  1. I like how the owner used the 15x8 factory optional wheels that used to be available on the 4x4 trucks and Blazers.
  2. Find a very thin material that you can easily shape to fit inside the roll bar. I don't know if a thin plastic would be shapeable enough without heat to make it fit. Maybe a small piece of a paper product of some sort and paint to match the roll bar color?
  3. Thank you Carl. This will not be my finest just something that I want to get done finally.
  4. Hi Jim. Ya no flash, but man getting all the old paint out of the nicks and crannies was no fun. I also didn't do a real good job of blending the roadster body parts as I may be able to do now. I have been tempted to put away again, but I have also made up my mind to finish this so and so kit once and for all. This is one of those things that haunts us all at some time.
  5. Now that is just cool looking. I'm not copying your color but have already used Tamiya TS-18 Red Mt. over a pink primer base on mine. I like how you blended the roof on yours and you would never know that that was a separate part from the body. like the stance and the wheels. If I could own a 1:1 '36 I think this would be the look I would want.
  6. Hi Mike. That little '53 is done really well. I didn't get to talk to the owner, but it looked like it was more than a posser. The workmanship on the engine and the way the front sheet metal was supported to clear the fender well headers and notice the heat blankets glued on the inside of the front fenders so that the paint wouldn't blister. Liget looking roll bars inside and strictly business everywhere you looked. A lot more drag race-based cars this year including a Rail job.
  7. Glad you like it. I always try and get pictures of cars and trucks that I haven't seen at the show before. The owner has a side business of buying and selling Novas from the '66 & '67 era. This car has an exceptional combination of equipment, and he has build sheets and other documentation to back it up. The color was offered starting with the spring '67 production and could be had on Chevelles as well as Impalas and has to be seen in the bright sunlight to full appreciate how it looks. The engine is the 350 hp 327 cu in that is from the Corvette line. The close ratio 4-speed, Postreaction rear end, Disc Brakes, and dealer installed Chevrolet under dash Air Conditioning are all documented. If someone wanted the biggest and baddest Nova of the day this would have been it.
  8. Be aware the fitment of the grill is disappointing if you are used to say a Revell type quality and the same can be said for the windshield mounting. But we are modelers after all so while it is a challenge you can beat into submission.
  9. I guess there is a limit on how many pictures one can load at one time, so here is a few more pictures.
  10. This is an annual event, and the turnout is amazing especially since a neighboring town has their car show on Friday as part of their town's annual celebration.
  11. I wasn't happy with the way my first build of this kit turned out. After disassembly and primer, it went back into the box for a few years as I was moving. Found it while looking for models to sell at a swap meet and thought some else could do something with it. Lot of lookers but no buyers even for $10. So, I'm taking a second swing at this one.
  12. Hi Steve. The Greatlakes Shipwreck Museum is in Paradise Mi. near the Whitefish Point Lighthouse. Looking on the net it shows an address of 18335 N. Whitefish Point Rd. with a phone of 888-492-3747. The site I went into showed that they are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Like I said we found it while on vacation several years ago on our way back from the Mackinaw Island area.
  13. Like the base model with the day-2 look. Great paint color and finish. Clean chrome trim. Great chassis detailing and unique stock interior pattern.
  14. Good that you contacted your game warden friend as another form of wildlife, or even a dog or cat, might have eaten them and maybe have been poised themselves.
  15. There is a museum in the UP, upper Michigan, dedicated to the Coast Guard and of course the Edmond Fitzgerald. Unfortunately, it is not located on the way to anywhere it seems, but well worth visiting and extremely well done and enlightening into how life was at the time.
  16. Should buy him an adult beverage as a sign of gratitude for cleaning your car. Bird droppings can do major damage to a paint finish that even the best paint sealants may not be able to prevent.
  17. Great looking paint finish and like the roof treatment. The wheels look perfect for this. Great storied history surrounding these cars.
  18. All of your extra efforts really paid off with the appearance of this build. Beautiful paint finish and color.
  19. Great looking paint finish and with those wheels this looks just like the Hot Wheels car.
  20. Like the full fender'd look and the black paint. Cragar's look good with the white letter tires.

    49 Mercury Kustom

Great save on the chopped roof redo. All the other body work and paint look nice and smooth.
  23. Great looking paint finish and color. The engine is really well detailed. Always enjoyable to build a model of a past ride and all the good memories that they seem to bring to mind.
  24. Great paint finish and the contrasting vinyl roof looks good. Clean body trim.
