Looks to me like crazing, when the lacquer topcoat solvents are just too "hot" for the primer and plastic underneath. This is a prime example of why we harp on and on and on about TEST FIRST before committing to painting a model with a combination of products that aren't designed to work together, by the same manufacturer.

OK. I should have said "entitled to what somebody else's effort produced".

I would suggest that management crunch a few easy numbers, work out how many $$ per member the ad revenue generates, and then establish a VOLUNTARY payment scheme so those of us who despise intrusive advertising and run adblockers can pay to play, without feeling guilty...at least those of us who have a functioning conscience. Perhaps interestingly, the Photobucket debacle didn't affect me much at all, as after I started running an adblocker there, I also began paying for the service. It was only the freeloaders who lost their photos, or had them "ransomed". What's kindof a shame is the number of people who seem to believe they're somehow entitled to free anything.

Do you also have 1:1 project cars?
Ace-Garageguy replied to ctruss53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Worked on 510s when they were new, loved them, great little cars...and your OHC V6 (VG30E?) swap takes it to the next level. Great project. -
Scammer alert: texts used to drain bank accounts
Ace-Garageguy replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Bottom line is pretty simple, and it applies equally to ALL the phone, email, and text scams. NEVER GIVE ANYONE ACCOUNT NUMBERS, PINS, SS NUMBERS, PHONE NUMBERS, EMAIL ADDRESSES, PHYSICAL ADDRESSES, OR ANYTHING ELSE A CON CAN USE TO IMPERSONATE YOU TO HIJACK YOUR MONEY. And never respond to phone calls or texts purporting to be from a bank, govt. agency, or retailer, or click on links in emails, no matter how legit they may look to you. NEVER !!! -
Scammer alert: texts used to drain bank accounts
Ace-Garageguy replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
A whole lotta people are, or they wouldn't keep scamming...something like 8 BILLION dollars annually in the US is taken by these scams. -
Why don't you just send 'em $20? There are several online providers of information I support with a monthly fee because "the income is important to the site", and I value what I receive from them enough to pay for it.

Ferrari 250 GTO / Pontiac GTO-powered

Hit a wall on this one, as none of the headers I have here are even close to workable. I don't want to use solder, my alloy welding rod that works great for under-car exhaust parts is too hard to form the tight bends for headers, and so far, nothing else I've tried is really acceptable...including insulated 16 gage wire that almost does it, but won't hold bends permanently. I started making up some primary pipes from hot-bent styrene rod, and it looks good so far. Problem is, the area I have to fit the pipes into is difficult to access for full-scale hands, they have to be quite accurate to do what I want, and I don't want to bugger up the engine in the process. But I think I have a solution. I'm in the process of making a fixture that represents the engine, with the heads at the right angle, drilled to slip the styrene rods into during bending, a rod that represents the frame tube they have to clear, as well as a target where the pipes need to terminate to hit the collector correctly. PITA, but pretty much like building custom headers on a real car where I would have good access. We'll see... -
Jacket patches adorn both the real-deal guys and the poseurs, but the ones with the merkins usually fall in the latter category.

Can Rustoleum Be Thinned?
Ace-Garageguy replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You're going to get 14 answers starting with "I heard..." or "I think...", all of which will be useless. Decant some. Try lacquer thinner (which works great in old Testors bottle enamel). Try enamel reducer from a real-car-paint outlet. If those don't work, try other stuff (except water). Then you'll know for sure. -

How to cut square holes?
Ace-Garageguy replied to Len Woodruff's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Those thin areas separating the holes takes the delicate touch of a brain surgeon, especially in thin styrene stock, but it's doable. -
I didn't "need" these at all, but they were cheap, they make great parts donors, and as this is the last generation of "stock" cars I have any interest in whatsoever (and damm near every other kind of racing is represented in my collection already) I'll build one of 'em, for sure.

"Winner" is not the same thing as "whiner", though it would seem some folks get confused about the concepts.

What Did You Have for Dinner?
Ace-Garageguy replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Bowl of hot, peppery, tomatoey cheese dip, one of guacamole, warm tortillas, and a Modelo Negra. Fresh strawberries for dessert, with strong black coffee. I'm now clam-happy. -
It depends on which browser you're using. I can see it on Firefox.
