Carl, You asked about Phoenician Yellow for a color match for your Camaro. I have used it on a couple of builds. I think it would look like the very light yellow that GM used on some of it's 60's cars. GM also had a much brighter yellow that could be had on the '69 Camaro also. Hope that helps.

I think the driver of the Challenger needs a bit more practice with this drag racing thing. That much power, you just can't stand on it and expect two tires, even if they were slicks, to hook up. Some of the magazine drive tests I've read show the Charger some what better at getting traction due to greater weight over the rear tires. All that said I still think the Tesla is still going to be the winner here. Now if they could get the AWD on the Charger to stand up to the 700 HP then you might have a more apples to apples race.

Perfect paint, and I like the intake setup.

That is truly original. Looks fantastic with the body on, but makes you want to laugh looking at the chassis.

Your build looks outstanding. I have one of these kits but I have put off building it because of the rear quarter windows that just do not look right to me.

Wheels turned out great.

Your right about cars from the 50's, you can never have enough foil. That's one of the best color combo for on of these "bat wings". Can't wait to see it finished.

Mini shelves for the modelling workbench
espo replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's a great looking shelving unit. I was going to suggest a 1/4 round trim molding on the back edge of your work bench. I saw a thread here once where they showed how to drill shallow holes in a board and stair step additional levels with holes for more bottles. It looks like you have the wood working thing figured out, just thought the paint bottle holder idea may help. -
Looks like the Post Man was reading it on his lunch break.

Monogram Blue Beetle

Nice rebuild. All of the skills you have gained in the mean time really show here. -
I think what Monty meant was that the valve covers should be rotated 180 degrees from where they are mounted now. If you look at the valve covers from the end you will see that one side is taller than the other. The taller side should be on the bottom or lower edge of the head.

NASCAR -- this floored me
espo replied to B_A_R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interest in NASCAR kits has been on a decline for sometime. I'm using all my old duplicates for chassis and engines for "pro touring" type builds. I think they are worth more as parts rather than complete kits. I personally think its a shame, but that's just me. -

If not VW's, mid to late 30's Fords used a "wide five" bolt pattern also. -
Can't wait to see some colors on this. I think being an Edsel makes it just that much better.

I remember seeing '64 Impalas at the Winter Nationals at Pamona. The 409's were still very strong in the stock class, but they had some Impalas with the bench seat and Aluminum front ends and the 427 version of the 409. These were in what was called A/FX class. All of the factories were doing some interesting things at that time. Mopars with 426 wedges with 2-4 short ram intakes. Ford was putting a very "bad" 427 with high rise 2-4s in Fairlanes and Comets. It was a great time in Drag racing.

All very good. I'm partial to the green '32 and I like the color on the Camaro.

Another thought on a base for spraying your car body. Without investing in a paint stand, you can get the same results by using a coat hanger. It takes a little bending but it will give you the ability to spray into the underside without much trouble. I did it that way for years and it worked well for me.

You're off to a good start. There is a lot of different ideas on the carb. colors and other things. As your supplies expand you might look for Tamiya X-31 Titan. Gold. It looks pretty close with a little black wash. A lot of time looking on line and magazines can give you a good idea how the 1:1s look.

This could be a tuff build but not impossible. If you used the '56 Revelle Del Ray as a base and the roof and body sides just below the windows from the '55 Revelle hardtop, then make your own moldings out of Plastruct using the '56 Revell Nomad for a guide on both the placement of the trim and a correct Bel Air interior I think it could be done.

looks great, period correct.

Just amazing work here.

Great paint job. With that engine this should be a killer looking Vette.

I wouldn't be to worried about the undercarriage on the AMT kit. Most of these "streamliners" had full belly pans anyway. If you haven't already, think about "bubble" type covers for the headlamps. I remember even seeing a few Corvettes where they covered the two openings on either side of the grill so that they could better control the air flow. If you haven't found tires that you like yet you might try some narrow tires from the Chevy or Ford pickup models. Just sand the tread smooth and round the shoulders.

1953 Ford Country Squire Wagon - completed 3/18

Joel, your engine is looking great. Just some thoughts, as I remember these engines in their stock applications had some different colors than what your using. The photo above shows that the carb. and fuel pump is of a silver colored metal. The throttle linkage is on the passenger side of the carb. also. Looking forward to the rest of your build.
