Well, what do you know. There was an original issue 62 300 interior tub on ebay last nite. I hit it at the last minute with full intention to win it

Thanks for the insight as to the wheelbase differences. But for my own case I'm not that worried about it. As for the side trim and emblem ,,I'm thinking I'll try to do a foil cast off the 62 kit for the badge . And some half round for the side trim. Use the 55 or 56 300 kits decals to get the 300 lettering for the trunk lid . I have a mint re-issue 62 kit I have zero qualms to cut up if I absolulety have to . But it has the wrong interior in it so that's not likely. I would rather just find someone parting one out and snag the grille/front bumper off it . Hint hint hint , anyone have one. ????? And the 61 New Yorker builtup I have was already pretty badly damaged so a drop top is a no brainer to me to fix it. Plus it was cheap by comparison ,,,I think I paid about $20 for it last year off a buddy of mine. Like I said the roof was already gone. So collector value didn't exist . Why I didn't think of it sooner baffles me. For me personally the 1961 300 is the Pinnacle of the finned Mopars. It just doesn't get ANY better than this. Just something about those mile long fins and the canted headlights makes me smile.

A year or so ago had I picked up a broken 1961 New Yorker builtup . The roof had been cut off and the top of the windshield header is broken . It was cheap so I thought what the hey. I'll do something with it someday. While rummaging around in my stash and I came across an unbuilt 1962 Chrysler 300 hardtop kit .Then a light bulb went off. And I thought ,,I wonder.???? Took the 61 apart and took said grill from the 62 and it fits the 61 body like a glove. A little sanding and some scratch building and I could feasibly make one of my all time favorite cars in the 1/1 world. A legit 1961 Chrysler 300G drop top. Yes, I know a resin kit was produced a while back but I haven't been able to find one ..at least for reasonable $$$ . BUT,,,I think maybe,,just maybe I can make my own. It'll take some scratch building on my end as well as come up with an interior tub to resemble the correct one for a 61 . But I like it . If I ever have that kind of disposable income a real one WOULD be in my garage in short order.

All of these are rattle can painted.

Outside of maybe 1 or 2. ALL of these are rattle can painted ( excluding the diecast cars obviously ) I've had an airbrush for many years ,,just elect not to use it unless I have no alternative

Went to Carbs show in Dayton ohio. Bought a few moden kits. But the best part also found 2 builtup AMT 1961 Corvettes..even better. $5 for both

Same here, I had to keep the decals REALLY wet to move them. Even then it was a challenge. Fortunately I had them in just about the right place the 1st time

Ouch $$$$$$ I think i have a front bumper and grille. MIGHT have the glass. Will ck ..but might be the 1st of the week

Cool deal. I've got about $80 in this one. Everything is/was still on the sprue trees. Detail painted the hubcaps this afternoon ..still on the chrome tree. I'll tape it up maybe Sunday or Monday to do the white inserts . Then more clear. Some will cry i started with an unbuilt kit. But when i bought it my plan from day one was to build it. I also have a 60 Edsel in the same condition and it will have the exact same fate. I do have a 58 as well but the chrome needs redone on it so this one goes 1st . All mine are are convertibles.

Another painted body for a winter project. Although I may keep working on this one. Paint and emblems turned out near flawless. And I absolutely love this color. And a picture of my inspiration. Bought this one as a near mint in box unbuilt original issue kit ( it had a cracked windshield header ) I got a pretty good deal on it compared to what decent builders are/were bringing . ( under $100 delivered ) I fixed all the sink marks ( not an easy task I might add ) and said broken windshield header. Then painted it in Tamiya TS41 Light Coral with 2 coats of Tamiya clear. In person it does have just a touch more green to it than my monitor shows it to have . In the cabinet it goes to dry for a week or so. ,,or at least till I figure out how to 2 tone the interior tub And to Steve Guthmiller our resident annuals guru......, I SOOOOO thank you for the tips to foil then paint for the emblems.

Interior tub, seats and all related stuff for the the Johan 1964 Cadillac With the correct and matching front and rear seat patterns for a 64 . Now I can correct my re-issue and build it replica stock. This might bring this one to the front of the line. Bought it off a guy in one of my Facebook groups for vintage kits

Thanks all. A couple things I would change if I had it to do over. 1 - Remove the molded in rocker panel trim, as well as the trim surrounding the interior bucket ( I did sand the emblems off the side coves and the above the grille .) 2nd - I would fill the slots in the back of the car below the tail lights , That way I could leave the rear bumpers off. I liked it better with no rear bumpers but the empty slots wasn't going to cut it . as a build note, I did shorten the stubs on the rear wheel inner halves where the axle goes in to narrow the rear trak a bit to bring the rear tires in under the car. . I also added some pieces of styrene on top of the wheelhouse to act as a spacer to lift the body up just a tad to clear the tops of the tires,,otherwise the tires wanted to rub the top of the wheel opening . Overall its pretty easy kit to do and I REALLY like it . even with the issues this kit has.

I'll admit. The front end is similar to a 55ish chevy,,,and I wish it replicated something closer to the stock Cadillac But then again, If someone wanted to give it to me, Id drive it exactly as is and grinning from ear to ear for a LOOOOOONG time.

Pictures online are deceiving. Its a medium tan and a dark 'goldish' colored upper dash. Actually the top of the dash has a metallic look to it in person I am planning black with tan interior on one of mine . ( I have an unbuilt hardtop , and just bought an original issue vert today ) the other will be red with dark red interior. Just not sure which one gets what yet Not sure how it looks on your monitor but its pretty close to this

IMO Cadzilla was more about in your face visual style / change This ones more about subtle changes with LOTS of hidden / under body upgrades. and conveniences. To be honest Cadzilla wasn't my cup of tea. But would drive the snot out of this one

Might I make a suggestion for color combo. use the wires from the 55 300 and some parts pack tires ,,,yummy ( Mobeius 300 tires are to tall IMO )

This one ranks up there as one of my all time favorites. Mainly due to the simplicity of it. It went from an idea to a painted shell in under 24 hours. I bought the paint color for something else and couldn't use it. So I decide to see how it looked on this. Simply drug it out of the box, sanded the mold lines off and painted it in the morning, put the decals on later that day,,,,, and cleared the whole thing the next morning. NO buffing or polishing at all , and it laid down like glass. And is EASILY one of my best all rattle can paint jobs ever.

Thanks all. I did finish up the engine compartment. Air cleaners are just topped off with BMF and painted to look like paper elements and I tried one more time to take a better indoor pic. Its 100% done and in the case for good now. Thanks again for the comments and following along .
