I'm going to do this before I forget. I built the Decepticon Barricade's vehicle form from the first Transformers movie. The kit is the Revell 2007 Shelby Mustang built mostly kit stock except for some Fujimi Advan wheels, decals I had made by Firebird Designs, and the light bar from Spotlight Hobbies. Most of the work went into lowering the kit about a quarter inch. I had to grind the upper areas of the wheel wells and rebuild parts of the rear due to the wider tires. I also had to shorten the rear coils and grind the top of the axle along with a molded in part on the chassis to get the rear end down. Paint is Duplicolor white and black with about half a dozen coats of Mr. Super Clear gloss.

Bugatti Royale interior ?

Good luck, that looks like it will be pretty challenging no matter how you go about it. -
Bugatti Royale interior ?

The first two things that come to mind are either printing a sheet decal paper with that cloth pattern and cutting out the individual pieces or finding a similar pattern in lace and spraying through it like a mask to create the pattern. -
Will we ever see the Monogram S-10 again?

The mini truck craze killed a lot of them. -
Ok, I just wanted to throw it out there before things kicked off.

My car might not be enough of a race car then, it's got a gutted interior with a roll cage and open exhaust but otherwise it's pretty stock.

The reason that particular fit is being thrown is that those are the same wrong kits that have been around for 30 years, it's the accuracy of the kit for the money that has peoples hackles up. If they would put as much effort into a new semi kit as they do the sci-fi stuff they'd sell. It baffles me that no one has done a Pete 379 or Kenworth W900L, if someone would do an accurate version of those they couldn't keep them on the shelves even at that price.

Any of the bottom three would be a good start. I've been looking at the stash and might dig out something interesting.

I'll bite for this, I have several kits that would be perfect for this type of build.

And they are by far the most useful part of the kit. -
All of those are great, yeah, just as long as it looks dumpy and home built it should fit the bill.

This is an interesting idea.

That's why I bought one but there's nothing useful but the wheels and exhaust tips. -
Those are very good, I love that body style of Camaro.

At least some of them are curbside, I made that mistake on the 2012 kit. -
I've been thinking about a build that would be appropriate for the 24 hours of Lemons races and figured it might make an interesting community build. Basically the rules are the car must be obtained for under $500. There is an unlimited safety budget and all cars must have at least a six point roll cage, racing seat and harness, and a fuel cell. There is a tech inspection process to confirm the cars safety and access penalty laps for cars that have been modified beyond the spirit of the rules, this is supposed to be a cheap build. For the purposes of this build I would say just be able to come up with a reasonable explanation for the mods you've made, the story of the build is a part of the project. Subject matter is pretty open, there are classes for RWD, FWD, V8, 4 cyl, essentially any configuration. If this gets any traction we'll pin down a start and end date and maybe a judging criteria.

I was thinking about buying another Mack but for that price they can keep it.

Dear hobby friends....
Fat Brian replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The kits I buy fall into two categories, things I actually want to build and donor kits to supply parts that aren't in the first group of kits. The box art doesn't really matter though I do prefer pictures of the actual kit at least somewhere on the box. Brand doesn't really matter either, most builds on my shelf have parts from several kits from all the brands in them. This is why I like options, the more parts I have to work with or use elsewhere the better. I have many builds where they plan is to replace a promo style chassis with a full detail one from a more modern kit. My favorite part of modeling is building, sitting down with parts or a pile of Evergreen and making something. If I could outsource the painting and finishing of the body to someone else for a reasonable price I would consider it. I'm getting better at it but it's more of a chore than the construction side. As for my top seven cars they would have to be: 69 Hemi Roadrunner 68 Shelby GT500KR Mustang with a SOHC 427 70 Cutlass Supreme 455 Ferrari 430 80 Camaro full restmod with modern Corvette suspension and LS 427 90 Suburban 4x4 3500 with modded Cummins 12v 78 F-350 4x4 with Detroit 4-71 and 2 1/2 ton Rockwell axles -

You're correct Tom, it's the early 2000s kit with the custom parts and up top. -

If they're willing to make special runs of kits for Ollie's maybe we need to tell them what we want.
