  1. Check out Clearly Scale for all kinds of engine options. I've got a supercharged 1UZ Toyota engine on the way from them for an upcoming project. http://www.clearlyscale.com/category/engines
  2. I've been back on this for a week or so. I've got the cab ready and the interior and grille installed. I made an 80's style square tube grille as a trial run for some other things I want to build, I also added a big tach to the dash.

  4. I like the concept of the second one better, I don't think I've ever seen a design like that before.
  5. That's what I'm going to try. I have a Revell 77 Monte Carlo snap kit and I may try to copy that bumper, it's not perfect but it's closer than what's in the kit.
  6. That van looks like Shredder's mask.
  7. The only thing obvious now is that the rear bumper is from and earlier model, like a 74 or 75 instead of the 77 the rest of the car is. The wheels look a little iffy too. The original car seemed to run black rims so it's hard to tell if it has the five spoke style in the kit or the seven spoke style like the pics you posted but in black.
  8. I was hoping the AMT hood would be close enough that I could just use it.
  9. They just reissued one version but both are still available.
  10. Excellent build, very fleety looking.
  11. I understand that details of any race vehicle varied from event to event due to all kinds of circumstances. But, a five minute Google search shows the car never ran that back bumper. Is it going to stop me from buying the kit? No, but I would appreciate a little more homework going in to their next offering.
  12. Has anyone tried to swap the AMT 70 Challenger chassis into the Lindberg 72 Challenger kit? The 72 body looks pretty good but the rest of the kit is a bit lacking.
  13. Mine had the truck by itself, the flatbed/40 Ford combo and the yellow tanker version.
  14. The one in Gastonia near me had the Lindberg 1/16 T bucket hot rod and the 1/12 Fiat Dragster. This is the only store I've seen with these kits so if you want one let me know and I'll try to snag you one. There were only a couple T buckets but several Fiats, they're like $20.
  15. I didn't realize the scope of this project when I first posted. Do as Bill suggests and yank the plugs and squirt a little oil in the cylinders then turn the motor over with a big breaker bar. Getting it running where it is now shouldn't really be the goal, you just need to be able to spin it over enough to do a compression test to verify if it's worth further effort. If you're getting power to the interior start checking for a blown fuse, I also agree about the neutral safety switch, try starting it in neutral instead of park. This is kind of hack but might give you an indication of what's going on, try starting it with the headlights on. If the lights only dim a little the starter probably isn't getting the signal to fire, if they dim a lot the starter is likely trying to start but is frozen up somehow.
  16. The Ollie's in near Matthews NC has the yellow and black 64 Dodge, Danica's stock car, Revell snap Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers, Lindberg 61 Impala convertible, Lindberg 72 Challenger, Lindberg 37 Ford Convertible, 31 Bugatti Royale, 29 Mercedes SSK, and a few ships and planes. I picked up a 72 Challenger, Mercedes, Bugatti, and two of the 37 Ford's.
  17. Start with the basics, a good battery and clean terminals. Then start tracing out the wires and making sure they're good. You might have to put the car up on stands and have someone crank it while you're underneath listening to see if the starter is working correctly. Or it shouldn't be too hard to pull it and do a bench test with some jumper cables. If you want to make this a daily driver a new starter and solenoid are probably cheap insurance anyway.
  18. Okay, I just wanted to see if you had any more info. I understand that if we do see it again it will most likely be the Eagle version unless they commit to backdating the tooling.
  19. Tim, that's very disappointing. Based on your conversation could you tell if they have run the mold and know it works but just don't want to bring it out right now or that there's a problem with the mold or that they haven't looked in to it at all?
  20. I just heard back from Tamiya, it's real. Please direct all you hate mail to the correct address, MAP_Policy@Tamiya.com
  21. I don't have any local hobby shops anymore, its Hobby Lobby or online around here.
  22. I recently finished listening to all of the Dune novels on audiobook. I've read the original six by Frank Herbert twice before but I wanted to see how the other books by his son turned out. They're a bit hit or miss but not as terrible as the internet would have you believe.
  23. I sent my angry email, I suggest you all do the same and see if we can stop this.
