  1. Tamiya makes 6, 10, and 18MM tapes. You must be thinking of something else. This?
  2. This will show you what an ignored user's posts look like: As you can see, you can click on either of two visible links inside their hidden post; you don't see the post, you don't see their (sometimes extremely annoying) signatures. It's a feature that is quite useful and every forum should have the option to ignore selected users.
  3. 2 part putty is a lot like bottles of superglue. They always dry out before you will use them. Body shops go through the putty quickly. It takes us years to go through a container. You might have success at putting it into smaller, sealed containers. Or not? I've thrown away countless bottles of superglue and probably a half dozen less-than-half-used containers of putty that dried up. The upside? You can now get a smallish tube of 2-part Bondo glazing putty at Pep Boys (looks like the same type/size as the tube of air dry stuff, but has catalyst, it's in a similar hang-tag type of package), about 7 or 8 bucks, much more likely to be able to use it up before it goes bad than a larger container.
  4. Great find, quite rare even when new. I never found one until early '72 on a Woolworth's half-price table of last year's kits...I got many from that table That one was molded in red. In the past 20 years I bought a pair of restorables, both were in white.
  5. Japan's regulations have pretty much killed any chance of ordering spray cans and shipping them into or out of that country. HLJ doesn't carry spray paints anymore, except for their few Japanese customers. That was clearly mentioned in the recent video of their new facility. One can lie about what's in a package and hope it gets to it's intended destination. Tamiya sprays were pulled from the UK for labeling issues. They will eventually be available again. Tamiya X22 acrylic clear will work, but as mentioned it's very slow to dry. A food dehydrator is an excellent way to speed up the drying. The following product has been tested by someone on the forums (ddms) and he claims it's just like Tamiya TS-13, much cheaper in a much larger can. U-Pol paint is manufactured in England. UPOL Jamming Clear The clear is in the Power Can range. I suggest the friend in the UK either contact U-Pol in the UK to find where he can get the Power Can clear for his models. U-Pol Website (UK) Or try this source: UK Website selling Power Can Clear
  6. Exactly! No need to fear missing anything. When their hidden post shows up in a thread (you will only see "You have chosen to ignore all posts from: yada yada), there are two links in their post, the top one to "view this post", the one below it to "Un-ignore yada yada". Click on the one that you feel appropriate.
  7. So Harry, did you wear the Hawaiian shirt to impress da boss man?
  8. The model and the 1:1 both look spectacular. Great work
  9. Looking forward to seeing more of this They are rare...seems like yesterday when they were easy to get. Of course having Kevin & Joe both visiting Atlanta on a regular basis (before Joe went AWOL w/issues that had him exiting the business) made it easy. Beware of a fit problem w/the kit during final assembly; there's something in the tolerance stack that keeps the chassis from seating into the body w/o some trimming. I can't remember if they said it was the dash, chassis, roll cage, front glass or some combination thereof. A couple of my friends tag-teamed a build of this model and I was around the day they were finishing it up.
  10. Unless/until they're banned, most of the "usual suspects" end up on my "ignored users" list. I can open some of these threads and see nothing, because every one of the goofballs is on my "ignore" list
  11. This is one of those old Monogram kits I wish they'd restore all the way back to stock (originally it offered stock along w/all the other variants). Or an enterprising aftermarket firm could offer up the stock parts that are missing from the newer issues. They were pretty neat kits for the '60's, molded in very nice colored plastic.
  12. Years ago Stevens sold packages of tires, including the old Monogram whitewall insert tires. I bought several sets. I knew I'd need them sometime
  13. As you can probably tell, with my utter lack of experience in Photoshop, there never will be any competition I've only dabbled a bit w/the free software that came w/my scanner. When I'm drawing in it I feel rather clumsy like a typist using only my index fingers
  14. Real? Or Model?
  15. I'll do that too if it will help!
  16. I was sitting around recently and was thinking to myself "wow, Lindberg really needs to sell some acrylic paint and airbrushes". Not. Why Lindberg? Why another brand of acrylic paint? What makes this better than the myriad other choices already on the market? I don't get it. Unless this is some kind of miracle paint with miracle properties, it seems like one of those "General Motors/Chrysler/Cerberus" kinds of "marketing strategies" where the people making the decisions are grasping at straws. I'd like to see the people who came up with this new line of paint/airbrushes stand in front of the panel on "Shark Tank" and answer a few basic questions! Prove me wrong and make me a believer. Or not
  17. I'm a big critic of retro...I've blathered on how it's a lazy way to design new vehicles. Nowadays most retro cars look pretty boring after a few years...they blend into the scenery just like everything else. The first time I heard anything about the LoneStar, it was a thread where everyone was piling on going apespit about how ugly they thought it was. The commotion was akin to serving rancid prune juice at the old folk's home after raising their monthly fees and cutting their social security in half. I looked at it and thought it was spectacular. Even though it's retro, it's refreshing take from usual truck styling...it's not ultra-conservative, and it's not a mutant anteater pretending to be a truck-the styling just seems to work...for me at least. I think it will make a great basis for a "Concours d'Elegance" hauler. If you've ever been to a big show and have seen the parking lot of the rigs that haul the priceless cars...you might understand where I'm going with that one. Some of my favorite automotive designs are ones that people either love or hate, with little middle ground Provocative, without going "Aztek". I'm not a truck guy, but I will build a LoneStar if it makes it to market
  18. Targa for sure. The Spyder looks nasty...and not in a good way Plus the Targa will be much easier to complete successfully.
  19. Actually it shouldn't take that long since we are seeing test shots. Last year @ iHobby they didn't have test shots of the '09 Challenger, which had been due in late August '08, prior to the show. The kit was in production by May (complete kits were boxed and in the hands of the magazines in mid-May), available to the public either late June/early July. The Viper needs so little retooling (spoilers, wheels, hood...stuff that can go onto a new tree) that it should be out in the first half of 2010. I'm surprised to see the '62 Impala already, this is a model nobody outside their inner circle had heard about until last week, and there it is. This is very unlike Revell where it used to take forever between the announcement and seeing a test shot. Test shots go a looooong way towards making them reality, rather than vaporware. The Hemi Dart is probably going to have the longest delay, since there wasn't a test shot at the show.
  20. ZR1 & Viper look like the wheel/tire combos might be a bit small, or the sloppy ride height/track on the test shots make them look small. 66 Impala side glass profile looks a bit too sharp where it blends from the horizontal to the angle of the C pillar. Not sure about the rear windshield surround. I hear you on the Grand Am! I think the Vega is like the Lindberg Gremlin...a toylike 1/20 scale street machine. Not a serious model for serious modelers.
  21. Vintage 1/24 Lindberg kit; 2 piece clamshell body. If you look through Gregg's albums (all 3) you'll see more.
  22. Thanks for sharing those, Steve
  23. I won't be able to take F1 very seriously again until Bernie is gone, and then they have to also have proven that the new crew & regulations are good for the sport and fans, not just for lining their wallets.
  24. Photographic evidence or it didn't happen
  25. Supposedly Moebius announced a (hopefully) 1/25 Lonestar at iHobby today. I'm sure there will be more information as more people come back w/show coverage. This is cool!
