  1. Yeah, and the herd-following sheep always went along with whatever was perceived as "the thing" of the day, without conscious thought, believing they were cool if they did exactly what everyone else did. They still do.
  2. Heard from the rebleating herd was primarily "rebleat, rebleat, rebleat", but originality isn't big with that particular demographic. ?
  3. So did I at the time. And "okay Boomer" is so clever, it just never gets old. Did you make that up yourself? ?
  4. A hot-rod by any other name...
  5. You can take that rib off easy enough...
  6. What's the most obvious thing that's faded away? Actual men to drive 'em.
  7. I don't have to be withdrawing from nicotine to feel that way... Seriously, stick with it. You'll feel a lot better in the long run. At least that's what I tell myself every time I smell somebody else smoking and go into jonesing overload.
  8. Looking good. This is absolutely one of my favorite models on the board. The real car is, to me, the epitome of cool, and you've come closer to getting it right than anyone else I've seen so far. Nice work on a challenging subject to model.
  9. "Release the dogs of war" squeaked the fuzz-faced jellybelly wargamer, as he practically wet himself in anticipation of the kind of confrontation his complete lack of physical ability ensured he'd never face in reality.
  10. Me too. Every couple of weeks, I'll sand the body and try to shoot more Duplicolor lacquer over the cracks...but every time, more open up. I'm trying to avoid stripping it, as there is bodywork that'll have to be redone if I do. Like I said above, I assumed shooting Duplicolor lacquer over hardware store lacquer that had been dry for years would be safe. Wrong. ?
  11. Days full of blithering fools are standard on social and mainstream media.
  12. Moving the goalposts, anyone?
  13. Yup. Spread center primaries, unlike the smallblocks, which had 'em close together.
  14. Yup, some of them are very useful. Not in the league with factory service manuals, which I buy for everything I own, but still a great help.
  15. Geez Louise. You can get fluffy-ended makeup brushes (assuming you're secure enough in your masculinity...if that's even a thing anymore...to walk into a beauty-supply store) for not a lot of bucks. They're perfect for cleaning models. I got a whole set of 'em in different sizes for less than $10. In a nice steel box. And the ones you don't use for cleaning are great for applying weathering chalks.
  16. I'm not too clear on this concept of "finished" models. Hmmmmmmmm...
  17. I pity the generations of young men that grew up without ever knowing the joys of cruising with the top down on a crisp fall moonlit night, your girl snuggled up beside you on the bench seat, with the heater blowing on your feet. Ah, but darn. How on earth could you keep up with your important social-media stuff if you were actually enjoying the intensity of the moment? Stupid me. ?
  18. Yessir, one of the best cars ever made, period. Fast, comfortable, great handling for such a big car, and tough. I bought one from the county police after it had a light front end hit some years back, and they auctioned it instead of fixing it. Bought some of their take-out engines too ("broken", but not really). Figgered I could keep the beast running forever. When I left the shop where it was stored, the car and all the engines mysteriously disappeared before I'd been able to move them.
  19. Yeah, we have several fleet accounts, and semi-basic vehicles with a reasonable level of ease-of-use features like you mention only seem to be available to fleet purchasers...or maybe you can get a stripper if you wait months, but I really don't think dealers have any interest in selling individual vehicles that aren't optioned-out.
  20. Well, see...nobody native-born actually works in the US anymore. All the new pickups are bought by soft-hands can't-change-a-lightbulb yups trying to look macho. The real work trucks are aging out of the fleet, and are all on their tenth owners by now (still running, because they were built like...wait for it...trucks). AN ASIDE: ALL the electronic gizmology in my '89 GMC is now toast. EFI died, radio died, HVAC controls died...but all the hard mechanical stuff still works fine, so I've retrofitted all the dead electronics with...GASP...old-school switches and a carburettor. And try actually working out of one of the ridiculous mile-high modern pickups. It's one royal PITA unless you're 8 feet tall. OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!! I'm gunna hafta put you on ignore sos I don get no seconhan smoke death over the internet. OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!
