Mystery (to me) Shelby Cobra Engine
Crazy Ed replied to Crazy Ed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Greg, mine's the AMT Matchbox kit # 2003. What was funny though is it came with the instructions for both the 2003 kit and the kit you posted! The Kit is cast in a Lemon Yellow and the extra engine is sort of a Butterscotch. -
Mystery (to me) Shelby Cobra Engine
Crazy Ed replied to Crazy Ed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Folks I knew someone(s) here would know where it came from. I've had the Kit for a while, got it used and wanted to make sure all the parts were here. So I was more than a bit suprised to find not only an extra engine but one with an Auto Tranny. I'm sure Rick nailed it about the engine upgrade. Luckily I have an R&D Unique Intake with Webers for a S/B Ford laying around, so the missing intake isn't a problem. Thanks again. -
That Porsche 917 Engine/Transaxel is amazing!

ENGINE LOVE--Post Your Favorites
Crazy Ed replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My favorite is the Porsche 917/30. This image is from the Peter Morgan book "Porsche 917 - The Winning Formula" -
That's just plain PRETTY! And it's my Favorite of the Tri Fives. The whole build is very well done and you even added the Hot Rodders Blue "Dot" in the tail lights which other than the power pack twin exhaust would have been a warning to stop light racers to think twice ;-). Courious - Where'd the Cross Webers come from? Crazy Ed

In addition to the kits in my sig. I'd have to add: Formula Canadas Shadow DN2 + 4 kits AMT or Johan Mark Donohue '70 + '71 Javelin's Crazy Ed -
While watching the ALMS race today at the 1/2 way point there was a commercial for a New Racing Series coming in 2012, the "Unlimited Racing Championship". Well I hit the pause button and stared at the Car they were showing, almost a clone of the CanAm series McLaren M20 right down to the 8 staggered velocity stacks. OK you got my attention (note to self write down series name for later check up) Finished off the Motorcycle races and watched the NHRA rainout then watched Wind Tunnel where Dave also mentioned the new series!- Off to Googleville! Well the only thing that seems to be Unlimited are the promoters dreams. It's a "Spec" series (Unlimited??????), same cars, same engines. You buy their Car, paint it your color(s) - well I'm guessing the buyers will be able to do that, right? Needless to say I'm more that a bit dissapointed. Ok I knew better than expect to see 21st century UOP Shadows running in anger on a track with 21st century Porsche 917/30+'s, Chaparral 2J+'s, Lola's and McLarens, But to call a Cookie Cutter series Unlimited, Right. They should have hooked up with the IRL instead of the ALMS. I wish them the best. The Roar of lots of big block V8's is something one never forgets, but you can get that at any number of Vintage Races these days. Crazy Ed

That is true for the Pocket Cameras but DSLR's still allow for selecting mechanical f-stops and thus veriable Depth of Field. Crazy Ed -

Hi Phil, nice Chevy btw You might want to try adjusting the ISO setting. Hopefully the F-Stop will drop instead of shutter speed. What you're shooting for is the largest F-Stop number you can get. The other option is move the Camera back and crop the image. One or the other should get you the depth of field you're looking for. Crazy Ed -

Hi Gus this ought to help. It's a restored '66 Imp. Black Carpet and everything else is White. Center image second row shows the inside of the B Pillar and it's clearly White. http://classiccars.com/listing-215735/1966-chevrolet-impala-ss-for-sale-in-montreal-quebec-h1r2y7.html Crazy Ed
