  1. Claypool calls Purple Onion his "midlife crisis album"........
  2. Are you sure it was deceased? It could have just been playing, um.... well, you know.........
  3. I had a 1:1 '71 Sweptline for a while. Same basic truck...... You nailed the look of it!
  4. This build is MOST superlative! The proportions of the scratch built body are perfect, the details are all perfect......... It's just perfect!
  5. That's a nice car...... Probably something not often seen there!
  6. Thank you, Dennis..... Yes, it's a GREAT kit! The most fully represented model kit I've encountered.....
  7. Still working on this, guys! The interior is pretty much done....... I dropped the dash, so I had to put it back together........ Also, I've done some detail painting on the bumpers....... I use these paint pens for a lot of stuff, they're very handy! Just showing a bit of progress! Please feel free to comment.........
  8. Thanks, man, but I'll have to pass....... We're not really allowed to buy/sell here on the forum. Thanks for wanting to help, though!
  9. Wow! That looks worse than the Delorean-based car......
  10. I've had the MPC Coyote kit in the past. I tried to build it box stock, but that proved pretty much impossible........ What I did notice about the body is the rear "haunches" are more curvy on the 1:1 and they're kinda flattened out on the model......
  11. Hey, Friend..... It might would! I'm unfamiliar with that kit. It sounds vintage and rare, though...... I believe I'll just grab a Tamiya kit, since they're cheap and readily available....
  12. I think what I should probably do is get the MPC Coyote kit first since I'll definitely be needing it, then I could figure out the wheelbase needed and go from there.....
  13. I have those, too..... and I'm barely in my 40s!
  14. Thanks for the responses, Fellas...... This is all most helpful! I have it from a very reliable source and wealth of info that the engine in the hero car wasn't the basic VW engine, it was the 411 series engine, which has a lower profile........ (If I understand that correctly)
  15. Would it be this kit, Les man? https://www.modelroundup.com/product-p/tamiya-24136.htm
  16. Hello, guys.... I have planned for a future project the Coyote X from the old '80s TV show. The car in the first season was based on a VW pan. I'm in need of a Beetle kit that has a full pan assembly that is separate from the body. One that carries all the suspension and drive train on the pan assembly. I'll be trying to join this with the body from the MPC kit....... Thanks for any info.........!
  17. A lot of getting a nice shiny paint job has to do with how smooth your primer is...... It's really mostly in the prep work! That, and spray technique... When I spray anything, I always shoot for close, fast passes. That goes for primer, too. Clear especially gets sprayed "wet" so there's little if any polishing needed. This model wasn't polished, I just shot the coats of everything as wet as I could without getting runs. Again, close fast passes will get you less orange peel than "mist" coats.........
  18. and If you're better than them at something, they won't let you do it....... I am/was a house painter (no, I don't drink....) by trade. My cousin runs a little painting business. The guys that help him aren't the greatest. When they saw that I could paint quarter-round shoe molding without getting any on the floor, they flat out refused to let me work!
  19. Some 'soft rock' is just prog rock in disguise......... Alan Parsons Project, 10cc, it's what the progressive rock turned into...
  20. Oh, Lord........ You guys wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've seen from backyard mechanics........ I've seen welds like the ones pictured called "Gorilla Welds", as in Big, Ugly, but Strooooong! More like Inept, Stupid, and Wrooooong!
  21. Yea, you'll need to cover the floor stampings somehow...... Thanks!
  22. I'm the biggest Steely Dan fan, man..... I've never heard of this album! Does anyone cover "Do It Again"? Gonna need to check it out........
  23. Carpet is all done........ Now to just build up the interior!
  24. You must use that to help you sleep! I listen to all kinds of stuff, from Afro Pop World music to free form Improv Jam/Jazz........ Napster has all that stuff.... I'm talking with a guy that I got my current computer from, He's gonna work out a deal for me. I'm not looking forward to switching everything over to a new unit, though!
  25. I usually don't have much to gripe about, but......... My preferred music streaming service (Napster) has changed hands. The new owners have "improved" the site to make it more phone friendly. I can't even access the site anymore from my Win7 desktop. I'm gonna have to upgrade to a Win10 unit....... High time I do that anyway! I'm hoping that Napster is just being glitchy, but I doubt it.........
