  1. What I have been using is the Perfect Match in the red and black can. It dries pretty shiny and I think it would do good for polished aluminum. I painted the air cleaner on this build with it.
  2. The Duplicolor spray chrome has gotten much better in the past few years and then there are the Molotow pens and ink too.
  3. I got the supercharged 1UZ Toyota V8 for a SC400 build I'm planning.
  4. Wow, that is old school right there. This design doesn't run an intercooler and looks like it has alcohol/water injection instead.
  5. I just want to put this here for the record since I brought up the topic. My parts from Clearly Scale arrived today and look just as advertised, it's just the lack of contact is a bit concerning.
  6. I agree about Fireball, Joeseph has Indy Profiles that should work well for your plans.
  7. Thanks for getting back to me, I guess I'll just have to wait them out.
  8. Personally I wish everything was 1/24. I like having a little extra size for my big fingers and detailing is a bit easier since things don't have to be quite as small.
  9. Nice build, it's good to see one of these finished. I have a question about your experience with Clearly Scale. I ordered something from them back in May and I haven't gotten any feedback from them and they're not responding to my emails. I checked my bank and the transaction cleared a few days after I did the order. Was your experience similar?
  10. Bill, it's page 14 of this years Cannonball Run thread.
  11. Wow, a 2jz will make the Chevy guys sweat. Usually it's their motors getting put in other cars.
  12. That looks really good blacked out like that. Good job with the decals too, ones that big make me sweat.
  13. Here's a picture of the most recent reissue of the kit. It's 1/24 scale and has been out under the Monogram name several times though the most recent version is branded as a Revell kit.
  14. Yep, Rob is exactly right. To make a flip front end work you have to find a way to connect the firewall to the kick panel area of the interior. But, if you're willing to wait a bit you might be in luck. They're reissuing a flip nose 57 Chevy that has most of this work done for you right out of the box. The scales are different but the firewall needs to be a bit smaller to clear the fenders anyway.
  15. Thanks everyone, it was a really fun build and I got to try out some things for s couple future projects. I wanted to weather it but I'm running out of time on the Cannonball build and I've still got a master to finish too. I can always go back to it though.
  16. Thanks Mike, I'm certainly glad it's done.
  17. This is my entry in the Ultimate Weekend Warrior group build. The vehicle had to be a daily driver with offroad capabilities. I started with a GMC plow truck that had been robbed of its plow and bed. I built a flatbed out of diamond plate and Evergreen pieces. I added a rollbar, a bed mounted fuel tank, a tool box, and a welder with a lead rack. I used the gun rack from the camo truck. I also robbed the engine from an early 2000's NASCAR kit. The wheels are from the Fall Guy kit, I also used the fan blower motor from that kit and added the AC evaporator and master cylinder.
  18. The other issue you're going to run into is that this kit has the bed toolbox on the passenger side so the inner bed side is different from the drivers side. To make a correct 133" bed the wheel arches need to come forward but also down. Here's the two beds from the same angle.
  19. What kit did those wheels come from, I'd like to have some.
  20. It depends, some truck manufacturers painted engines a specific color while others left them in whatever color they came from the engine plant in. Peterbilt and Kenworth painted all their engines white until the early 80s. You'll have to do some research and see what American Lafrance did.
