  1. No way he's about to put a brand new 'Vette through a car wash..........
  2. Well, it looks really good! and It's not necessary to clear over your decals, unless you just want to..... I don't believe they were cleared over from the factory.
  3. That's a Really nice bronze! Mind if I ask what paint it is?
  4. I was hoping you would, Carl! THANKS A BUNCH, GUYS..........
  5. Hey, fellow builders! Just got this in the mail Tuesday. I've attempted large scale builds before, but the subject matter that they were didn't inspire me enough to want to detail them as much as these large scale kits need. The cove side 'Vettes are definitely one of my favorite cars though, so maybe it will be easier to stay motivated on this one. Plans for the color scheme are black with silver coves, and a red interior....... So far I've only cleaned the parts with hot soapy water and glued the engine halves together. Nothing worthy of pics yet, but I did want to let y'all know what I'm working on. Here's the box....... Anyway, that's what I've got going on at the bench for now! Thanks for looking in, guys......
  6. Getting to enjoy some Birthday pineapple upside-down cake! I get one every year, have since I was little......
  7. and I would like the black Mercury (Marauder?), please and thank you!
  8. You could start with some simple things, like battery cables and heater hoses........ If you wanted to go all out, pick one of the good builders here (like Mr. Guthmiller, one of the best here! ) and follow their WIP threads...... Usually they will explain what all has been done.
  9. It CAN be used on plastic, but the sandable primer HAS to be sanded to get it smooth. I would recommend the filler primer from DC instead...... it dries smooth, so it's not always necessary to sand it.......
  10. It seems that Aleene's and Mr. Hobby both make an acrylic clear in a spray........ Anyone ever use either of those?
  11. I have in the past...... I believe that particular trick is to mostly keep light from coming through. I'm not 100% sure though. I haven't gotten the kit yet (it's on it's way...), I'm just gathering info so I can decide which clear to purchase........
  12. Hello, fellow builders! I have a project coming up that the majority of the kit is molded in red..... I'll be painting it black and silver. I sometimes have the color leaching problem with colored plastics when it comes to the clear coats. I'm wondering..... How 'solvent-hot' is engine enamel clear? I understand that it has to withstand high temps, but I'm not sure how chemically hot it would have to be to do that. Really, I'm just looking for a clear spray that won't leach the dyes from what I'm working on....... Thanks for any and all help, guys!
  13. I'm blinded now, but those are nice paint jobs! I really like the color of the Challenger.......
  14. Greg, would the static charge be caused by the air rushing across the surface of the plastic, while the vent fan is running? Could wiping the interior of the booth with a dryer sheet help against that? Being careful not to touch the model with it, of course...........
  15. The Big Three.......... Buick, Olds, and Pontiac.
  16. Looks really good....... Excellent idea with the red strip! This kit is really nice to build......
  17. There's a few van kits, I believe...... Both Tamiya and Gunze Sangyo made a Ghia. I've built the Gunze one, it's curbside but looks pretty accurate.....
  18. Excellent work! The cove-side 'Vettes are a favorite of mine........
  19. Does Mr. Stillwagon have an IG account? I searched but there's several users with his name... His style of building is what mine would be if I had his talent!
  20. Ah, the Iron Fist........... Hetfield has a lot of super nice cars! Someone should build the Crimson Ghost, it's my favorite of his.........
  21. So, working on applying the trim! The rocker strip and rub strip........ Note to self, next time place all the exterior trim before paint, then foil and paint as needed. The rub strip is three pieces, one for each panel it's on...... It's gonna be tough to do this cleanly!
  22. Thanks a bunch, Bill! I've made more progress........... I guess this is together for the final time.
  23. Thanks, Pete! The way I did it, it didn't require any filler at all..........
  24. Guys, I had put this away for a while..... I've decided to bring it back out and finish it up! I put some decals on it in an attempt to add visual interest. Really all I have left to do is install the taillights (again), put the body and chassis together, then finish up the trim pieces......
  25. Work is a four letter word to a lot of people.......
