Rubbing fenders is one thing...running someone into the wall to cause a wreck like that...not only bad sportsmanship, but considering they already had the title...why was it necessary? The Corvette was clearly faster. The difference...a porcupine's pr*cks are on the outside.

Holy c r a p! That was an amazing end to the race. Don't know what to think about the GT2 fiasco...that was a hair raising race at the end, rubbing fenders is one thing, but the Porsche didn't get a penalty for causing that wreck? I guess it's still true what they say about the difference between Porsches and porcupines

Nice GTO! Did you blend in the roof? Isn't this kit molded as a CV w/a separate HT that needs molding in? Or is it resin?

NO. I look at "view new posts" when I come here...I don't want to see any political stuff show up in that list. I don't bloody care what side of the fence one's political viewpoints are, either. This place is for model cars. There are countless places on the 'net to discuss your politics with passion. This place should be free of that stuff. I get enough bombardment of political stuff in other places, including Facebook. If I have to sift through a bunch of that nonsense here, I have no further reason to visit. It kills my enthusiasm for my hobby when I have to be subjected to it from every corner, and if the hobby becomes entrenched in that nonsense, then it's no longer a hobby for me. Is it too much to ask that we keep divisive issues off of forums like this? Seriously...you guys can blather on all you want in other places. This place will be ruined, for me, if it goes down the path of allowing political discussion. Please do not do it.

Great model! Very inspiring. I can't wait for this kit to be available, I want to build 2 or 3 of them. Thank you for keeping us informed/excited for the new kit by showing your work, and to Lindberg for letting you share it ahead of time.

You do great work...but you are spamming this forum to sell your items first and foremost rather than to show them off...posting them in multiple locations is one reason I feel this way. Model Cars has a free auction site to auction your models (emodelcars). This isn't a buy & sell forum. Remove the Ebay references and you'll get a lot more respect for these beautiful models

1/25 Revell '72 Hurst/Olds Cutlass Kit
Zoom Zoom replied to W-Machine's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Revell has been showing built up test shots at several shows this summer, and obviously they'll be well represented at the upcoming hobby show later this month. So the kit is out there and probably close to production, perhaps by the end of the year it will be on the shelf. It looked pretty good in the few small photos I saw, my only concerns were the apparent lack of an uptop, and wheels/tires that looked like they were too far inboard (narrow track?). Revell's website is rather disappointing if you want any real information on any model, whether current or upcoming. Revell AG is so much better in this respect, they have many photos of test shots and built examples of their new kits, even PDF files of the instruction sheets. The Revell US website is not very helpful at all for giving much of any information about their products. Revell AG's website allows a bit of "buzz" on their new kits, Revell USA's website is the antithesis of "buzzworthy". Lots of people are linking the Revell AG site to forums "hey, look...Revell has photos of their new Ferrari California...", whereas Revell USA has such a lame website nobody bothers except to order replacement parts -
Gorgeous model Love the paint scheme.

The photo is of the driver's side There is no external rear view mirror on the subject. There's a reflection in the paint where an external mirror is usually mounted.

Coming soon from Missing Link .. 78 LTD Sedan
Zoom Zoom replied to SteveG's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Is the one Missing Link is doing based on the one you sent Randy? Regardless, this will make a lot of police car and mainstreamer fans happy. -
There is no side view mirror...

I built a couple of the Ford GT's and liked them, both got new wheels/tires, and overall it's a pretty good kit. BTW, the '05 GTO and Ford GT front tires are perfect "realistic sidewall" replacement tires for the Revell tuner wheels. They fit perfectly. I built a few of the '05 GTO's, and I had to fix the headlights/foglamps on them . The basic kit was pretty decent, but I could slap whomever decided to penny pinch that kit on it's very face. Making those headlights/foglamps so ridiculously un-detailed (and the license plate holes about 4X larger than scale and not flashed over) was a major cop-out. Absolutely the worst place possible on any model kit is to make the whole thing look good, until you get to the very face of it!! It screamed "we are too cheap, modelers won't care". And yes, the instructions were garbage. Clearly Polar Lights was hobbled by some very poor decision making somewhere along the line. And yet I liked that GTO well enough to fix the most obvious problems (would it have killed them to put reflector contours behind the headlight covers? I swear...it was as if the person who made this decision was the same one behind those awful composite headlights done on MPC promos/kits...you know, those composite units that were chrome plated...and looked absolutely awful!). I built only one Coronet, was bored to the brink of narcolepsy, and never bothered to get another, no inspiration to have a better one. Ron's GTO looks so good I might revisit mine someday. As soon as Polar Lights went down the predecorated snap kits for Wal Mart path, we were bound to end up with threads like this. Sometimes the kit can rise above, other times they're hobbled mercilessly.

Tamiya doesn't have a color that's close...the Nissan color is a metallic/pearl. Closest hobby paint would likely be Testors Icy Blue one coat lacquer w/a coat of Tamiya transparent blue over it. Or go w/Scalefinishes and use an airbrush.

