That's a neat model of a nice looking car ! -
From a modeller's point of view I guess that Kris will be best remembered as 'The Duck' in Convoy. But as other posters have pointed out he was also a respected singer songwriter as well as an actor, and will be sadly missed.

Does anyone make a comprehensive decal sheet that features virtually all the licence plates on one sheet for well known TV and movie vehicles? You know the sort of thing? The Duck's Mack from Convoy, the Peterbilt Tanker from Duel, Pruitt's Kenworth, the Bullitt movie's Mustang and Charger, Lotus 7 from the Prisoner, and Magnum's Ferrari, TransAm from Smokey and the Bandit, Land Rover from Tomb Raider, Christine, The Saint, Vanishing point etc. So many that could be done on one sheet. If not available already from someone, I am sure that a sheet like that would sell well.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Thought it sounded a bit odd. Particularly the bit about it accessing a low frequency signal. Guessed it might be a scam. That's why I put the question out there.

Your perseverance will be well rewarded ! A really nice out of the ordinary model taking shape here. -
An incredible eye for detail making for a superb exercise in miniaturization very realistically executed.

Nice compact diorama. The rust looks very effective.

What options do I have here...?

The crack does not appear to go through the outer frame. Perhaps if you can manage to score the clear through very carefully just next to the inner edge of the frame, you may be able to use what you have removed as a template to cut a slightly oversized piece of clear acetate sheet to glue to the frame and replace the original. Once set the excess acetate around the outside edges can then be trimmed off. Alternatively you may be able to scratch build one. Simply push a piece of acetate into the original to cut the shape around the outside edge. Then use some thin vinyl tape on each side around the outer edge to make your own frame. -
I keep seeing an advert for a little gizmo that looks like it plugs into a USB port on a TV. It claims to be able to legally access all the pay channels for free as is is designed to pick up a very low frequency signal that all those pay per view channels have to broadcast on to allow the broadcasting authorities to monitor content. Big question. Any poster on here buy one ? And does it live up to all the claims on the advert ?

Looking through the wish lists on here has been interesting. Some of the wishes are already available in 1/24th scale but mostly not in regular plastic. Monogram did a Triumph TR7 hard top that could be converted to a rag top. The wedge shaped Lagonda I believe someone has 3D printed a kit as a project but not sure if they planned on selling them as kits. The Citroen SM is available in resin from a Ukranian company. C1 Models and Motobitz both in the UK makes trans kits to convert the Revell Land Rover. C1 makes a lovely resin trans kit to make one of the Bowler special Land Rovers from the Spectre Bond film. Jaguar XJ6 Saloon in white metal from UK company K&R Replicas. MGA (and other MGs) from either South Eastern (ex Wills) Finecast and Autokits white metal kit ranges now being sold by Squires of Bognor Regis, Sussex UK.

Thanks for the tip Bill ! I will keep that in mind. Thinking back, I think it must time out as my composition typing can be a bit slow. I think that I have a way of getting around it, by saving after the first few lines, and then going back and using the editing function to enable me to add more text to my post. Will have to try it and see if it will work.

Often when I make a longish post the site does not allow my submission. Sometimes I can go onto another thread and go back and retrieve my post composition and it will accept it. Last time I got really annoyed as it appeared to retrieve my post and I pressed for it to save. Then I had to say that I was not a robot ! On top of that I had to verify my email address, which I did. And do you know what ? It said my email address belonged to another member. By this time I was getting really irritated ! I was so jarred off after the time spent posting being a waste that I just gave up on it in the end ! Has anyone else been having this sort of problem ? This problem if regularly happening to other posters too really needs to be looked into .

It comes back to the very basic rule of thumb. Oil based paints over Acrylic generally works OK. But not the opposite way. Why ? Acrylic paint forms the equivalent of a thin plastic coating when dry and therefore a seal. Oil based paints used underneath cannot evaporate naturally and therefore will attack the acrylic from underneath The make of paint is probably not as important as following the basic rule of acrylic under not over.

This is what I like to see. Properly engineered scale models in metal ! I find it very interesting to see how solutions are found for making and building models like this. Cars must be one of the most difficult subjects to emulate in miniature. Seeing each of the sub assemblies ad their individual component parts being made is fascinating. Those wheels with the radial spoke arrangement like the T59 are something to behold and from experience quite difficult to make. This long term project is one that I have been following with real interest as it takes shape. -
Brushes... Like anything else it is a case of horses for courses. BUT....Investing in good quality artists brushes, although expensive, will pay dividends in the long run. Of course there are reasonably good brushes under hobby brand names like Tamiya, Humbrol/Airfix for example. I have an odd few of these in my brush armoury. However, my go to quality brushes are made by well established artists brush manufacturers like Winsor & Newton, Kolinsky and Rowney for example. Good sable haired brushes and synthetic haired brushes by quality manufacturers will last for many years if well looked after. Always store brushes with the bristles up in a jar of similar after cleaning. Many brushes have a protective plastic tube to slip down carefully over the hairs for protection. The temptation to buy cheap brushes will only end in disappointment as they tend to shed hairs like a moulting dog! They do have their uses for applying liquid cements etc.

Not sure if the Carol Burnett show was ever shown on UK TV Chris. Another memorable film that Maggie Smith started in was The Lady In The Van where she portrayed a true story about a woman who lived in a van on writer Alan Bennett's driveway in London during the 70's.

The famous English stage, TV and film actress Dame Maggie Smith has died recently. Probably most recently well known for her role as deputy head of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, also as the Dowager Dutchess with the acerbic tongue in the TV series and film of Downton Abbey as well as other memorable film, TV and theatre appearances. A truly great actress who will be very much missed by both theatre and cinema goers alike.

No, I don't think so Pete. Model Motorcars Ltd is a different site alfogether, specialising in Pocher model builds and offering upgrade parts for the old and new Pocher kits.
