I painted the 3D roof rack.. and test fitted to my latest project, the legs are quite pliable so fit the roof gutters well..

It's a soon to be new re-release. I'll get back to you when it lands.

Two sports cars outside our local Subway, The latest top of the range Aston Martin Vanquish and one of these.. The new brand (well changed from Renault) Alpine. Both cars parked side by side and both drivers and passengers with a Subway meal. OK but the only places open at the time! Yes Covid-19 lockdown and the Fish and Chip Shop closed next door as it was a Sunday!

This I bought through Shapeways, produced by Kingtoys. This is my first, and hopefully not my last attempt at painting a one piece 3D model in 1/24. Do the same as any kit, wash first in hot soapy water and air dry. As these are reasonably soft plastic, acrylic paints are needed. A good undercoat/basecoat. I painted mine with a brush, firstly with a bright yellow gloss, but it dried so quickly it looked rough. The engine/gearbox, seat handlebar grips and tyres are matt black and the rest of the body gloss black. I put Molotow chrome on the exhaust and wheels and as an undercoat for the rear shock and brake light in clear red acrylic. I have two more projects from Shapeways also in 1/24, a tuned VW aircooled engine and a VW Van/Bus/Camper roofrack.

I've nearly finished to two I'm working on at the moment, one being a 3D Ruckus Scooter, which is a wash and paint as it's all in one piece, and the other is a Heller Citroen Mehari kit. test fitting the roof.

We have very few 'Muscle Cars' here in the UK, because they are too expensive to run. So as an ex-Scale Auto reader/subscriber I wouldn't buy it.

LOTS! Budget allowing! Happy New Year to you all! Hopefully off the wall stuff!

Today some work on a Heller Citroen Mehari.. So wheels/tyres on, dashboard, steering column, gearchange and pedals. Also front seats. On one of my recent purchases from Shapeways a 3D Honda based Custom Ruckus scooter.. From the Shapeways site. Today, brush painting undercoats, prior to a matt black engine, gloss black floor board and yellow gloss body/frame. All have to be in Acrylic paints. I also bought from Shapeways.. A 3D VW tuned air-cooled Beetle engine.. And a Westphalia VW Bus/Camper Roof Rack.. As these are all 3D printed painting them is.. let's say Interesting!

Having taken the Scale Auto magazine for more years that I can remember. It's a great shame that MCM is not available here in the UK!

I've ordered today some pieces from Shapeways the 3D site. They are all 1/24th scale. Custom Ruckus scooter by Kingtoy. VW Beetle Engine by Ron Rolson -3D Model Specialists Westphalia VW Bus/Camper roof rack by Rial Road Tom. I'm advised that they will be shipped around the 21st December.

THis is just fantastic! All I would like to know, to try and build something similar is...are most of the extra parts scratchbuilt?
