  1. I keep my small parts in little bead separators my wife got me, bigger parts are in about a dozen Avon boxes from when she used to sell it. They're like what printer paper comes in but beefier. I also have a set of plastic drawers from Walmart with partial kits in gallon ziploc bags.
  2. That's an interesting arrangement but I guess we all have to share space a bit. My hobby room currently also contains the cat litter box, which is why I do most of building in my recliner.
  3. That is very neat, great work!
  4. The kit was just going to be a corrected nose and 302 engine for their existing 69 Mustang kit. The tooling work appears to be done because they've got a built example in the first quarter announcement. It will certainly be delayed but I don't see a reason it wouldn't ever come out.
  5. It had a bed, I just robbed it to make a long bed for another build. I wanted to a flat bed for this build either way.
  6. Yeah, I really hate that they cheaped out on doing the tires correctly. They removed the lettering from the tires in the most recent camo version of the kit so at least you can turn them around right now. I'm going to fix it before I mount them up permanently.
  7. The cab is about ready for paint, I reworked the grille area because I hate how the kit treats the front turn signals. I cut the turn signals off the grille and filled the resulting hole with sheet stock. I saved the signals and sanded them down and reshaped them a bit and will add them back after the paint is done. I also added drip rails to the cab.

  9. Wow, this is a can of worms it's hard to put the monkeys back in. The AC Cobra is high on the list although I'd almost rather have a kit car so I can drive the wheels off it without worrying about wrecking it. Also high on the list is a 68 Shelby GT500, maybe a clone with some modern suspension goodies and wheels. For my attainable dream car it's a Lexus SC300, I had one but had to get rid of it but hopefully it won't be the last one.
  10. He asked, I'm just trying to help.
  11. I try to do most of my drilling and such before paint but some holes are so fine that they need to be done post paint. Also, some fine detailing has to be done once a certain amount of construction has taken place so you will be doing at least some on painted sub-assemblies.
  12. I usually save painting the body until after most of the test fitting and building is done, that way I can handle it the least amount possible. When painting it goes primer, sand, paint, clearcoat, cure time, polish, then finally foil or whatever you like for the trim.
  13. I ain't forgot it, I just can't figure out which part it is so I've got to dig out the USA-1 instructions to check. It'll be on there next time I promise.
  14. I finished the top end of the motor with a Holley carb and an air cleaner from Kris Morgan at M.A.D. I added the fuel line with anodized aluminum wire and the connectors are drilled out hexagonal rod. I also made a carb spacer from Evergreen stock and used wire from the bolts.

  16. Pat, the hood is killer, it reminds me of a turbo drag car with the air horn sticking out.
  17. The interior of the GMC is very weak and the door panels are almost completely flat. I'm going to be building a few of these kits eventually so I figured I'd try my hand at dressing it up a bit. I cut the seat out and built an actual tub for the interior. Then I added the arm rests and wood trim along with the door handles and window cranks. I also added a floor shifter and removed column one. The dash is stock but I robbed the gauge decals from the Camo truck. I went with a brown two tone figuring it would hide dirt better than other colors.

  19. It's a decent difference, compare the Monogram 70 GTX/Roadrunner to the AMT 68/69 GTX/Roadrunners or the Monogram 32 Ford to the Revell 32 Fords.
  20. I think your best bet is the Shelby kits, that engine is great and those kits are very easy to find.
  21. That is very interesting, it's similar to saying one word of a book isn't copyrightable. It's the work as a whole distinct construction that makes the whole protectable.
  22. I did, I just looked at pics online and copied the basic shape and layout. It looks more like a Lincoln unit but I'm going to paint it medium blue like a Miller unit for a bit of color. If you look closely behind the stack I put louvres on the front for the radiator, I cut up a 32 Ford hood side to get them, and since ed I took these pics I put an old hub cap on the back to simulate the end of the generator. I'm going to use some gauge decals for the dials.
