Thanks guys, yes unusual kits and decal work is my speciality. I love it!
-
A very nice 1/32nd scale kit.................... Realising that it was a reasonably old kit, I scanned the decals to my PC and sized them on a Word page. Although I gave the decals a couple of coats of gloss clear they still collapsed when trying to lay them onto the body. So I printed the Word image onto a new clear decal sheet, then after drying gave them two coats of gloss clear and used those in the build.

What did you see on the road today?
PatW replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've seen (no camera with me at the time) quite a few new Jaguar 4X4's and two McLaren 570S supercars, but we are just 5 miles from Silverstone so it's not surprising! -
Yes this Subaru Wagon 1:1 seems to be pretty rare in the UK. But plenty of Impreza's as the Prodrive factory is 18 miles away and quite a few rally WRC replica's as well.

Although going against my recent selling spree of all car kits of 1/24 & 1/25 due to lack of space my youngest son has always wanted a 1:1 of these in this colour to carry his mountain bike a gear around in. He does cross country on his bike, wereas the eldest son does more downhill. He was looking for a decent reasonaly priced second-hand one, but he bought a BMW 3 series touring wagon in the same colour!

Superb paint job, well done!

Superb finish, colours and decals. I built one of these a year or so ago, very nice kit. Well done.

Thanks Steve. Yes they are quite nimble as you say on mountain roads, imagine if you had 3 times the power!
-
Thanks again afx. I will remember to look at the plans/boxtop a little closer next time!

Thanks guys.

Yes Dann we see quite a few testing at the Silverstone Race Circuit just 5 miles from here. Here's a picture of mine that looks at the Minisprint (slight roof chop and all rain gutters removed for greater aerodynamics) that was produced in the '60's. This shows Stirling Moss having a look over it with the designer and product engineer before a one-off drive by Stirling. It was thought to have parts if not most of a Brabham F3 engine in it, albiet only 1300cc. After the test drive Stirling was said to comment on how fast it was for a front wheel drive racer and he enjoyed himself immensely!

Cheers Marty.

Thanks to afx who has PM'd me, the rear wing was upside down! What a twit am I, don't answer that. Here it is all sorted.......................

Thanks again Dann, I'm pleased I kept this one, rather than sell it! Yes just to think that little turbo-charged cars with just a 1.6 litre engine turn out nearly 300 brake horse power!
-
Thanks for the compliments FabbricaP. Yes this is certainly better looking than the official works factory cars, and the long decals suit me, with plenty of colour!
-
I originally chose this 206 against the factory ones for it's bright colours. It's been on the shelf for a few or more years, the Tamiya decals still being perfect. This is one I kept back from my sale of 30+ kits............ I made two changes to the build........the roof camera was not used on the 1:1 of this car but as it was in the kit I inculded it and I changed the grill with alloy mesh.

Due to lack of display space left I'm selling all or most of my 1/24 & 1/25 kits and planes, so buying smaller 1/32 and 1/43rd kits. Got this yesterday from ebay here in the UK for just £5.99!

Yes one of my nearly local suppliers, got Tamiya spray paints and McLaren MP4-12C decals yesterday, should get some more tyre decals today. They must have worked over the Bank Holiday weekend to get them out! What a service!

Thanks Dave. I'm trying to come to grips with doing a great job with paint and decals and them weathering them and making them 'dirty'! But buying 1/32 and 1/43 rd kits for a few pounds and then buying decals for them at £16 is a bit galling, as with the focus! It's also a space saving issue, I've sold 30+ kits on the bay over the last month as I'm seriously running out of display space.

Whilst clearing out and selling a lot of stuff, I came across a 43rd boxed Subaru, made by Airfix, with decals, paints and brush, licenced to sell in Marks & Spencers stores here in the UK over Christmas, perhaps upwards of 10 years ago. Also two other plastic bagged Airfix Rallycars in 43rd without decals, of the Peugeot 206 and the Ford Focus, and splashed out 2 or 3 years ago for a set of of Columbia made decals for the Focus. So I've built all three. Please I'm still no good at painting the black around window frames! And it's Big Brother.......................
