Well, guys, I'm working on assembly! Thought I should show y'all what I'm having to do to get this together...... The way the kit is designed, you're to put the glass into it's locations, then put the top on the body. With the top in place, it was all but impossible to install the rear glass. I ended up having to put two small pieces of tape on the rear glass, then kind of drop it in place. Once where it needed to be, I glued it in with PVA glue...... The pic shows the yellow tape holding in the rear glass. Now I'm installing the interior..... Have to feed it in from the bottom, too...... So, that's it for now....... Thanks!

Bench racing the AMT surfer van

The Revell '64 Impala 'lowrider' has a pretty cool decal sheet! There's a large mural-sized decal of the Grim Master himself, with two sheets you'd have the mural for both sides........ It's a pretty easy kit to find, or you could trade for the decals...... -
1/16 MPC '57 Corvette..... decent kit?

It's good to hear that they're a little better than the AMT....... The recent Thunderbird from AMT has some super nice slotted wheels, though! -
Thank You, Carl! Now comes assembly.... I've been going over how this needs to go together, hopefully I have a plan!

More natural light inside?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks, Guys..... This is all really good info! Guess I'm on the lookout for some daylight bulbs......... -
Hey, guys! I have a lot of trouble with the lighting that I have here inside my apartment when it comes to taking pics..... I can never capture the color of what I'm shooting. I'll show you an example..... This body is very close to the green in this first pic..... That pic is under an overcast sky outside in natural light. You can clearly see it's green... This below pic was taken on top of my oven under a couple long florescent light bulbs on the ceiling, and a CF bulb under my range hood. It looks like a completely different color! So, is there a way, maybe some sort of special bulb or something, that would give me more natural colors when I shoot my models? I'm thinking of ordering a magnifying lamp here soon, maybe the LEDs in it would help? Thanks for any ideas and discussion!

Guys, I was able to get a coat of the 1K clear on everything today! I tried to snap some pics outside to try and capture the color better.... Don't tell anyone my secret parts-holding technique! I'll have to wait a few days before I can do much else.......... We're getting close to assembly, though!

Metallica has released some music recently, it's just as good if not better than their earlier stuff...... Very heavy, but very technical playing all in one!

Albums I could listen to forever and never tire of? Cake..... Fashion Nugget. This album kinda shaped my way of thinking when I was younger. Primus..... Pork Soda. This one is about lonerism and isolation, something I've dealt with a lot, especially as a teen. Meat Puppets..... II. Just an all around good album! Hum..... You'd prefer an astronaut. It's a concept album about him and his girl's stellar love affair. Tool..... Lateralus. This album came out right when I needed it in my life......

It's more of a teal color....... I'll try to get some outside pics so the color will show better. The clear is DupliColor's 1K in the big can, which may be the last can of it that I buy, as I have some troubles working with it. I can't shoot the clear today, as they mowed our lawns today, so there's debris flying around............ I really am thankful that y'all look in on this!

review of '57 T-Bird, 1/25 scale, w/ photos
JollySipper replied to fiatboy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
That's the transmission that a manual T-Bird would have had...... 3 speed w/ overdrive. -
I did get some blushing with the color coat, but the clear I'll be using isn't affected too much by humidity........ if I waited until the weather was less humid, I'd have to wait another month or so.......

Whew! I wet sanded everything that goes body color earlier today, and was able to get two coats of the Pacific Green on it all.... Hopefully I can get some clear on it tomorrow.

Hey, Guys! Just wanted to show you all how I dealt with the seams on this body......... I've done this before on a few small seams and it turned out pretty good. I just used some pva glue to fill 'em. Kinda like what a house painter would use caulk for! I'll let this dry for some time, and I'm sure it will shrink, so I may have to go back over the worst of it......
