Favorite Obscure or Discovered Music Album
JollySipper replied to afx's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Very few people even know who he was! I never cared for his music, but I was a fan of him, himself.... Cobain was a big fan, and was known to sport a t-shirt with Johnston on it......... -
Favorite Obscure or Discovered Music Album

How obscure is this one? Neo-psychedelic Japanese noise rock...... They're called Acid Mother's Temple.... -
Mowing the lawn was my job. I was pushing a mower by the time I could reach the handle.... In my teen years we had over an acre lawn. It took about 5 hours to push with a Murray 22" mower. Then came all the trimming..... The year I moved out, he bought a riding mower........

Mine THOUGHT he was............. Dumbest rule I have to say was 'shirt tail in and belt on' at all times, even just around the house....

Thanks for the kind comments, Guys........ Carl, I was just wondering if I should paint the roof insert or leave it body color like I did the running boards..... Still not sure, I'll probably just leave it.
-
I've got the fenders mounted and trim rings and hubcaps on the wheels....... I decided to leave the running boards the body color, still unsure about the roof insert......
-
Thanks a whole bunch, Guys........ Today I'm working on a little bit of assembly, maybe I'll have more progress soon!
-
Cool, it is a nice color and super metallic! Speaking of which, I was able to get ALL of the body parts in paint today. Was also able to get a coat of clear on everything... Here's just the main parts...... Here's a look at how the colors will work together..... This clear works really good, but it takes a looooong time to dry. That's today's post on progress, please feel free to comment!

What kind of shavings do you have as their bedding? I ask because the wrong type can be toxic to them........
-
Thanks guys....... There will be less orange in the mix once I apply the trim rings and hubcaps.
-
Thanks, Carl! I wanted kind of a formal theme, but still a hot rod....... I've been working on getting the body in primer today. Lots of body pieces to this one! Also joined the engine to the chassis. There's still some parts to go before the engine is complete... The firewall will be white like the engine....
-
Thanks, guys..... Here's a better look at the body color. It's DupliColor Bronze Wheel Coating. This spoon only has two coats of the clear on it and really only needed one.......
-
Hey, guys..... I had been working on this one earlier in the year. I'm using DupliColor wheel coating for the body, and finding a clear that would work over it was proving difficult. I called DupliColor's help line, and they told me that their 1X clear would work.... So now that I have a can of that, I can continue the build. This will be pretty much box stock. I wanted kind of a neo-traditional hot rod, so I'm using what I feel are more contemporary colors. Hopefully it will come together as I go.... So far I have just the interior and chassis done. I'll be using the Ford small block so I can build this full-fendered. I'm still working on the engine, and am getting the body parts ready for primer.... That's what's going on at the build table right now. Please comment freely and thanks for looking!

Since I started building as a preteen, some things have changed about how I build, some things have stayed the same. For instance, I still use the old orange tube glue that I've always used (except for glass parts and small chrome bits). How I do my paint jobs has changed a bunch, though. The subjects have pretty much stayed throughout my building, too. Muscle cars, some sport cars, and mild customs. Are there things that you still do that you've always done? How about things you do now that are different from how you used to do them? Just curious about the evolution of the forum members building processes.......

I really like these little rodent creatures! I had a hamster that lived for 2 1/2 years.... He was nocturnal, as I believe mice are. I never handled him just with my hands out of fear of dropping or hurting him. I always put him in his little run-about ball, then I could carry him anywhere...... Good that you got more than one, mice are social creatures and don't do good alone.....

How can I make these tires look better

Tamiya makes a black rubber color in a spray can....... I've never used it, but I bet it looks right as rubber, coming from Tamiya....... -

Anyone heard of these guys? They're called TV on the Radio....... Kinda "noise rock", but they have a bit of Pop sensibilities and can write an actual song..... -
Thank you there, Atin! It looks a lot better as just the line drawing...... I need to work on things like shading for realism......

Working Around Red Plastic?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is what I'm finding out...... I've painted an AMT kit molded in orange, and a Monogram kit molded in red, but this old Revell kit is kicking my butt trying to work with it. I'll get a stain blocking primer, hopefully sometime this week..... I'll let you guys know how it goes..... -

I would have bought that just for the very cool cover art! Looks like a '67 Plymouth......
