Build-A-Bimmer Werkshop..... All things Bavarian.
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Community Builds
I can't really start on this in earnest until I get some primer, which should happen tomorrow........ The primer I have isn't behaving well with this Hasegawa plastic. It's too hot for it. In the meantime, I'm just doing small stuff for the interior....... I found something rather amusing in the instructions! I guess something is lost in translation......... -

Needing some advice regarding employment
JollySipper replied to stitchdup's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I believe Mr. Alflen gave the best advice! Chill for a month or two, decide what you'd like to do, then ease back into doing something you enjoy........ Do you like to paint, as in houses? I remember you did some refinishing at your Mom's house........ -
Leprechaun in my cereal won't let me have the marshmallows, says they're magic or something.

That's a super nice Charger! My old man has this one (if it's okay to post it?), a '73 model 'Aztec' Charger......... Aztec was an appearance package. As for the 400 engine, it was just a bored 383..... They were trying to replace high compression with cubic inches, running on that new fangled unleaded gasoline....

That's what I was hoping the wheel could represent.... I need clear orange for the indicator lenses, so more than likely I'll put some on the wheel, too..... -
Hello, fellow model builders! I hope it's okay to start a topic here..... I was just wanting to open a thread about anything to do with BMW. This thread can be a place to show both works in progress, or for completed builds. Anything to do with this lovely automotive company, from motorcycles, to full-on race cars, and everything in between! I guess I should get things going for us! I just got the Hasegawa 2002 tii yesterday..... This is a very nice kit! They have you start with the interior, since there's no engine to speak of. So far I just have the wheel and shifter done...... I'll be going with a tan and black interior, and hopefully silver for the exterior....... So, if any of you guys want to share either finished builds or progress on one, please feel free to do so!

One thing I do when sanding primer (which is all I sand, not the paint or clear...), is while I'm wet sanding, to flow a stream of water over what I'm working on...... If the water flows out and looks slick, then the paint should do the same.

Those are Dobermans, but I doubt you'll find a 'Pinscher Polka' anywhere............

This is probably my favorite kit! What you've done looks really good......

What Did You Have for Dinner?

What's your favorite from there, Bill? I enjoy the steak Chalupa supreme and the Mexican pizza........ -

Another piece of meat from my indoor grill......... This time we had a porkchop with my favorite barbecue sauce (Bull's Eye 'Everyday' sauce) accompanied by a salad with mixed lettuce, cucumber, sunflower seeds and dried cranberries, with buttermilk Ranch........ -
Thank You, Bill! I had some trouble getting the interior into the body....... I ended up having to mount the dash in the body first after the windshield went in. Then the interior went in without too much problem........
-
Here we go, guys! I'm on the home stretch with this one........... I'm not going to hinge the doors, I'll just glue them closed when I add them.

And just like primer on bare wood will raise the grain, causing you to have to sand again, some primers on bare plastic will bring up the swirls in the plastic itself, causing you to need to sand and prime again.....

and It's such a pretty plane, too! Thanks for the pics, Ray.........

Duplicolor paint
JollySipper replied to Steveng's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nah, Friend.... This is the primer I meant. It's in their 11 oz can..... and it doesn't 'fill' really, as in losing a bunch of detail. I usually put two wet coats on the bare plastic, then color coats....... -
Alan Parsons had a bunch of good stuff! When I was small I had an 8-track of some of his music....... Can't remember exactly which album, but it had "Games People Play" on it.

Duplicolor paint
JollySipper replied to Steveng's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Duplicolor filler primer, Duplicolor Perfect Match color coats, then their 1K high gloss clear is my go-to formula right now...... Their sandable primer in the big cans isn't that great, as you HAVE to sand it to smooth it before paint. The filler primer dries smooth, so there's little need to do much sanding of it......... -
Favorite Obscure or Discovered Music Album

Fans of Radiohead will like this one........... Thom Yorke is on vocals. -
Do any of you have Trillium harassing you to accept their services? I had a person come to my place and get invited in under false pretenses...... They said they were from the company that manages my psychiatric meds. I let them in, but soon realized they were lying....... Before they left, it gave me a bogus phone number to get mine. One of those "is your number still......." things........ These people are crooked! I have an insurance policy that covers all my care, so I don't have any need for them........

Are you supposed to dance to Steely Dan?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
They were more concerned with "listenability", it had to sound just right!
