Just read in one of the enthusiast magazines about their " press drive" test from Ford. They pointed out that the EcoBoost 4 with much less weight over the front tires greatly improved the handling on the test track. They said that their lap times where better than they would have been with the V-6. For myself I would get the V-8 with the 6-Speed stick, but that's just me. On colors on cars I can tell you from expensive experiences that any car with a bright color is going to get you a ticket faster than a white or gray one. IN the day I had a Hugger Orange '69 Camaro that almost cost me my license. I drove an '86 Monte Carlo SS in white and never gat stopped. My '06 GTO was black and I never got bothered. I now drive a '10 Dodge Charger RT in dark gray and I don't know what it would take to get stopped in that . Even thought it's the older body style some people still move over, as if I might be a state trouper or something. If you feel "Froggy" get it in Candy Apple Red and go for it.

The New Ugly Miata
espo replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Always thought the Miata would be a fun car to have. My problem is I'm 6'2'' and my legs don't fit and I have to look over the windshield. This was years ago and my needs have changed. I think if you look at the new design it is more like the direction that the new and currant cars are designed, and I'm sure they will sell all of them they can build. -
Please remember the request for respectful answers. For what it is worth I have noticed far fewer "Tuner" type 1:1 cars on the streets around Kansas City. I'm not sure why that is and I'm sure there is many reasons. As for the models that we all love and enjoy, I feel everyone brings something to the table. We all can learn something from one another.

I've been participating but I don't think I've posted any builds. Till now.

The "Stink Bug Look" bring back memories. That was why High Jackers were invented. One thing you might try when you practice foiling that helped me a lot is to look on a 1:1 car to see where the different pieces are joined. I used to really struggle with the longer pieces of foil until I started try to match what the factory did. This goes for the door and fenders as wheel as the window moldings. As stated by others, If you can build that good a model, foiling will come to you. -
Excellent conversion. It looks like Revell made a sedan kit.

Warning fake Starbucks gift card email

There seems to be a lot of bad people doing bad things to others. I've been invited to increase the size of my manly hood, find a new girlfriend and claim my plane tickets to somewhere, just today. -
Anyone in the auto business know about Car Fax?
espo replied to Tom Geiger's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I'm wondering about your looking at Government Auctions. What type of cars are they offering and what were they used for ? We used to get 20 - 25 Chevrolet C20 pickups that were used during the California fire season. They were very basic models and were used by the crews that would take care of the camp grounds. They just needed a god detail and they were ready to sell with less than 10k miles. You could find a life time supply of trash bags under the seat. We once bought a '86 Buick T-Type which turned out to be a Grand National in everyway with no trim markings and a Chip in the computer. It was good for well over 100 mph in less time than you would think possible. Don't ask how I know. The car had like 20k miles showing and had never been titled. This would be like an undercover car where if some one ran the plate it would come back with a bogus Reg. and address info. Your right about some of the new car deals now. The manufactures have got to move a lot of iron right now. Wheal and deal on an in stock '14 and get rebates and or 0% apr. -
They were one of the top groups of all time. I got to see the at the Dick Clark theater a few years ago. They were there with the Righteous Brothers, what a night that was.

espo replied to Tom Geiger's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
As has been pointed out , if something has happened to the vehicle and it's not reported then it will not show on the Carfax. I was in the retail car business for over 30 years before I retired. Trust me when I say that there is just as many people trading in cars that have some "tails to tell" as there are dealers to sell them. You might think about looking at late model (2-4 years models old) vehicles from a franchised dealer that has that manufacture's Certified Used Cars. They can very from returned rentals (look at these very hard before you buy) to off lease cars bought from the manufacture. The off lease cars are gone over far more than the usual used car and are usually the best buy even of they cost a little more. -
I always look forward to seeing what our friends in other parts of the world are doing at their shows. This show is always outstanding. I enjoyed seeing all of the wagons and some very interesting Mustangs as well. Thank you for sharing.

Came out great. You might see what it would look like with very narrow white walls and maybe chrome wheels. Much nicer than you think for only your fourth try, keep it up.

The "fade" paint looks great.

There is differences between the grills on '67 and '68 Camaros. The '67 was a relatively flat grill where the '68 had a bit of a "V" shape in that the ends by the head lamps was somewhat deeper than the '67s.

Roughly, what temp does kit plastic warp at ?
espo replied to w451973's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Beyond the bodies warping it has been my personal misfortune to have the tires melt into the bodies and ruin the decals. At best the kits might give you some parts, but I wouldn't give a dime for any of them unless you can see what's inside. -
When to get off the gas
espo replied to Daddyfink's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not up on the safety requirements in drag racing any more. But I would think if you are in a class that requires a roll bar you would also need to have a 5point belt. I think the Camaro driver should have shut it down if he's that far out of shape. Not sure what caused the '55 to lose it, but he has got to be one of the luckiest people to walk away from that one. -
What cars interest you in resin 1/25

The '68 Bel Air would be of interest to me if it were a tudor or a wagon. -
Anyone Have A Sleep Number Bed? Waaaay OT !
espo replied to Tom Geiger's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Like many here we got tired of buying expensive beds that only lasted a few years. Bit the bullet and bought the sleep number bed and have never looked back. For myself I have back issues from an injury when I was young. I'm able to adjust the bed to offset any issues I may be having at any given time. Its a lot of money, but well worth it in the long run. -
In the "old days" before air shocks were invented. We Ford owners could put the jack handle in between the frame and the rear leaf springs and pry the shackles until they flipped and it would raise the rear of the car. The hard part was flipping them back to sit in the stock position.

round 2 36 ford coupe building / color ideas
espo replied to AC Norton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For the kit its self the only fit issues that I experienced was between the grill-hood and firewall. Other than that it's a nice simple build. For ideas on color and style you might check out Street Rodder magazine's web sight. There are many different style to build this model and the color helps to set the "look" that your after. Please post pictures of your progress. Have fun. -

That's the way a "shoe box" is supposed to look. Love it. -
About that Fiat! Which way is it going? Kind had to tell.

I'm old enough to remember these. We used to fill them with ice and a little water. My first home had a "Swamp Cooler", that's all I could afford. That should be real "cool" on this cruiser.
