  1. Exactly! No need to fear missing anything. When their hidden post shows up in a thread (you will only see "You have chosen to ignore all posts from: yada yada), there are two links in their post, the top one to "view this post", the one below it to "Un-ignore yada yada". Click on the one that you feel appropriate.
  2. So Harry, did you wear the Hawaiian shirt to impress da boss man?
  3. The model and the 1:1 both look spectacular. Great work
  4. Looking forward to seeing more of this They are rare...seems like yesterday when they were easy to get. Of course having Kevin & Joe both visiting Atlanta on a regular basis (before Joe went AWOL w/issues that had him exiting the business) made it easy. Beware of a fit problem w/the kit during final assembly; there's something in the tolerance stack that keeps the chassis from seating into the body w/o some trimming. I can't remember if they said it was the dash, chassis, roll cage, front glass or some combination thereof. A couple of my friends tag-teamed a build of this model and I was around the day they were finishing it up.
  5. Unless/until they're banned, most of the "usual suspects" end up on my "ignored users" list. I can open some of these threads and see nothing, because every one of the goofballs is on my "ignore" list
  6. This is one of those old Monogram kits I wish they'd restore all the way back to stock (originally it offered stock along w/all the other variants). Or an enterprising aftermarket firm could offer up the stock parts that are missing from the newer issues. They were pretty neat kits for the '60's, molded in very nice colored plastic.
  7. Years ago Stevens sold packages of tires, including the old Monogram whitewall insert tires. I bought several sets. I knew I'd need them sometime
  8. As you can probably tell, with my utter lack of experience in Photoshop, there never will be any competition I've only dabbled a bit w/the free software that came w/my scanner. When I'm drawing in it I feel rather clumsy like a typist using only my index fingers
  9. Real? Or Model?
  10. I'll do that too if it will help!
  11. I was sitting around recently and was thinking to myself "wow, Lindberg really needs to sell some acrylic paint and airbrushes". Not. Why Lindberg? Why another brand of acrylic paint? What makes this better than the myriad other choices already on the market? I don't get it. Unless this is some kind of miracle paint with miracle properties, it seems like one of those "General Motors/Chrysler/Cerberus" kinds of "marketing strategies" where the people making the decisions are grasping at straws. I'd like to see the people who came up with this new line of paint/airbrushes stand in front of the panel on "Shark Tank" and answer a few basic questions! Prove me wrong and make me a believer. Or not
  12. I'm a big critic of retro...I've blathered on how it's a lazy way to design new vehicles. Nowadays most retro cars look pretty boring after a few years...they blend into the scenery just like everything else. The first time I heard anything about the LoneStar, it was a thread where everyone was piling on going apespit about how ugly they thought it was. The commotion was akin to serving rancid prune juice at the old folk's home after raising their monthly fees and cutting their social security in half. I looked at it and thought it was spectacular. Even though it's retro, it's refreshing take from usual truck styling...it's not ultra-conservative, and it's not a mutant anteater pretending to be a truck-the styling just seems to work...for me at least. I think it will make a great basis for a "Concours d'Elegance" hauler. If you've ever been to a big show and have seen the parking lot of the rigs that haul the priceless cars...you might understand where I'm going with that one. Some of my favorite automotive designs are ones that people either love or hate, with little middle ground Provocative, without going "Aztek". I'm not a truck guy, but I will build a LoneStar if it makes it to market
  13. Targa for sure. The Spyder looks nasty...and not in a good way Plus the Targa will be much easier to complete successfully.
  14. Actually it shouldn't take that long since we are seeing test shots. Last year @ iHobby they didn't have test shots of the '09 Challenger, which had been due in late August '08, prior to the show. The kit was in production by May (complete kits were boxed and in the hands of the magazines in mid-May), available to the public either late June/early July. The Viper needs so little retooling (spoilers, wheels, hood...stuff that can go onto a new tree) that it should be out in the first half of 2010. I'm surprised to see the '62 Impala already, this is a model nobody outside their inner circle had heard about until last week, and there it is. This is very unlike Revell where it used to take forever between the announcement and seeing a test shot. Test shots go a looooong way towards making them reality, rather than vaporware. The Hemi Dart is probably going to have the longest delay, since there wasn't a test shot at the show.
  15. ZR1 & Viper look like the wheel/tire combos might be a bit small, or the sloppy ride height/track on the test shots make them look small. 66 Impala side glass profile looks a bit too sharp where it blends from the horizontal to the angle of the C pillar. Not sure about the rear windshield surround. I hear you on the Grand Am! I think the Vega is like the Lindberg Gremlin...a toylike 1/20 scale street machine. Not a serious model for serious modelers.
  16. Vintage 1/24 Lindberg kit; 2 piece clamshell body. If you look through Gregg's albums (all 3) you'll see more.
  17. Thanks for sharing those, Steve
  18. I won't be able to take F1 very seriously again until Bernie is gone, and then they have to also have proven that the new crew & regulations are good for the sport and fans, not just for lining their wallets.
  19. Photographic evidence or it didn't happen
  20. Supposedly Moebius announced a (hopefully) 1/25 Lonestar at iHobby today. I'm sure there will be more information as more people come back w/show coverage. This is cool!
  21. Thank you for mentioning that! Yes, it's highly annoying...that photo of the person yelling...that's what all caps looks like from this end! It's usually internet noobs that resort to that.
  22. The ACME NNL Southern Nationals is fast approaching! Hope you can join us for a weekend of model car fun! We start with a field trip at lunch on Friday (the 13th ) at the Smyrna Community Center, we have a hospitality room at the hotel on Friday/Saturday nights. The show is on Saturday. Lots of fun, lots of friends, lots of killer models on display, and some amazing new models will be debuted by some of the country's best modelers. Gregg will be here on the mainland to have fun and cover the show for MCM Vendor tables have been sold out for over a month...a great collection of vendors with new kits, aftermarket goodies, and closet-clean outs of vintage stuff...bring lots of spending $$ ACME NNL Flyer
  23. The upcoming ACME NNL Southern Nationals (November 14) will have a special display in memory of Lee Baker. If you bought any of Lee's built models or have built an antique/classic in a replica stock style that was similar to Lee's, please bring them to the NNL to display. The members of CARS (Chattanooga Auto Replicas in Scale) are sponsoring the "Lee Baker Memorial Award" and will be choosing the model that they feel best represents what Lee would have enjoyed seeing or building. A special thanks in advance for those who can participate in this display to remember Lee, who passed away in March of this year. ACME NNL Flyer
  24. Thanks...and ditto The AMT Phantom Vickie has a modern "cool factor" missing from Revell's more traditional '32's. I like 'em all, but I love the modern take that AMT's kit has, and would love to see AMT take the kit further, since Revell seems to be taking a more traditional approach to their '32's.
  25. Perhaps your input was well-meaning, but added with bold text and a photo of your model it comes across as "mine is better than yours"...
