Thanks Jason. Yes they were especially when after building and painting the body, you look at the decal sheet and realise that the advertising decal at the front of the doors is one piece . So therefore being shocked that the rest of the decal starting with the number 29 is one piece right to and over the rear wheel arch! Plenty of soaking in warm water and using a large bristle model brush also soaking the side of the car to stop the decal snagging on a dry surface during the lay-up! Then breathing afterwards! I normally lay-up all decals on a body before fitting to the chassis. In this case realising that some of the decals overlap the glass, fit all windows first then fit the body to the chassis. But I normally clearcoat before assembly to make sure the decals don't dry and fall off! I've had a few older kits do that in the past. So lay up all decals, await to dry, find a large head craft brush and carefully paint on the clear coat from a small Humbrol tin! And it worked far better than I first imagined!

Yes they said the cheque for $37 would take 8-10 weeks!

Thanks MarkJ. Yes the closure of Scale Auto was a big shame. I've tried to recover my subscription, although they've said OK I've had no refund as yet!

Thanks guys, no the decals weren't easy but satisfying when completed!

Firstly...I love decals, then again it's a good job! Built box stock..

What will you do with the diecast Willys? I've always shied away from diecast's because everything is already done.

Over the years we've seen numerous Anglia rods like this on their way to our local drag strip at Santa Pod. Superb build, a very nice change to the usual Anglia dragster, well done!

Just some decals on a Cartoon Nascar build.. I shall just check the bottom of this one tomorrow and put some decal juice on there to smooth things out. Why don't the instructions tell us to put the chrome hood pins on 'after' the decals! -
Thanks guys, yes it's much too clean! I don't know what happens where you live but the taxi's here in the UK seem not to have indicators fitted either!

Thank you TonyK. Yes as a firm racing enthusiast I tend to try and put tyre markings on most things. I went over the wheels with matt black paint and rubbed off the excess while the paint was still wet. As well as choosing the low settings for the suspension.

I don't know if this should be here or in 'Light Commercial'? Built box stock, side door can be fixed open or closed as can the suspension in high or low..

Fantastic looking workhorse! -
Yes it's difficult using airbrushes! I tried some years ago and now just use spray rattle cans and get some fantastic finishes without all the hassle of mixing this and that and having the hassle of cleaning everything airbrush side afterwards! I even do hydro-dip where you have a tub of warm/hot water spray on the the surface with various acrylic colours, stir and dip the body in or other parts you want coloured!

I've got the last Scale Auto Contest Cars 2020 that they have produced. I shall miss that each year!

I remember these on the stages as a rally marshal in the day! I remember both drivers Malcolm Wilson and Tony Pond driving them. In fact a friend had a custom exhaust business (exhausts for both rally and F1) and he replaced the shortened V8 they had in the car to a full blown Rover V8 as his daily driver to & fro his business each day, awesome! As a kit I hear it is great, to me as a retiree far too expensive.
