  1. Thanks guys! I kinda lean toward the no shield look myself.
  2. Good looking build. I did one of these years ago as a burlington Industries truck. They had 3 mills in town and used the short day cabs as spotters.
  3. Well, at least she got the yard done first!!!!
  4. Kind of an off the wall project. 1/25 scale(the Volvo is for comparison) Made out of .040 styrene, (W/M "moving sale signs!), wheels are from a Just Trucks diecast, make build stock wheels for it. It will be a slammer with an interior and sliding side doors. (I hope!)
  5. 2013 Prostar with a few minor changes. Rustoleum rattle can red, lenghtened the w/b a 1/2" (234"), fender mirrors, snap kit wheels (wanted the exposed hubs), rear cab detailing, scratchbuilt APU, homemade decals, and filled the vent in in frt. of the door. . Not sure how I like it the best, air shield on or off? Got 3 more of these, probably do 1 as a daycab.
  6. Wow, just an amazing build. I think after installing one or two of the lines on the rear i,d have put back in the closet and started something else! Good job
  7. Cool! Brings back memories
  8. Good looking truck, I like the stripes!
  9. "snap Kit" with stretched frame, scratchbuilt sleeper, Volvo tanks, wheels and stacks from a prostar kit. Tool boxes are 1/32 scale mack tanker parts, aluminum s/visor, bumper and fenders. Hum, not really a snap kit after all!
  10. Thanks for the comments! Ill try to get them behind some trucks in the future, got to build more headache racks first and finish a couple of little details.
  11. Thanks guys, probably the only 780 ill build. nice kit, but i kinda rate the build right up there with the old amt freightliner cabover! more to come
  12. I got board this winter! 53' 55ton lowboy, 44' Loadking hydraulic tail, 48' flatbed, and 48' dropdeck. All built mostly from .040 walmart "for sale" signs. dropdeck still needs toolbox painted and dollies mounted. Lowboy last photo was after the decals and hydraulic lines were added to the goosenck
  13. I havent posted in a while, so decided to start showing some winter projects. box built with scratchbuilt fender mirrors, H/lamp & rear cab detailing.Rustoleum rattle can cherry red.
  14. Good looking truck J.T. I got one of these at wm last week to redo for my galaxy trailer. For some reason they were out of orange paint though!!!
  15. I just lost interest for a while, put everything away. Arthritis in my left hand had limited my model building. I still look at this sight 2 or 3 times a week, alot of times without signing in. I have started back building again, just haven't got far enough along to post pictures. I still look and see builds that i want to comment on, but i'm so far behind on what's on here it would'nt be fair to single those out and it would take weeks to comment on all of them, all nice builds! I'll get back in the mix soon....
  16. Had this happen to a couple of my older models years ago. No explanation. Haven't payed a lot of attention to my shelf models in awhile, but I was showing them to someone the other day and noticed 3 had flat tires on the front!!!!
  17. Welcome aboard, good to see someone else from Arkansas!
  18. Although my local Walmart never carried models, it had a wide selection of diecast cars & trucks which are now gone, replaced by radio control stuff!
  19. Hey D.M., the dumpster thing was partially a joke! But seriously I haven't thought of my model "collection" because it is rather small. My health being what it is, I have already made provisions for most of my stuff that I know my wife doesn't care about, such as tools, old cars & parts, sign equipment, etc.. So far in this area no one else that I can find is in this hobby or seems to care about it. (The reason for the dumpster comment) and yes I probably need to arrange for them to go to someone. UNLESS she puts me in the dumpster with them, then I can keep on building in another life!
  20. Im sure mine will end up in the dumpster!......AGAIN!!!
  21. I use the clear gorilla glue on all my scratchbuilt stuff. never had a problem with it, but the yellow expandable is just nasty! I always use an accelerator with super glue.
  22. I build for myself probably 90% of the time, the other 10% being replicas for friends. I probably would never had gotten back into the hobby had I not found this forum. I don't do shows or contest, so other than you guys and a few friends, no one ever sees my stuff. That being said, this place pushes me to do a lot of detailing that I didn't do years ago. I used to love to build drag cars, but when I look now at the detailing and the time put into a lot of drag car builds here, well mine are now in boxes in the closet! I will always build for myself, but the perfectionist on this forum HAVE made me try and up my skill level. If you follow this forum, it pushes u to do better, which now makes me think twice now about posting builds! I'm in this hobby for fun and when I begin to see it as work, i'll quit once again. Been busy working on a 1;1 "35 Chevy rat rod, decal on the back glass says (I didn't build this to meet your approval, I built it because it met mine!) That's the way a HOBBY should always be! I'll be quiet now.....
