A word for anyone buying the resin one from Jimmy Flintstone, I bought one several years ago and mine was significantly smaller than 1/25 scale. The difference was about as much as there is between 1/2 and 1/25. I'm going to end up cutting the nose off and grafting it onto the Revell body because otherwise nothing from the kit will fit, even the wheelbase of the resin body is shorter than the plastic body. The resin body will also have the incorrect rear quarter panels from the early releases of the Revell Torino that have been fixed in the newest green car version that is out now.

62' or 63' Chev C60
Fat Brian replied to hedotwo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Your best bet is to start with either of the Revell 64 or 65 kits, they're plentiful and cheap if you mess it up and the hood was the same from 63 to 66. Even the AMT 60 will work but the hood is different. -
It doesn't, it's got the supercharged 350 from the wrecker kit and it is a flip nose. It is exactly the wrecker kit with a monster truck suspension. The wrecker unit is a pretty neat little old school setup that would look great transplanted on a 40's or 50's truck.

Simpsonville isn't looking too good this year, I just spent $700 at the vet that was meant for a house payment so I'm playing catch up now.

My wife is going to hate me, between the Bison tractor, Datsun, and the Tyrone Malone truck coming back out I'm going to be pretty broke for the foreseeable future.

Question about gm 12 bolt rear cover
Fat Brian replied to Nova-ss's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The AMT 70 Monte Carlo should have a 12 bolt in it, I don't know if the cover is removable but worse case scenario you could cut it off with a razor saw. -
What is this beast?
Fat Brian replied to Leonidas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A lot of big trucks with driven front axles use a Marmon-Herrington unit. The center section is kind of weird and oblong, I can't think of anything similar in scale. https://www.marmon-herrington.com/images/MT-22_enlarged.jpg -

The yellow custom version has the Ardun heads in it, I'm not sure about the earlier kits with the tannish truck on the box. -

Ideas for 1/25 CB antenna(wire)???
Fat Brian replied to crowe-t's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Guitar string is great for a lot of stuff, antennas, hard lines, linkage parts. The wound stings can be used to make modern snow chains. For the antenna dip the tip in white glue and then chrome paint for the ball. -
Do you think stuffing the tires with tissue paper to straighten the sidewalls out a bit would help?

sanded through color with polishing kit
Fat Brian replied to kurth's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Are you using an airbrush or spray can? With an airbrush you can probably get a fine enough line to just paint the middle half inch of the hood with another color coat and be fine. If you're using a spray can painting the whole hood will be easier since masking it will leave a noticeable step to deal with. Just be sure to get all of the polishing compound off, especially if it is a polish/wax combo. -
Printers plate developer
Fat Brian replied to misterNNL's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I spoke with my mom today, she said you can buy the plate developer online and do them by hand but the stuff is pretty corrosive and generally nasty. She said to find a local offset printer and see if you can slide them a few bucks to run them through their automatic plate washer. -

AMT 1/25 '64 Chevy Impala
Fat Brian replied to ANovaScotian's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The AMT kit has a one piece chassis with the front and rear suspension and the exhaust system molded into the chassis pan. A metal axle runs through the engine as well. It looks good for what it is but it definitely shows its age. With the newer kit available I consider the AMT kit a nostalgia build, you build it to relive a part of your youth and the quality of the end result is secondary to the experience. -
What happened to the Moebius '69 Ford F100?
Fat Brian replied to JTalmage's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The 69 and 70 were Model King special runs so were probably a much smaller batch than the 71 was.
