  1. Like this ?
  2. Thats what I was thinking , a medium silver with a very light/thin topcoat. A lot of the early vinyls back then had a pearlessance to them . I keep thinking a metallizer color would/might/maybe work Then with maybe a pearl off white on the steering column ?, decisions, decisions, decisions . Who said model building was easy . But I really want to do this car just once,,,but right . at least as close to right as I can within reason .
  3. I managed a little modeling time this morning. Once I primed the interior ,,i noticed the moldings in the door panels were almost non existent . So I dug out some .010 x .010 stryene strips and made my own . Once cleaned up and re-primed, they should be much easier to see and foil . Also mixed up some filler to fill all the little sink marks on the body,,,and there were a lot of them .
  4. If its a big tank car, I have . not a common option on early vettes
  5. MCW lists the Lincoln Futura color called silver mink ? Looked it and Ice blue pearl up on TCB Globals website. Silver mink might be ok for the seats, but definitely not for the exterior. Cant find any color chips for the Ice Blue . I've decided to just spray it Tamiya pure white with a testors white lightening over coat and call it good . The few color pics I can find of the car they ALL look white to me . The interior on the other hand,,,I'm not so sure about yet. My Plan is go out today and ck out the testors metallizer line.
  6. I have 2 clean 1960 Lincoln convertibles, and 1 clean 59 convertible. and I don't have $150 in all 3 combined. One of my 60s could all most pass for mint in the box if you took it apart
  7. No problems I like that idea,, the Johan pieces isn't looking to promising they are gonna work AND clear the front tires. I'll try this and see how it looks
  8. I just use duplicolor Hemi orange. I actually use duplicolor for all my engine paints And mopar performace for the earlier Race hemi orange builds.( its lighter orange ) spray either one over a good primer and never had a problem in nearly 10 years
  9. I've decided this one has sat in the unfinished pile for to long. Time to dig in and getrdone . While trying to figure out how to assemble the body and still be able to install the interior proved to not gonna happen, (thus the time its sat in a box for the past 5 or more years started ) So yesterday morning I dry fit the interior and fully assembled the body taping it up to hold everything square and secure till glue dried. Then cut the chassis pan out of it with a razor saw. My plan is detail the interior and put it in from the bottom like any other model. I've already added some stryene strips to the body give it a ledge to glue the chassis pan to . Next up is fix all the sink marks on the body to get her ready for paint. My idea for exterior paint is ( hopefully someones done this before and I'm right) Paint the body white, then top coat that with Testors white lightning to give it the pearl effect. Then either A- use a clear blue top coat over that then clear the whole thing Or B - dig out the air brush and mix some blue in the clear my 1st choice is plan A ,unless someone tells me its not going to work ( might dig out and do some spoon tests to ck my idea) comments good and bad always welcome and encouraged
  10. Agreed,,, 99% of the pictures I can find of the car are in black and white, which makes if difficult to pin down the exact interior colors . I am leaning towards a slightly darker silver with maybe a real dark grey contrasting color . I have the body in primer now and will concentrate on fixing sink holes in it this weekend maybe
  11. Have a question in hopes someone can answer. Another one of my started but not yet completed builds has been calling my name more and more lately. So I think its needs to move to the front of the line. I have the body assembled and plan to cut the chassis out so I can do the body right and install the interior from below then glue the chassis plate back in I think I know what color to do the body ,,,but for the life of me I cant make out what colors the interior was. Its looks like black,,with the seats and areas on the doors in either a silver leather or vinyl ???????? any ideas ?
  12. Now were talking. I have most of these and several others not shown I love the big open road cars of the period. That long hood ( preferably with a V12 or V16 under it ) Long canvass top with no side curtains , Me likely.
  13. I probably have the dual plug hemi valve covers , intake and carbs in the parts box i might be able to talked out of
  14. Come on down Steve, I plan to be retired living in Arizona looooooooong before then .........SO build season could be quite long ( actually going down this summer to ck out property ,,but that's another story )
  15. outstanding ,,both the model and the photography I thought the 1st pic was a real car
  16. I wouldn't worry about it to much. I have one that the skirts were on. Popped them off easily enough and there's nuttin under them to really get damaged anyway
  17. I've got a few of them . ,,,from both Danbury and Franklin Mint. A good friend of mine got on the mailing list for them both back in the 80s. . They would send him a new car about every 3 months. And that went on for several years. Needless to say he had a bunch ,, a WHOLE BUNCH of them. He's been slowly selling them off on Ebay the past year or so . ,,at least the ones he wants to sell. Some have done quite well price wise. I know of a few that darn near dinged $1000 mark
  18. I used to do the contests thing. did ok I guess. Over the years they started to stack up. On a whim one day I took them to a local model club and donated. Some I donated to a local boy scout troop to get rebadged . The only one I've kept is my 1st place plaque I received at the Mopar Nats about 15 years ago. ,,,maybe even closer to 20 years ago. The contest thing really does nothing for me . I think I've only entered one in the past 15 plus years
  19. No such thing does or ever will exist. For me personally if I look in my case and see what I was trying to achieve. Its good
  20. Couldn't agree more or have said it any better myself. At my age ( closer to the end than I am the beginning ) I have grown to really like the simpler kits. Plus once done and in the case they really don't look at different than a current tool release. Not to mention subject matter is an issue,,at least for me it is. So sometimes we have to take whats avail, be them old or newer releases . I like the more detailed kits ,,,they're just not for me any longer. I've managed to pick up about 40 or so vintage kits in the past 2 years. And I figure at my current rate. I can have them all re-done in about 10 years. Not considering my stash of more recent kits.,,,,with those I should be good till I'm about 125 give or take a few years.
  21. I managed to get a little build time on this one. After talking to Jim Hall about the car. I decided it was gold interior ( this is Tamiya champagne gold ) and it was front buckets and it had a back seat,,,at least while Golden Commandos campaigned the car. I still have to paint and install the arm rests,The detail paint the window crank handles . Instrument panel is done,,,just needs glued in. My hurdle at the moment is trying to make an old set of Johan fenderwell headers work with the Lindberg chassis and engine
  22. Decals for the bug and the hauler are avail ,,,,, http://www.ebay.com/itm/301906428751?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I have both of these builds on my want to do soon list . And am in gather kits mode now. Was told elsewhere to use the Polar lights spiderman kit for the bug.
  23. I read it more that it COULD include bldgs and property IF the prospective new owner desired it as such .
  24. I buy to build based on my interests ,,,not how many parts are in the box . I have nothing against the newer higher parts count kit, Its just most of my interests lie in early subject matter. of which there isn't near enough of in newer tooled kits
  25. My gut feeling is it'll be the latter. IMO, for it to continue forward it will have be someone well established and knows the business side of it / work involved. Then again, part of me thinks it may be sold In pieces, ( if its sold off at all ) someone will buy the tire and wheels molds, someone else will body the complete kit molds, someone else will by the parts molds , etc etc etc
