What Revell should put out as Kits...
Crazy Ed replied to TheCat's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I sure hope so. And don't take this wrong as I'm one of those that miss Overhaulin' and like what he does to Production Cars, but on the show he'd do his rendering of what the final product would look like and in just about every case (this Firebird included) had a raked front windshield and top that had been chopped 2 or 3" that didn't happen to the real vehicle. Tom I hope you're right, but the drawing and final product differed and I expect to see a stock roof line on the Kit also. -
Studebaker Community Build...with a Meet & Greet in South Bend, IN?
Crazy Ed replied to Casey's topic in Community Builds
You had mentioned using the C-Pillars for a Rollbar in your concept description. I wasn't sure how that'd work out. Turns out Very Well! -
Thinning acrylic craft paints for airbrushing?

FWIW Dave, Ammonia can effect some Optical Coatings in a bad way. Rather than Widex I use Distilled Water and Alcohol -

That's coming along nicely Casey. FWIW rather than raising what's been turned into the drivers headrest might I suggest a simple hoop rollbar. It'd add the height with a period look. -
Well lookie here, mines got the wrong Tire Tree!

Where did you build when you were a kid
Crazy Ed replied to eizzle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My work area was on spread out newspapers on the bedroom floor, with Spray Painting done in the backyard. -
Like CadillacPat said it was the beginning of the End. Altamont stuck the knife in the Heart. Funny how few folks knew/remember CCR were the "Headliners", John Sebastian wasn't suppose to Play there and the Incredable String Band did a GREAT set - If you liked their Music to start with!

My first year in High School one of the Guys'd get the Family Rambler Wagon with it's (Fancy at the time) 45 Record Player and we'd head to Van Nuys Blvd. If at a Traffic Light we needed Engine Sounds in went 409 by the Beach Boys and we'd crank it up to it's full 4 watt with 60% distortion output - RUMMMMMB RUMMMMB :D Boy after 50 years you'd have thought the Factorys could have come up with an original idea!

David, the Dual Paxton R5 Engine used Bendix Fuel Injection. Curt, Another in a long Line of Excellent Builds of interesting subjects.

Fun Link Monty. FWIW, the Studebaker used Paxton Supercharger(s) not Turbo's and the engines were id'd with the letter R not J -

Casey, that "little" Turbine weighed less than 200 lbs and put out ~350 HP and over 600 ft lbs of Torque so there's plenty of go power in that little whiner And you are very welcome. -
This and the Valient would have been fun kits to have swapped engines with Well done in both cases.
-
Weather permitting I'm Grillin'. The House favorite is Smoked BBQ Chicken. The Chicken gets an hour or so of hot intense Hickory Smoke followed by a pile HOT of Briquets in the otherside of the Smoker/Gril for indirect heatl. Close the Lid and walk away for at least an hour or so. The combo of hot smoke and high heat seals in all the Juices which results in insanely moist Meat and dry crunchy skin. No seasoning is needed so if you know someone on a low or sodium free diet here ya go. If your Smoker Grill is big enough this works from Game Hens to Turkeys! And before returning to Modeling be Sure to Wash hands VERY Well because Paint will not stick to anything touched by fingers that has held this Chicken

Interesting. The seperate chrome tree brings back the wheels replaced by the mags, and the Decal sheet is a return to the earliest releases with some changes.
-
Hi Casey In answer to your question, No - The Jackson Kit was the least optioned with mostly only Stock parts included. But this turned into more Fun than I thought it might. Turns out there were (as far as the Kits I have on hand) 4 different Chrome Trees My earliest Kit is Kit # 2364-200 and the Five Slots weren't offered but five spoked Wheels were. Next up was the Modern Classic release there the Spoked Wheels were replaced by the Slotted Wheels. Oh and look in the lower left to the right of the Steering Wheel - The Knock Offs have been deleated! On too the Reggie Jackson tree looks like a Fire Extinguisher has become your optional equipment The last two releases I have are the Prestige and Millennium Kits which in my "collection" are the first to share a tree and the missing Knock Offs have been returned.

Your favourite Box art
Crazy Ed replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll add my vote to the "Oil Painting" Heller Kits. Ok the engine in the kit isn't all it could be but I've been tempted to buy the kits just for the Box Art! I think the Martini 917K, Ferrari 330P4 and Ferrari 512s also came with this style box's in the early 70's releases. -
Hi John I understood what you said which is why I suggested the Kits I did. Both used Turbine Engines that were used in Helicopters.
-
I've seen the kit on ebay and wondered how it would turn out. Nicely Done. Would you have a shot looking stright into the rear to see how (what) the detail there is?
-
John both the MPC Lotus Indy Turbine or "Can Am" have Turbines in'em. Both can be had now and then for <$20.
