Tiger Paw Yellow Stripe Tires
espo replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
"Tiger Paw" tires were a name that Uniroyal Tire used on their "high performance" line of tires, think Uniroyal Redline tires. Don't recall ever seeing any like this, but this was a time when the tire companies were offering some unique looking tires. There was a time when some of the companies offered different colored sidewalls where you would normally have black rubber and still have wide whitewalls. Gold lines as well as blue streaks from Good Year. -
I think the whole sealed kit box thing got started because so many "sticky fingers" were pilfering parts in the old days. This still happens at swap meets today unfortunately.

Looks like the grandfather of today's shop vac. Looks like new again.

Beautiful looking finishes on the body as well as the engine and chassis. Like the addition of the engine on a skid. -
Beautiful looking color and finish. The background information makes this just that much more interesting. In addition to the body trim, your engine and chassis detailing looks very realistic for a new car.

Great looking original Chevelle. Despite the short comings you mentioned the trim on your build looks good.

Beautiful looking builds. I share your memories of these cars as well. Our family car was a '56 210 4-door with a rip-roaring Blue Flame 6 and a 3 on the tree. My dad must have had plans to go racing since it was a radio delete. Your detailing of both the '55 and the '56 look showroom fresh and the optional interior on the '56 was a great option. I also built the Revell '55 Bel Air hardtop years ago and used the same colors as yours, that was very popular at the time. I have also done a few of the '56 210 and always get a little nostalgic when building one. These should on a prominent display.

Great looking body color. Like the paint detailing on the chassis and engine. Are those carbs and manifold the kits intake setup?

I might be able to share a little information on your Grandfather's Falcon. A friend of mine had a very similar Falcon to the one in the picture. The chrome body trim looks like this could be a Futura model which was Ford's upscale Falcon. Next notice the emblem on the front fender, this was where Ford would call out what engine was in the car, and this looks like the "260" V-8 emblem. My friend's father worked for a Ford dealer, and he was able to get a good deal on a new Falcon with the 260 engine. His was equipped with a 3-speed manual on the column but a 4-speed or even a Fordomatic was available. Even at that his was a very fast little car that could easily catch someone of guard if they that they could put down a little Falcon. The first picture of the '64 Ford Galaxy 500 looks like it has the 390 engine emblems on the lower front fenders. The '62 Ford with the two pretty young ladies on the fender may have had a 6 cylinder or one of the more basic V-8's. Hard to tell which engine may be in the dark blue or black Galaxie as the foot of the guy holding his breath is covering the area where the emblems would have been. A special event with a '53 Chevrolet in the background. Looks like a crash from a long time ago, maybe in a creek bed? You must have grown up in a "Ford Family" by the looks of the Mercury. Someone getting married? "60 Plymouth and probably a Belvidere model from the looks of the trim.

Why some people should never drive
espo replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We went to breakfast and run some errands this morning. I can't count the times I had to deal with drivers just like this. Some of them don't even realize that when the traffic light changes to green, which means they can now precede in a timely fashion instead of waiting till it turns yellow and then going thru the intersection. Had more than a few people tried and sideswipe us as we passed them on a multilane road. Amazing how many late model cars and truck that have nonfunctioning turn signals. The cops just sit there and watch all this, it's all good since they weren't speeding. -
Buick Riviera Nailhead valve covers
espo replied to Modlbldr's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just a thought. Weren't there some fictitious models issued in the '60's and '70's based on some of the GM "personal luxury cars" of the era? Could this be a valve cover from one of those models? -
Great looking OOB build. The paint looks great and clean looking trim.

As I mentioned in your WIP, the paint work on this looks great. Nice to see this done in a showroom style as they were long ago.

Great looking paint color and finish along with the body trim. Nicely detailed engine. Like the wood grain dash trim.
