Your model is spectacular and it inspired me when you built it and definitely gave me the gumption to go ahead with mine in a similar fashion, at least from the basis of body assembly to kill the seam. My graphics will be very much like a stock 'cuda; most likely billboard sides, and the "hood" and "taillight" areas will be satin black. Hoping I can scrounge something good from my parts box to improve upon the front wheels. I'll figure it out, keeping it relatively simple.
  2. Thanks for all the input so far, painting is going well today. It was wet sanded w/2400 grit Micromesh, coated w/Tamiya Fine gray primer, and then decanted Testors Grabber Orange. You can see some of the design subtleties better now that there's some gloss to it; you can now see how I tied together the crease from the center of the car into the front/rear fenders. Each step gets me more psyched to get it done, as it's finally at the point that it's turning out pretty well as planned. Wish me luck and no more big roadblocks, this thing could be done by this time next week With this & the Digger 'cuda in color, I have something for our ACME show 'n tell @ the meeting today, unlike the last two months where I wasn't productive at all
  3. Painting has begun; Testors One Coat (that's a laugh...someone at Testors has quite a sense of humor, or no clue whatsoever about their product ) Icy Blue over Tamiya French Blue, with a layer of Tamiya clear & transparent blue to tone down the flakiness of the Icy Blue.
  4. I was thinking the latter myself..."boob-huh" or "boob-aah". That's my 2 cents. Could be misspelled Yiddish "bubala". That's another 2 cents. If it was meant to be "Bubba" - Priceless.

  8. As little as possible; AMT Camaro interior painted black. This is a styling exercise; one reason I went w/the AMT kit was it has side glass...allowing me to put the lion's share of work on the exterior, and downplay the interior. I'll use a better steering wheel/column, but w/the narrow openings & side glass most interior detail won't show well anyway. Many styling bucks don't even have full interiors. This model is also being built as a curbside...no engine. Just a provocative "what if"...though in real life I'd like to have it with something like a ZR1/CTS-V powerplant & an Audi S5-like interior.

  10. Thanks! The aero panel on the rear fascia will be blacked out like the GT500 & GT500KR, along w/part of the rocker area, and the chin spoiler that's not shown in these photos. It should be balanced & not out of place once the three lower areas are tied together visually by the black details. Getting rid of it by smoothing it out would make for too much unbroken vertical height.

  12. Thanks; in a perfect world I would have made the back end 1/8" shorter. One of my best friends looked at it, and said "after looking at it, there's one thing I would change...", I then interjected "the back end is 1/8" too long but I'm not going to change it" and he said that's exactly what he was going to suggest. It would have given the car a bit more "fastback" look. And if I had a 2010 Mustang to work with, the tapered corners would have done the trick. Anyway, thanks for the comments, I do like where this is going, as it does take care of the things that I disliked about the Camaro and Challenger...whereas the Mustang element is sort of along for the ride, but it works. I will be painting it Grabber Orange and it will have Mustang wheels, so it'll be a bit more cohesive when it's done. I hope

It's an NNL, everything is popular vote, and I never expect anything...the trophies to me are the models themselves I just get jazzed up to build something for a theme, w/o even thinking about competition. There aren't many judged contests I go to. This beast is a styling exercise, so it's not going to be pretty underneath (if you've ever seen a 1:1 concept car...same story, you don't want to see "the man behind the curtain" so to speak). Curbside, no motor, chassis there to locate the body and hang the four wheels. I am pretty psyched because I love the styling, it just seems to work, and I can have something unique that nobody else has.
  16. Building this one as a "what if Chrysler did this as a show car?" It's almost ready for paint. I glued the top/bottom halves of the body together to eliminate the seam. It's a cool looking body, hopefully will have it ready for our show.
  17. This idea hatched from ideas of what to do w/a new Camaro, w/o making it a Camaro. I was thinking of using it as a basis for a modern 'cuda, since I like the overall proportions of the Camaro better than the Challenger. We have a "Retro in the Metro" theme for our NNL in 2 weeks. We have a Challenger, Camaro, and Mustang illustrated on our flyer. One of my cohorts was planning to build one of each for the show. I realized I might be able to do all three in one model. Hmmmm.. I like the main body of the Camaro better than the Challenger. I like the Challenger front end better than the Camaro. Once the idea was in my head to add Mustang to the equation, it all came together, because I found out pretty quickly that the three could combine into one. Hopefully it'll be ready in 2 weeks for our show. It's almost ready for color. A modeling friend suggested the name "Menage", I might respell it "Menaj", or call it "Flashback", since I see other cars in it as well. The Camaro front end is longer than the Challenger, I cast the stock hood and lengthened it using two resin hoods grafted together. The front is longer, but the model will use Camaro chassis/interior, wheelbase is shorter than Challenger.

  20. That was a good article. Agreed on styling issues between the two. If Moebius plays their cards right, they could offer both years...start w/the '55, update to a '56...aside from the rear fenders/taillights/bumper, the cars are nearly identical.

It's time for some educating, as there is a lot of mis-information going on about the name of the real car (the letter series changed in name after the first year) and the year of the model that Moebius is planning. Chrysler 300 Wiki Page The model they are planning is a 1955 Chrysler C-300. The first Chrysler 300 was a C-300. In 1956 the car was called a 300B. This is not a model announced by Moebius, contrary to early reports from the show from a person who got them mixed up. In 1957 it was called the 300C. In 1958 it was called the 300D. And so on. Cliff's notes: Kit is a 1955 C-300. Might they do a 300B at a later date? Perhaps, if the C-300 is popular enough to consider expanding the series; they could certainly share most tooling.
