  1. The kits I buy fall into two categories, things I actually want to build and donor kits to supply parts that aren't in the first group of kits. The box art doesn't really matter though I do prefer pictures of the actual kit at least somewhere on the box. Brand doesn't really matter either, most builds on my shelf have parts from several kits from all the brands in them. This is why I like options, the more parts I have to work with or use elsewhere the better. I have many builds where they plan is to replace a promo style chassis with a full detail one from a more modern kit. My favorite part of modeling is building, sitting down with parts or a pile of Evergreen and making something. If I could outsource the painting and finishing of the body to someone else for a reasonable price I would consider it. I'm getting better at it but it's more of a chore than the construction side. As for my top seven cars they would have to be: 69 Hemi Roadrunner 68 Shelby GT500KR Mustang with a SOHC 427 70 Cutlass Supreme 455 Ferrari 430 80 Camaro full restmod with modern Corvette suspension and LS 427 90 Suburban 4x4 3500 with modded Cummins 12v 78 F-350 4x4 with Detroit 4-71 and 2 1/2 ton Rockwell axles
  2. You're correct Tom, it's the early 2000s kit with the custom parts and up top.
  3. If they're willing to make special runs of kits for Ollie's maybe we need to tell them what we want.
  4. I've seen the one done by The Parts Box, does anyone make a McCullough style flathead supercharger?
  5. Be careful with Krylon paints, some like the Fusion line can eat plastic.
  6. The paint I remember was made by Plastikote, I haven't seen it in over a decade and have never found anything quite like it.
  7. Yep, there were a few years where the the chrome wheels and fender flares from the first Bigfoot kit were included in the USA-1 kit.
  8. Someone on ebay used to sell a Rollin' Thunder sticker set for the Lunchbox but I haven't looked at it recently. Yeah, you'd have to drive carefully if you did a super fancy body.
  9. The Lunchbox is based on a real monster truck and I've always wanted to build one as the real thing. I'm afraid if I ever go down the RC rabbit hole ill never go back to models.
  10. AMT has wheels similar to those but not exactly the same.
  11. I haven't noticed a difference in the regular Chrome, those stickers started after they took some heat for the ultra bight line.
  12. The ultra bright was the stuff they problems with years ago, I've stuck to the regular chrome since.
  13. It will be available at the usual websites, Tower hobbies, ebay, Amazon most likely. If you have a local shop they can order it for you as well.
  14. The floor pan piece seems to hint at future race versions since it looks like it doesn't have carpet.
  15. Thanks, I wanted it to look like a vintage one so I went with a honey/iced tea burst look.
  16. I just finished this a couple weeks ago, I've tried to learn guitar on and off for about 25 years and my fat fingers put me off it every time. I built this from a kit with 5 strings to give me a little more string spacing, so far it seems to be helping clean my chords up. I've got a Tele style built also, I just need to finish the soldering.
  17. The new version still has those tires in it as well.
  18. You're builds have a crispness that is something I aspire to.
  19. Well done, that one will look great on the shelf. This should give you a good foundation to build on.
  20. Interesting, I've wondered why they didn't build this but hadn't really started researching it yet. Thanks for posting this, this gives me something to think about. I knew the turret rings were different sizes but hadn't got much further.
  21. There's one "what if" thing I've been mulling over but haven't tried to build yet. It's a Panzer IV with a modified Panther turret, basically a cheap tank that could mount the long 75mm that would have given Allies a fit. It was kind of a thought experiment in what would have been an actually effective weapon instead of the crazy things the Germans really did.
  22. They're metal transfer stickers I bought on ebay. Evidently there is a big market for high end Transformers figures but most haven't licensed the logos so they're sold separately.
  23. Thank you, I'm beginning to realize this project is probably going to be more Evergreen than kit pieces. I based the wrecker bed off this truck and a Weaver 3 ton boom.
  24. The gearhead in me loves armor and aircraft but I find modeling them creatively stifling. The limited number of correct ways to build the thing gets to me after a bit.
  25. The bed and boom are almost done, just need to put somr D rings on the bumper and figure out a tow hitch.
