering became sort of the standard. Before that you usually needed both hands to turn a corner or maneuver a car or truck. Now everyone is trying to multitask behind the wheel instead of making driving their main focus.
  12. Like the paint color and the white stripes look great. All the exterior trim is cleanly done as are the wheels. The interior color compliments the body color. Like the day - 2 engine treatment.
  13. Beautiful looking color combination and paint finish. The chrome trim looks well done. Had an older couple, at least they seemed that way at the time, that ran a little drive-up hamburger stand and they bought a new Marlin with this same color combination. They would park it alongside their little building and I think it would draw as much attention as anything else.
  14. Can't remember how long it has been since I have seen either one of these built up here. The paints bright flakes really standout and the finish looks nice and smooth. I like the bubble top and the exposed engine. Both of these are great looking builds.
  15. I'm going to enjoy watching your build. I like the body lines and the overall look of the prototype.
  16. This was and still is a really nice kit.
  17. That makes it all that more special.
  18. I'm in complete agreement with you. Most cars and even trucks produced today even have a section of the steering wheel with a different grip design at the 10 & 2 locations. You would think that in itself would give a driver a glue.
  19. Beautiful looking deep blue color and finish.
  20. Great looking paint color and the contrasting interior looks good. Like the engine detailing.
  21. Beautiful looking paint color and finish. Looks like it could sparkle in the dark. Like the wide body style.
  22. Amazing detailing on the engine and the IRS. Great looking paint color and finish.
  23. One advantage that I have not seen mentioned about these aerodynamic packages is the effect it has regular passenger cars. Even just the addition of the skirts under the trailers are beneficial to other vehicles around the truck on the hiway. Part of smoothing the air flow around the truck I have noticed that the trash and sand on the road doesn't get picked up by the air flow and thrown against the cars around it. Winter months and even in the rain there isn't as much water hitting the windshield along with the possible windshield damage.
  24. Despite my wish and hope for a reissue of the '68 Impala SS I don't for see it happening in scale anytime soon. While much of the body is shared trying to use a valid '67 Impala tool to make a '68 and then expecting to change the tool back and forth with the '67 would be far more difficult than working on the 1:1 cars. The portions of front and rear fender end caps that GM can use on a 1:1 just wouldn't work on our styrene bodies. The substructure body areas may work, but the way our kit bodies are made is different it would not. The same could be said for the area Infront of the radiator. I think that more than a few have expressed an interest in a '68 Impala that if the tooling still existed Round 2 would have done something about finding and repairing it by now.
  25. When I mentioned this my thought was that the area between the front fenders including the grill, and bumpers looked different. The rear bumpers and taillight panels are also different. Having owned a '68 Bel Air when new I'm aware of the dash and interior panels being also different.
