The painted body looks great, especially considering how the body was entirely clear and the windows were cast in the body. Like the commercial livery. The way they did their wheels always seemed odd to me.
Like the creative body style. Sort of a modern day take on the old Ford roadsters. Great looking paint color and finish and the interior compliments it well. Good looking wheels and tires.
Great attention to the fine details of this stock looking build. While the convertible looks a little goofy, the real car looked just like this. When I would visit my grandparents as a child one of their neighbors was a doctor and had one of these in the driveway that I would droll over whenever I visited. Looked just like this build.
Went shopping with my wife yesterday in a high-end shopping mall, we were the only ones wearing blue jeans. Parked next to a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is the first one I have even seen with a simulated wood side trim. The trim around the simulated wood trim moldings looked to be some sort of trim with a wood texture on it and the center section look much like the "shelf paper woody" trim of old. Looked like a dealer add on to me. Who would pay $70k plus for a new car and put this cheap looking trim on it.?
Looks like a great start and an exceptional effort on correcting the body and chassis short comings. While I share your disappointment with the basic kit, I have seen several builders here who have done wonders with it.
There was a camper shell included in an AMT issue of a GMC C3500 dually. The picture in the box shows it in white, there may have been other issues as well. The shell would be for a long bed, but it wouldn't be hard to shorten as needed.
Beautiful looking pickup. Great color combination and finishes. The fender chrome and the wheels give this a unique look. The chrome trim and bed floor look great.
Have you considered having an Arborist look at the tree? I think the damage was done by whoever was trimming the tree early on. Topping a tree is not the way to help the tree grow naturally and only invites so many other issues for the tree.
Beautiful looking paint finish and trim details. Great looking chassis and engine. While I like the clean look if you think the black Z stripes from a Camaro kit would work let me know. The hood pattern is notched for a cowl induction hood so that's a bonus. I also have a pair of white skunk stripes but not sure what kit they're from.
