  1. A really good friend of mine just sold his 1965 Fury Pace car convertible to a guy in the Grand Rapids MI area. He had owned it for a few years ,,,drove the snot out of it . He just felt it was time to move on and concentrate on his 67 Coronet RT convertible project. I am on the hunt for a clean builder 65 convertible kit to replicate it . I've already done his 55 Chrysler 300, 70 Charger, 69 Dart 383 , and his 68 Coronet RT vert. Planning to do his orange Superbird soon
  2. what is masking paper ? I had thought about the cling wrap idea before,,just never tried it . Makes me wonder how well it will seal along the edges ,,,. I have a sox and martin duster build coming up REAL soon and I don't want paint bleeding under tape lines ,,and the thought of painting clear on it first to me sounds like its just going to make a thicker edge
  3. The Color Me Gone version has the max wedge engine only. And as mentioned, I think only the 64 Plymouth kit had the slant six as an optional engine in it ???????
  4. I could go on for days with the stuff I've bought in the past year or 2. Nothing newer than 1962 and I bet most if not all of them were built pretty close to when they were released
  5. Its not that I dislike them, quite the contrary actually. I just choose to support my local hobby shop(s) first if I can I will go in a HL if they have something I need ( and need it now ) and my LHS doesn't have or can't get in a reasonable time frame . OR like I said when I have a 40% off coupon. I actually picked up one of the re-issued Ford race car hauler trucks a while back ,,with the discount it was about the same as any online retailer I found for the same kit Back over the winter I bought a bunch of the discounted metal signs for my down stairs family room re-model project.
  6. I rarely go on the one near me. when I do its with a discount coupon. I am one of the lucky ones. I have to decent hobby shops with a 15 minute drive and I prefer to support them if I can . Be it new kits or supplies . I haven't bought any newly released kits online in probably 2 or 3 years ( bought a BUNCH of old annuals though )
  7. Great idea. A buddy of mine has a Canadian 1956 Mercury M1 pickup
  8. Built by me , ,,,,a Loooooong time ago . And there's no chance I ever redo it in my lifetime Johan 1969 Roadrunner, I know the colors are wrong,,,but I plan to build another one someday a little more accurate ,,,but this one will stay as is . I have a few others from way back when,,,,but will snap off a few pics a little later maybe today
  9. To be honest. My favorite is actually one of my most recent. Also one of the fastest builds I've ever done. Start to finish in just over 24 hours. It was far easier than I imagined it was going to be and turned out much better than I thought it would.
  10. I was in one of the local hobby shops yesterday . They had maybe 4 or 5 of these. I just could not get excited about buying one. I walked out with nuttin but paint for some other builds I have in the wings
  11. While displaying some model at a local contest a few years ago. A man walked up to ask me how much I would charge to make a replica of his car ( Plymouth Superbird ) Not a hard kit to find obviously. But when I told him $100 plus the kit and materials ,,,and to expect to pay well north of $250 - 300 or more depending on how detailed he wanted it. He said no thanks . Yet, I have a few builds I've turned down over $500 for. And oddly enough 3 or 4 of the cars I've built in the past 18 months ,,,,, were for family and friends and I refused to take any kind of payment for. ( they own the actual 1/1 I was trying to copy )
  12. its a stock wheel base Super Stock car. The altered wheelbase car isn't due out till next year
  13. Ahhh, the cammer. Even though I'm a diehard mopar guy. I've always thought the cammer was one of the best looking engines ever produced. I've had a project in my head for years to build a Cobra with one in it
  14. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=IMC+Avenger+GT-12&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=41005&_sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&_salic=1&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50&LH_Complete=1
  15. I'll tinker with a done build every so often. Usually to redo something I was not happy with in the beginning. Like maybe tweak the ride height , add decals I didn't have before. I actually have one I have been thinking that I want to strip and repaint, as I now have the decals to redo it
  16. value is determined by the buyer at any given time. I've seen 2 of those kits sell in the past year. One sold at over 1700. The other didnt break 500
  17. I believe the the side trim insert on a sport fury has a machine turned insert. Fury is simply painted like shown But,,,,, considering the car shown it might just be a hogg pogg of parts
  18. 1964 Plymouth side trim designates it a Fury
  19. Me ? I am maybe an hour northeast of Louisville.
  20. looking fantastic so far. I remeber seeing a mustang bodied funnycar. Where the engine sat in it sideways I want say it was a Kallita built car??????
  21. Well, while rummaging around in the stash this afternoon. I stumbled onto this one. Started long ago ( been so long I don't remember when ) So I sat it on the workbench to be the next up. Summer is tough for me to get modeling time,,,but not impossible. So it make take a little time to actually call it done. Its the Johan body and interior with the chassis from the AMT 1968 Roadrunner kit. engine will be from the parts box . Painted in Testors Petty blue with the required black vinyl top , it'll be white interior and lettering. 440 six barrel auto power train. Want to replicate a car a good friend of mine used to own.
