  1. Thanks for the info John , I figured externally it could be any big block . I do have a 383 Roadrunner decal for the air cleaner lid so I'm all set . As for removing the A/C , it's just a personal preference . I think the engine looks much nicer without the compressor sticking up in the front !
  2. Thanks guys ! The belt idea is pretty easy to do as long you only cut one at a time .
  3. Beautiful Roadrunner Tim , I really like the Canopy vinyl roof !
  4. Very well done ! I've always been on the fence about the Ala Kart but after seeing yours I definitely like it !
  5. I've liked AMC Rebel's ever since I saw my first one back when they were new . You've really done a superb job with this one , the paint is gorgeous and those decals are amazing !
  6. Yesterday I started on the engine from the Charger kit , not an expert but I'm guessing it's a 383/440 engine ? After white primer I masked of the block and sprayed the transmission Flat Aluminum , then masked the trans and painted the engine Hemi Orange . Carb , coil , and exhaust manifolds installed . Distributor base is for a MAD distributor , I added the vacuum advance and hose . I also added a PCV Valve and hose , and the brass fitting for vacuum hose to the brake booster . Yesterday I also painted a bunch of the smaller parts but turns out I rushed things a bit . The belts/pulleys have A/C and I want to remove that so time to cut it apart . I forgot to take a pic so I've added the drawing from the instructions . I'm also cutting up the belts from the Roadrunner kit and will combine the two . Modified belts/pulleys on the engine . Boy those belts are big ! I usually thin the belts with a file but this time I'll snip them one at a time and replace with .020" x .040" strips . It's much easier than you may think . I didn't do the inside belts since they're not really visible . Looks like I need to add a lower alternator bracket ! Finished belts !
  7. Thanks Russ ! You will be very happy with Fireball Modelworks , great prices and service too !
  8. Great looking 'cuda JC , love those wheels !
  9. Nice work so far ! I like your color choice and the vinyl roof looks great !
  10. Thanks much Carl ! I was thinking about it but the more I look at it the more I like the way it sits right now . The front spindles are already flipped to get the ride height in my pics so they would need to modified to get it any lower .
  11. Thanks Francis ! I've done a few chassis swaps like this and it really pays off .
  12. Thanks Bob , Matt , and Randy ! Joseph's parts are always superb and these wheels are no exception !
  13. Wow that's nice ! Congrats on the paint , it turned out beautiful , and your detailing is top notch !
  14. Looking really good so far ! I like your choice of wheels and that color is going to look great !
  15. Been following along quietly and your conversion using the Charger parts looks great ! It's never as easy as we hope especially the engine panels , and the track & ride height always need work but the result is well worth the effort . I also like that you removed the molded in wipers , kind of like door handles it will make a huge difference when the model is finished .
  16. I made it from some plastic sheet , took a couple tries . Yep , that's the only issue I had too . A little grinding on the tunnels solved the problem . I received this Rallye Wheel and Tire set from Fireball Modelworks last week , really nice stuff and it comes with Goodyear tire decals too ! I quickly mocked it up too see how they look . Really nice but the tires are just a bit too big , the rears hit the body and the fronts interfere with the poseable steering . This could be fixed but maybe I can find different tires . So I started digging for some different tires and I found these in the AMT '68 Camaro kit , they're not as wide and just slightly smaller in diameter than the first ones so they don't hit anything . These look great but the front ride height could be a little lower .
  17. Engine compartment is glued in place after I added some flanges made out of styrene strips to the sides , also added a new hood latch plate . Here I'm fitting everything to make sure there are no surprises later on . Firewall , dash , and windshield are from the Charger . . . everything fits great !
  18. Thanks Eric ! Personally I can't stand yellow plastic but this one doesn't seem to be as "soft" as others I've had . Thanks JC Thanks Carl !
  19. Beautiful roadster Glen ! Love the colors , what green did you use?
  20. Boy that turned out really really nice ! Beautiful paint and detailing !
  21. Thanks for looking guys ! Haven't decided on a color yet , still looking at pics on the internet . I used a razor saw to cut the engine compartment from the Charger body . Then a Dremel and file to remove the extra thickness caused by remnants of the body . First test fit using the MPC interior tub and the Charger chassis . I've done a few chassis swaps like this before and this is definitely the easiest one yet , the Charger chassis fits right into the MPC body . The only modification was to snip off two locating tabs at the rear and two small frame extensions at the front . Also there was some grinding in the tunnel area so that the interior tub would fit on the chassis .
  22. Been a very long time since I've posted a WIP , probably because I never finish them , but here goes . I've got both the MPC Roadrunner and a Monogram "71 Satellite kit but when comparing the two the MPC body is so much nicer it's the one I'm using . Plus it can be easily upgraded using the more detailed AMT Charger R/T kit . One part from the Monogram kit I am using is the hood . The size difference in this photo is an optical illusion , it's not that bad . Here's the actual difference . A few minutes of sanding on a flat surface and the hood fits great . Before prepping the body for paint I'm going to glue the rear valence in place using the bumper as a guide . Up next is taking the engine compartment from the Charger and adding it to the Roadrunner body . More pics coming soon !
  23. The March 1972 issue of Car Model Magazine had Hank Borger's "How-To Swirl-A-Delic" article , here's a link : https://public.fotki.com/TooOld/models/misc-/magazine-articles/swirladelic-paint/
  24. Very cool , love your work !
