Let's see your geegaws!
Crazy Ed replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There's 2 A-Frame Barriers in the IMC Lola T70 that aren't mentioned on the Box or instructions. But they are shown on instructions of the Union repop of the kit. -

The Copyright on the Box is '89 so that's correct. -
I try to keep my public comments on the positive side. Again, Good Job.

The Prestige Series from AMT also had their Car Show Options. Here's what the Avanti came with -

Yep But let's not forget the optional tricycle phone booth -
Very Nice job there Dave. You added not only the external oil cooler but also moved the wing adjuster to the correct position, added the wing limiter blocks, center bar on the wing and the Prestolite and Cox sponser stickers. Except for the oil cooler all details missed by many. Sure wish someone'd repop those Wheels! Again Very Nice.

Great job on the turning those Rims! The letters on the wheels are ment to be painted or filled in by what ever means you may have.

Never got to meet either of them, but Oscar always seemed to be REALLY enjoying what he was doing and having fun doing it. Tony on the other hand got screwed in '66 TransAm because they didn't have an Overall Winner Title that year and He with his Alpha GTA did take the overall points that year!!!

Motor Racing Models magazine on disc
Crazy Ed replied to DanR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Kurt, My thanks to you for making these available again. It sure beats trying to buy an Issue one at a time as I was doing for what you're charging for the Entire Set! Plus there's no condition issues as they're all Prestine! -
You can also sand'em down to fit your application. Just be careful of the light part and you'll be suprised how small you can make them.
-
OH BOY! Given your past builds this is gonna be a Must Be Watched Build !!! It will have the PRDA Sticker won't it?
-
WOW, Monterey Bay 1969. I think those folks gave me a ride when I was hitchhiking on Hwy 1 from Santa Cruz!
-
As a rule Dragsters don't interest me all that much. But who can resist a slant 6 with webers and flat white pipes. Great Build.

Ford DOHC engine: what kits?
Crazy Ed replied to Kit Basher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Ford DOHC engines also found their way into the CanAm series in both '66 with Parnelli Jones driving a Lola T-70 and '68 with Mario Andretti also in a Lola T-70. Both the Ford GT and GT MkII from IMC and the MkII's repop by Union have the DOHC engins in'em. -
Thanks for the info Vince. After a bit of Googlin' I see the Car is doing the Show Circuit. Given i only subscribe to MCM I guess I won't be seeing the article. Too bad as it sure looks like he did a wonderful job on it. Again, Thanks.

Vince, Wonderful series of Pic's Thanks for shareing them. Wondering if you might have more shots of the looks to be a Formula Canada kit of the Follmer driven Porsche 917/10 (your image # 39)?
-
Thanks Dave. My Avatar is what it is because of my interest in Jim Hall's Cars since they were New. The only White Chaparral 2* I don't have a kit for is the 2G. Again Very Nice Job there.
-
Nice job on the 2C Dave. Yep the ARII kit is ..................... lacking in many areas. Do you happen to have closer shots of your cockpit/insturment panel area ?
-
Well done Liam. It fought you all the way, but you won!

A few years ago I spent some time looking for any reference to a Howmet Spyder and could only find information relating to Coupes. And have never seen any reference to any turbine running in the Can-am. But if you have information showing it existed and ran in the Can Am I'd love to see it!! Although built to compete in it I don't think the Toyotas ran in the Can-Am.

Ok let's get this out of the way right off, "My Name is Crazy Ed and I'm a Can-Am Junkie". There I feel better already . I know I'm not the only one here so let's make a list of the kits and who made'em that we know are out there so we'll at lease know there's a remote chance of getting a kit for the .............. Car. Let's not wander off to the Dark side and add 1/43 (in which scale you could almost build entire fields of starters!!) or other scaleslike the 1/28 Otakai AVS Shadow or the MPC McLaren M8D etc, OK? The only requirements are that the Kits are 1/24-5 and are of Cars that Raced in the Can-Am even if it was only for 1 race. Well I'll kick it off with: Lola T70 - IMC, Union, AMT Lola T260 - UMi Honker - AMT Hussein - AMT - USRRC Not CanAm McLaren/Elva MK 2B - Mini Exotics McLaren M6A - Fisher McLaren M6B - Fisher McLaren M8B (3 different kits) - Accurate Miniatures McLaren M8A - Mitsuwa, Academy (not sure which came first - same kit) March 707 - Mitsuwa, Academy (again, same kit) Chaparral 2E - IMC, Union, Fisher Chaparral 2G - Academy, Formula Canada Chaparral 2H - Mini Exotics Chaparral 2J - Mini Exotics Ferrari 512S - Heller, Testors, Union Ferrari 512M - Fisher Ferrari 350 - L.M.P./ Little Garage Ferrari 612 - Volkl Resin Cars Ferrari 712 - UMi, Volklk Resin Cars Porsche 917/10 - UMi, Formula Canada Porsche 917/30 - UMi, Fisher, MFH Porsche 917K - Fujimi, Heller, Union Shadow DN2 - Formula Canada, Jens (thanks Tim, aka Bigphoto) Shadow DN4 - Formula Canada AVS MK 1 Shadow - Silver City Models Well that ought to at least prime the Pump!

Chris, WOW...................

Yes Rudy you are correct. The entire Hood is different with squared "fender" tops and 4 not 2 Headlamps being the most easily noticed changes that would need to be made for an accurate reproduction. But sometimes emotion fogs reality . I can assure you I will NOT dispute your last statement!! As you can tell from my sig. the Sunoco Car is on my Want list. I'm a LONG time fan of Mark Donohue. Heck, I've got kits of all the cars he finished races with in the original CanAm series and only need a '70 Javelin to cover all his TransAm Cars. Thank you for tossing in the correction as I'd hate to mislead Bruce with his build.
