  1. I can see at least one '32 Imperial build in my future. Maybe two with one all shot up.
  2. Thank you for the firewall info. I had suggested that the bottom of the windshield might have been the problem since I had had that happen on a few other models. The engine really looks good on this, I'm partial to Pontiacs anyway.
  3. That looks good. I was going to suggest this foil if you hadn't already tried it. You're correct about it being on the delicate side. The foil is also a little thicker I believe. On the trim for the '57 Chevrolet, especially the Bel Air lettering on the rear quarter panels, wings, I use Tamiya X-12 Gold Leaf paint. This foil is great for the gold trim on the side of the '57 Fords though.
  4. After looking at some of his builds and especially what he had to start with I'm really impressed with his work. Some are a little out there but he does them well also.
  5. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the July 2020 Round 2 new kit lists. The usual 1/64 die cast and some SIFY reissues. They're going to reissue one of the old MPC Crime Fighter '30's car with all the machine guns, two figures, and a violin case or two. A couple nice looking 1/12 die cast including a 340 Duster.
  6. Beautiful looking convertible. Great looking color combination and cleanly trimmed. I have one of these kits with the flat bottom boat in it. This might be the motivation to get it built.
  7. Beautiful looking little GTO. I enjoyed watching your build as you move along faster than I do sometimes. I remarked before about the paint and it's finish. The engine detailing really stands out. I like the way the rear tires fill the wheel wells.
  8. Great idea for the fish scales mask. I kind of liked the first design but this is good also.
  9. Very cleanly done. How are you going to handle the gold trim parts ?
  10. I'm liking the engine and front suspension.
  11. Better hope the big guy looks before he backs up.
  12. Other than the numbers themselves everything else can be found on many different left over decal sheets from old builds.
  13. I picked up a resin '67 Chevelle 300 two door, just need some grill and tail lights and I think a '67 hood. The '66 El Camino kit is much like the wagon and I think a good kit. The problems I ran into building a model of my personal old '67 El Camino was grafting the '67 Chevelle front end on the El Camino body. The lower body line to the bottom of the fender has a different shape between the two year models. I was able to create the tail light housing from the '67 and mix and match the interior pieces.
  14. I was in the 'burbs of Chicago so this was really an odd duck at that time. I recall the steering wheel now that you mention it. The seats were nice and soft and I couldn't reach the dash board. When I got out he had to wait for the air suspension to react before he could drive off. As I recall the fit and finish was much better than the Detroit Iron everyone else was driving including my fathers '56 Chevy.
  15. You might consider a Goat Busters Cadillac kit and graft the Pontiac nose onto it. Your convertible looks great and I also like the color combination you used. The interior issue may be caused by the lower edge of the windshield not letting it seat properly. I have run into this issue on different kits.
  16. So the great state of Kansas has been basically shut down for a few months now. My Drivers License expired on my birthday in June. The state had stated back in May sometime that any licenses that were due for renewal would have to wait until after the July 4th weekend was over, just keep driving. So Monday the 6th I drive over too the DMV and they're still closed and now they will be closed until September. The notice on the door gave a phone number to call for an appointment to get a license renewed. The lady I talked to told me to go on line and make an appointment on their web site. The state gives you a list of cities where you can setup your appointment. The problem is that all of the cities are booked and they aren't taking anymore appointments. This is nothing compared to the problems the people that are depending on the state unemployment benefits. They're giving some people a child support payment and the person isn't receiving child support. That's fine since they're also docking people who don't owe a child support payments so maybe that will even out, in the states collective mind set.
  17. Nice sedan conversion. I was wondering when someone would do this.
  18. Great looking finish and I like the way you did the interior on this.
  19. Beautiful looking build. Very cleanly put together. I like the color, never thought of using that before.
  20. I have always thought these were an interesting car. A family friend gave me a ride in one around 10960 or 1961. I got in and sat down and he said we would have to wait a minute for the suspension to adjust to me being in the car. Then we drove off on the ride, very smooth riding car.
  21. I have no idea about the use of Duplicolor Clear over the Tamiya paints. I just haven't been a user of Duplicolor, but I have used the Tamiya paint products with great satisfaction for many years. In that time I have used mostly the Tamiya TS-13 Clear and have always been pleased with the results. I have also used Model Master #28139 Ultra Gloss Clearcoat at times. My experience has been with either of these clear coats the finish has mainly to do with the polishing done with the clear coat. If you already have the Duplicolor Clear Coat you could experiment on some scraps or picnic spoons to see what it would look like and if there is any negative reaction between the different paint products. When you start mixing different paints from different suppliers you can sometimes open a real can of worms with the outcome. I would suggest which ever group of products you use test it on something you don't care about before you try it on a model you just put a lot of hard work into.
  22. This is at least the appropriate color to go with all of the other, what ever you want to call it, styling Q's.
  23. It's an acquired taste, and I have not yet acquired it. Question, who put a hood on the roof ?
  24. The Sears of old is long gone. I was at Lowe's this morning for some yard supplies and they're selling a lot of stuff under the Craftsman name. I would start there, don't know if they'll be of any help but this is probably your best bet at this point.
  25. Depending on the lighting it looks almost Yellow but other shots start to show the Green color. Great clean looking build. I like the mods on the headlights also.
