'67 Dodge Charger, MPC or Revell?
gtx6970 replied to Roadrunner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i think the seat pattern is different between 66 and 67. Also. 1966 used blue pinstripe tires. 67 used redlines -
the 40s cars typically aren't my thing....... But WOW. I really like this one a lot and I think I'll just have to get one for myself .

Very very snug tires on wheels
gtx6970 replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Steve, Which aftermarket tires do you use. I recently picked up some of the AMT parts pack whitewall tire sets. and they are hollow. With the design of the old annuals simple wheels . Have you run into any fitment issues using this combination ? -
Chrysler 413 Cross Ram in 1962?
gtx6970 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
From 1962s 300H, the fins were gone, as was the letter series' unique place in the Chrysler lineup; there was now a whole Chrysler 300 Sport Series (which included a four-door hardtop along with a two-door hardtop and convertible), along with the 300H. Externally there was little difference between the 300H and the 300 Sport Series (except for a "300H" badge on the driver's side of the trunk), and many of the 300H's features could be ordered as options on the other models. Under the hood of the 300H the cross ram engine became an option, and there was a return to the inline dual 4-barrel carb setup of the 300E as the base power plant. With a slight power boost and a 300 lb (140 kg) lighter body, the 300H was faster than the 300G, but the loss of exclusivity coupled with high prices made this the slowest-selling letter series year yet, with only 435 coupes and 135 convertibles sold. -
Very very snug tires on wheels
gtx6970 replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Agreed ,,,,I've done a couple late 50s annuals and the tires are hard as a rock. heat a bowl of water up and drop the tires in for few a few minutes,,works every time -
So cool. I have the Johan version on the bench right now I am going with Tamiya TS23 to replicate Petty Blue and with a white interior

If you could only choose ONE photo of any of your builds, wich would it be?
gtx6970 replied to JAFFA's topic in Model Cars
Might not be my absolute favorite build . But it ranks pretty high because I REALLY like the way this one came out. Built it in under 24 hours -
And yet another BMF ?
gtx6970 replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I do mine, I barely burnish it down much at all till AFTER its trimmed . Just enough to hold it in place is all you need. Once trimmed away have at it with Q tips, Kleenix, mild / soft paper towels . -
'67 Dodge Charger, MPC or Revell?
gtx6970 replied to Roadrunner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Does the MPC version still have sink marks in the body like the past issues ? -
I have the current Lindberg kit as well as a few of the original 61 annuals ( both convertibles ) I'll snap off a few comparison pics of the 2 side by side later this weekend . But I'll be honest,,,, even though I am always on the hunt for old annuals. The Lindberg kit is nice enough I don't look for the original issue 61 hardtop

Luxury in the future?
gtx6970 replied to bbowser's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It might not even be real. may just be a computer generated photo / mockup exercise. it might even be designed to steer from the rear wheels ? -

I like the color,,,,,everything else about it is just plain old ugly -
Another Pledge with Future Question
gtx6970 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
2 bodies painted with the exact same can of paint ( painted about 2 or 3 days apart ) , Duplicolor shot straight from the rattle can. So its a lacquer. I've already been down the enamel clear over white before,,and that's another one I will not do again The one on the right has a future clear coat the one on the left has NO clear of any kind . Its wasn't planned that way,,its just the way it worked out. I'd read about it so wanted to try the stuff and make my own opinion . And the one on the right was 1st to get completed. ( the one on the left sat for about a year or 2 in a clear display case for no reason other than life got in the way of model bench time) To be honest ,,,,,I didn't notice the color differences at all until I had the 2 cars side by side in the case . So the change is subtle,,,but its most definitely changed the brightness of the white . And it might be just a little more noticeable in person. Buts its definitely there. and I will not use it again as a clear top coat. I'll stick to my Urethane clear Not to mention its NOT as shiny as a clear top coat ,,IMO . The one on the left has NO clear coat of any kind. -
Agreed. It all depends on what one seeks in a kit. The Lindberg kit builds into a pretty decent replica. with much better detail than the original kit. I have a few of the Lindberg examples, and also a few of the originals,,,,,although all my originals are convertibles.

"Drag Strip" Logos-Window/Bumper Stickers

I think the closest thing I've seen to anything like this is the old Drag News decals If they were avail, I'd be in for a few -
Another Pledge with Future Question
gtx6970 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oddly enough I used it on a white car. With that build siting next to another car I painted with the same paint, it's definitely yellowed a touch -
Yep and yep

Like I said, If your going to wire it , it takes absolutely NO longer to wire it as OEM as it does to not ......so why not do it right. Having it judged or not is irrelevant ,,,,or just how far your going as far as the level of detail. For me its about satisfaction . I don't do contests. I build for ME and ME ALONE . I like the fact I can look under the hood of a model car and know its right for the AMOUNT of detail I WANT TO PUT INTO IT . When I build more than box stock ( anymore its extremely rare ) About the most I do is plug wires and heater hoses . I'll wire it correctly and try my best to route the hoses like OEM from where they enter the engine block to where they enter the firewall ,,I want it the best I could do. For me that's all I need to make me happy with it .

Another Pledge with Future Question
gtx6970 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Maybe I used it wrong, But I used it on a build last year and was NOT impressed. It sits on the shelf of doom and will most likely go in the trash someday. or maybe I'll use it on the floors . -
i have several from the old annuals. I will NOT be using ( late 50s - early 60s car )
