Great looking Thunderbird. I enjoyed watching you over come several problems and doubts about the color for trim on this build. I like the Brown Mt. paint also.

not your pops tucker anymore, muthurs tucker now
espo replied to damodelguy az's topic in Model Cars
Super nice conversion. Great looking interior, but the body work doesn't look like it was disturbed, as if this is the way the Tucker was instead of a 4 door rear engine car. -
A lot of what determines what store is open in what area has to do with the States they are located in. We have to remember that there are 50 States trying to figure out what they think is best for them. Within those States there are Counties and even Cities that are again trying to figure out what and how to do this. So my thought is that there will be different regulations in different parts of the country, especially now that it looks like we're supposed to go back to normal, what ever that looks like now.

I like your approach with the extended rockers. I also think your idea of just using foil on the half round makes sense as to much chrome on the lower portion of the body would draw the eye away from the upper body moldings. Should the finished body start to look to tall from the side consider painting the portion below the molding a semi-gloss Black. This is a trick used in the past by many manufacturers.

Good that you saved this. I remember the rich kid that lived down the block had one of these. -

Very clean looking, and I'm a fan of the color, and your paint finish looks good also. I used that color on a build but it seems darker. That could be the lighting also. With the nice way this turned out maybe you'll be out of your slump, I would like to see more like this. -
This is a very bad thing what ever it is. The worst part seems to be the lack of a proven way to treat it. Al I can say is ware your mask and stay safe my friend .

great looking build. Nice job on the antenna, I've never been able to do that and have it turn looking like this. Who's Black paint did you use ?

I'm looking forward to see how this one comes together. -
I like the deep set wheels you're using.

I have to agree with you on this Monte Carlo. This is pretty much a Chevelle with an extended wheel base with the extra WB from the Firewall forward. Many years ago I picked up an 80k mile one owner Monte with the 350 and while it was no drag car it could run with most other cars of the time and pulled my little boat as if it wasn't even there. They were great riding highway cars also. I did replace the springs and sway bars with OEM F41 suspension pieces and added 15 by 8 Corvette Rally Wheels and 235/60x15 Radials. I should never have sold it. Anyway this is a really nice kit and you should enjoy it.

I know what you mean. The local TV station, while I like them, they just cant get the wording correct when they are describing some event that has taken place. Also the banner that runs at the bottom of the screen has many errors in their grammar and even spelling. I have found if you have a general idea of what type of event they are talking about you can still figure it out.

The photo shopped pictures of the Red Edsel wagon on this thread is a good example, but you might want to use a different color just because. While not realistic, the Wood Trim does look nice. I would go with something bold, something you've wanted to use for a long time but just haven't found the right model for it.

That is a beautifully presented '50 tudoor. I also enjoy these cars since our family car was a new '49 four door and I have had a couple of '51's in the past. I tried this very conversion a few years ago with the same parts. I could never get the two parts to work and gave up. You got the body and roof section to go perfectly and the stance is just the way my '51 was. Your paint work is great looking and I like the shortened side chrome. The louvered hood looks perfect, I would like to hear more on the tape method you mentioned. Nice job on the front spindles.

I have a Corvair Monza kit that's in the some day I'll finish it pile. The decals are kind of a Orangish Gold color with no suggestions in the kit as to where they go. I'm not going to use them, so let me know if you think they would work for you.

Amazing collection of Fords. I'm impressed with the short roof coupe conversion. I always thought chopping a top was hard and you did both. The '49 Ford Grill is something I don't think I have ever seen done before. Besides the body work the paint on all of these looks great.

Beautiful looking paint finish and color. The "Motion Performance" cars were a little over the top in appearance but I always liked that about them. The side Pipes are what every Corvette should have.

Great looking build. I like the two tone paint treatment.

This Camaro looks great. I'm not familiar with this kit so I wonder how much if any paint work you had to do or if it's a polish and go type build ?
-
I love the Ice Cubes. Were they in the kit ? We're with you on the down size move on your home. The housing market is in the "Pull Chain Facility" now so we're going to have to wait on any moves at this time.

Pile O' Parts RPU
espo replied to Modlbldr's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I have often gotten in what I call the "hardly wait" state of mind and get the body in color before I figure out how to stuff everything else inside it. -
Great idea for the Hood. This makes it an even more interesting way to display it with the Hood open .

I agree with everyone on the look of the Tail Gate. Good idea to hide the Frame Rails from the side view. Ford products from that era had the same problem with the Frame being visible from the side. Have you come up with a color scheme yet ?

1/25 AMT Y-193 '69 Camaro Kit History & Evolution
espo replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
You my be correct on the Garnet Red. I had to look at some suppliers as to what they had listed for '69 colors. I had a new '68 Bel Air that I ordered with Matador Red which is "Fire Engine Red" for lack of a better description. No metallic and very bright. I'm thinking that if the Garnet Red you mention fits that description it was a name change is all. Should that color be a metallic shade and somewhat darker say on the order of the Maroons of old. As mentioned before about the '69 HO full-size Chevrolet, I remember looking on line at a '69 Biscayne up for auction. The car was presented as a special ordered car in HO. The consigner claimed to have Build Sheets and other documents to support the claims of a 425/427 4-speed car. For some reason I have always been drawn to oddball drive train and color combination vehicles. A full size HO Chevrolet would have been a lot of Orange and I think I would have remembered such a car if I had seen it. Enough with colors, have a great day and I always enjoy comparing notes with you on some of the technical stuff that most people really don't care about. -
I must be missing something with your back up electrical system. You paid aprox. $1000.00 for an electrical back up ? Many area Home Supply places around here offer an eze to install electrical back up using a car battery or some of the newer Lithium Ion battery systems for about $200.00 or less. They're just "plug and play" systems. Plug it in and walk away. We had one of the old style car battery types in a house about 25 years ago and when we lost power for a couple of days during a bad storm the Sump would run when ever it was needed.
