2023 Cannonball entry
espo replied to Pat Minarick's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Love the crusty looking paint finish and the angle channeled body. -
Thank you for taking on the issue and sharing your methods. The window opening issues have kept me from wanting to build one for a very long time. Not to add to your misery, but have you noticed the rear edge of the hood and how it doesn't hide the firewall between the front fender and the A pillar?

I can remember a few bosses with that problem.

I count my blessings that I didn’t kill my entire family.

Glad this all ended well for you and your family. Now knowing the age of the home and the basic equipment that we all take for granted, now might be a good time to invest in having a home inspection done by a trusted inspector. Your water heater is another problem area when they go bad. -

Great looking color and clean body trim. Like the posable steering. -
Beautiful color and finish. Great job on the interior changes. Like the wheels and tires.
-
Beautiful looking paint work and the dark color looks special. Clean body trim. Like the stance and the wheels & tires.

Beautiful looking paint finish and color. Clean looking trim and interior. Remember when these first hit the road and I was a middle schooler. While a born car crazy kid I never really noticed sports cars. The XK 120 changed all that for me. To this day I still think their body lines just will never go out of style.

Your post was coming in as I was writing mine. They asked for my approval to add your first and I agreed of course. There is a range of scribing tools out there and I have tried a few. I have picked up some that look like dental tools that work OK for me in some instances. I had been using a tool from Excel that seemed good until I bought the Tamiya Plastic Scriber II. That is now my go-to tool. I enjoy seeing what others are using as it will give me additional ideas, but in the end we all have something that works best for how we do our builds.

A lot of good suggestions by others, and what I was sort of suggesting going in. I would like to add something that I and I'm sure many others do in preparation to adding chrome foil. During the very initial phase of body prep when you're getting panel lines and door openings scribed, include outlining body trim that you will be using chrome foil on in the finishing stages. The reason for this is that the edge of the trim will be easier to find and give the blade a line or grove to follow.

Chopped ‘34 Ford 5 window - The dead man‘s hand

Like the sinister look and the angle roof chop. -
The paint finish in the first picture looks like it may be a real car. Beautiful looking detailing everywhere you look.

The unfortunate reality is that a Seal, even a youngster, may and could bite and it would be as bad or worse than a larger dog bite.
-
Great looking interior and body color combination.
-
I have only seen pictures of 1:1 cars of this nature, but this sure looks like some of the ones I have seen. The body finish has the rough look to it. This is a build you have to really look and study for a while as you keep finding little details everywhere you look. Like the duel rear tire setup.
-
Beautiful looking paint finish and color. The blackout trim gives it a more current look.
-
Beautiful looking convertible and the colors look great. Like how you detailed the chassis and engine.
-
Great looking fastback and like the way you added the lighting system. Like the engine and interior detailing.
-
Look forward to following this build, have always liked Pontiac vehicles.

There is a section here on the Forum called Tips, Tricks, Tutorials. Several builders have posted how they go about using Bare Metal Foil. After reading what they have posted try experimenting with different techniques applying the foil on a spare body. See what works for you when you're foiling. With some practice you will soon find what works best for you. The main thing is you will see what others have done and how they have overcome similar problems.

Paint Question on AMT 63 Vette

Was the primer coat sanded before the color coat? This is just what it looks like to me. -
Paint Question on AMT 63 Vette
espo replied to Len Woodruff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Looks like surface scratches on the body under the paint. Think about any- body prep prior to the color coat of paint. -
Great looking engine details. The color and paint finish look nice and smooth.