Ferrari 458 Italia
Zoom Zoom replied to vizio93's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll take one in my driveway and three on my bench! Gorgeous car. Some don't like it (much like I despise the California), but this is the first time since the F355 that I liked the new car at first glance. I wasn't wild about the 360 Modena until I saw one on the street nearby..and WOW. I never really warmed to the F430's ovoid face, but the gorgeous Scuderia took care of that. I hated the 612 at first...have some good respect for it now, didn't like the 599 at first (especially the pentagram wheels), but it's now a favorite. I figured I'd like the California when seeing it in person. Nope! Hate it even more Poor car is riddled with design compromises. I'd like to see Tamiya or Fujimi do the kit, even Revell AG. Doesn't matter who, as long as it is a good model. -
Well, that is just shocking! I will never buy another model kit at Wal Mart! Oh...wai...

Sadly the Coronet and GTO in the series were rather halfhearted attempts at models. I assume they were meant to be better, but somewhere along the way someone either cut budget, cut designers out of the loop, rushed things along that shouldn't be rushed...everything a good kit does not need to happen in development. So we're stuck w/a '65 Coronet kit, while much cheaper than an original kit (that had it's own accuracy issues), just doesn't capture the character of the real car very well. Weak engraving, proportional issues, detail issues, that horrific side trim (drawn with a straight edge, it's as flat as Kansas, when it should make an gentle downwards arc from front to rear), sectioned body...I built one mostly OOB and it's a pretty "bleh" model to look at. Thankfully I didn't pay much for it. In the grand scheme of things, value-wise it's basically a $5 model in accuracy, detail, and satisfaction. The paint from Polar Lights models strips nicely with 91% or stronger alcohol.

While I don't miss either one of those a bit (historically those kind of offbeat antiques done by Revell in the past 10-15 years or so have been much anticipated but not great sellers, and I like to think I could list out a number of other subjects that would sell much better), I am bummed by kits like the Revell '62 Corvette being killed, ditto their full-detail tuner CRX, the Polar Lights Waldorf Corvette Nomad & 2005 Mustang CV's being dropped, AMT dropping the Bentley Continental GT and the Foose models...it's happened so many times that I just don't have faith in any announcement being real until I see a test shot or kits on the shelves. Revell Germany, Fujimi, Aoshima, Tamiya all have been good at announcing a new model, and then showing progress on their websites. Photos of test shots, photos of the finished models, before they hit the shelves. Why can't Revell USA and Lindberg do the same? Their websites are nearly useless. In this day and age, having a lame website is not a good business decision. All they have to do is look at the examples I cited above, and perhaps they might get a clue that it's a good thing to drum up a little bit of "buzz" on upcoming products, instead of leaving everyone hanging in a vacuum of zero information. Put up a few photos, have someone keep a blog, have a Facebook page...that's how to do business these days. It's not 1995 anymore.

Lookin' good there so far!

The joys of people opening up 3 year old threads. The Full Throttle kits were all smoke and mirrors. Nothing happened. The Foose craze seems to have waned. In other words, I hope nobody is getting any of their hopes up. The hobby show is coming up soon. There will likely be some new models shown that are close to or in production. I'm sure there will be some new models announced. I'm also sure some of them will be delayed by indeterminate amounts of time, and I'm also sure some of them will never see the light of day. Lather, rinse, repeat. With Japanese/German hobby shows, I can get excited over new model announcements because they are real...the models are already well along the way. US companies have spent too many years using hobby shows to drum up business and generate budgets. I'm tired of lists of models that never see the light of day, or that get continually delayed. Until I see a test shot, I fail to get excited. It's just easier that way

Nice build of the Al Jolson Cadillac It's a neat kit, the 1:1 is still around at the National Auto Museum in Reno (formerly Harrahs). Last time I saw it was at Pebble Beach in 2000.

Is Revell watching this thread, too???

Fujimi did the bB as well, and there is no Element model out there by anyone. -

Regular Bondo is a bit grainy and is a bit harder to sand than spot putties. Evercoat glazing/spot putty is nice, but it is expensive. Regular Bondo spot putty (red stuff in a tube) has to be applied in very thin coats and shrinks a lot (it dries without a catalyst). The polyester putties like Bondo and Evercoat are much better/stable because they cure quickly, and you can start sanding much sooner. Recently I noticed a new Bondo product at Pep Boys. Right next to the old-fashioned spot putty they have a new 2 part spot putty in a tube (with a separate small container of catalyst). It's about $8, which is about 1/4 what I paid last time for Evercoat. That would be my suggestion...find the tube of catalyzed 2 part Bondo spot putty...mix it up as directed, apply, and it should sand down quite nicely. Spot putties are more finely ground than old-fashioned Bondo, much more suitable for models.
