Couldn't agree more or have said it any better myself. At my age ( closer to the end than I am the beginning ) I have grown to really like the simpler kits. Plus once done and in the case they really don't look at different than a current tool release. Not to mention subject matter is an issue,,at least for me it is. So sometimes we have to take whats avail, be them old or newer releases . I like the more detailed kits ,,,they're just not for me any longer. I've managed to pick up about 40 or so vintage kits in the past 2 years. And I figure at my current rate. I can have them all re-done in about 10 years. Not considering my stash of more recent kits.,,,,with those I should be good till I'm about 125 give or take a few years.

I managed to get a little build time on this one. After talking to Jim Hall about the car. I decided it was gold interior ( this is Tamiya champagne gold ) and it was front buckets and it had a back seat,,,at least while Golden Commandos campaigned the car. I still have to paint and install the arm rests,The detail paint the window crank handles . Instrument panel is done,,,just needs glued in. My hurdle at the moment is trying to make an old set of Johan fenderwell headers work with the Lindberg chassis and engine

I read it more that it COULD include bldgs and property IF the prospective new owner desired it as such .

I buy to build based on my interests ,,,not how many parts are in the box . I have nothing against the newer higher parts count kit, Its just most of my interests lie in early subject matter. of which there isn't near enough of in newer tooled kits

My gut feeling is it'll be the latter. IMO, for it to continue forward it will have be someone well established and knows the business side of it / work involved. Then again, part of me thinks it may be sold In pieces, ( if its sold off at all ) someone will buy the tire and wheels molds, someone else will body the complete kit molds, someone else will by the parts molds , etc etc etc

Hope the OP doesn't mind me asking here. I want to build both of these. What would be the best options for currently avail kits to use ,,preferably with everything needed ( besides decals obviously ) ????

Amen, My wife and I have been together nearly 26 years, married 23 this fall. I have ZERO complaints . She likes my toys ( maybe not as much as I do but its all good ) We are fortunate to be able to live comfortable. ( not extravagant ) She is my best friend, and my life would mean so much less without her,,,,,and No she doesnt read over my shoulder .

This entire car was painted with rattle cans . I cut a promo box up to just fit over the body to limit as much over spray as I could. I just let the end of the body I was trying to paint stick out of the box/shield so to speak . The entire body was painted gold, Then covered it to allow the front end to stick out , sprayed the white, then the pearl white on top of that. Then turned it around to allow the back end stick out to spray the rear colors over the gold . Just went light coats with the clear red gradually sliding the box back to cover a small area,That way the red back end was much darker than the say the doors forward ( hopefully that makes sense ) It was more a test than anything to see if I could pull it off to get the results I wanted . And I am super happy with it

I agree to a point the NASCAR under pinnings MIGHT be the same. and MAYBE they used earlier body chassis's ( IMO ,,not likely ) But there are enough difference between a 65 chassis / floor pans versus 68 stuff. ..for me personally I would NOT be happy with it doing it that way

The majority of the kits I have an interest in have a REALLY low parts count. Take a look at the 1958 or 59 annuals for an example. On most of them the chassis consisted of a chassis plate and 4 axle locators , 2 axles, the tires and wheels and that's it. Or the Interior was the tub with seats molded in , a dash and steering wheel. The body had the hood molded in , so no engine or under hood detail . most had just the body shell, glass, front and rear bumper/grille assy. Some had extra tail or headlight bezels . Actually the majority of the kit ,,was custom parts. like lake pipes , fender skirts , glue on fins / wings ,,,etc etc . If building it stock and not painting anything. It could be completely assembled in probably 15 minutes or less. They were held together with screws so in reality even no glue was required unless you were adding on all the gaudy custom stuff.

Very cool. I've always admired these sailing ships kits But building one ,I think would really try my patience as a builder . But someday I may just give it a shot. ( built one as a kid and no idea what ever happened to it ,,,that was a loooooong time ago )

I liked hers so much, I built one for me. Only I took some liberties on mine ---such as a different drive-train plus I repainted mine

My daughter built this 2 years ago,,,she was 12 at the time. No paint, just some spare decals I had laying around

Yep, tooling was altered many many years ago. so that idea is toast. It would be a dream come true for me. And I'm just not paying $100 for a clean buildup original. I have an R+R resin one. Its not perfect but its not hateful either. ,,,I just would rather not have resin. I'm working on a trade deal to get a clean 69 locally,,,but would much rather have the 68 .

Sure would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath to get an all new one. Originals command top money for buildups . Then again, Never in my wildest dreams think an all new tool of a 1955 Chrysler 300 would develop either. If they do it, I'll take a case right now. Especially if they do it so can be done as a Superbee or an R/T

Interesting. The only acrylic I've used is black to detail grilles because I can thin it with water to make it flow out and not damage chrome. Might have to look into using outer colors.

I cant answer this in all certainty . The only early Barracuda promos I have is a 66 and a 69 . And I have an original issue 68 barracuda kit which I know is MPC I think the 66 promo may be AMT , and can only assume MPC did the 69 promos I mainly collect the mid size B body cars . GTX , Chargers etc etc

I guess to be PC correct. I am pretty sure Johan did all Mopar promos up to and including 1964 , From there Johan did only the Plymouth's up to 1970. MPC did the 1965 thru 1970 Dodges, and I think they took over them all after 1970 model year for Ma Mopar. same thing applies to the kits of the period

I'm pretty sure you are correct. I think Johan did all the Mopar promos up well into the late 60s I collect dealer promos , but nothing that old so my knowledge is limited of the early car stuff

Yep, the moral to eBay is if an item sells for more then your willing to pay. wait a week ( sometimes more , sometimes less ) there WILL be another one. As a rule if its something hard to find or rarely shows up on there . And yet,,,When one does show and sells for insane money. I guarantee another one , or 2 or 3 will show up soon, sometimes the same day. And it RARELY brings anything close to the 1st ones sale price. When I see an item that catches my fancy and I wouldn't mind having it. I'll throw a bid and see what happens , sometimes i win , sometimes I loose. But if I REALLY want it, I bid at the last few seconds . Again if I get it fine, if not . that's fine as well. ( see above ) case in point. I wanted a clean builder 59 Fury kit. But they were consistently going anywhere from $200 to as high as $250 . I waited and got one a few weeks ago for about $125 , including the original box and some of the custom stuff . There was one on a few days ago that was real dirty and the pictures were so so. But I thought about trying to grab it as well ( makes a nice trading piece ) But got busy with house / family and forgot about it. It sold for about $50 Trust me, patience is key when it comes to buying on Ebay. For me personally , I have a list of my wants on my desk, and I had them all saved in my Ebay saved search page . Over the past 18 months or so I've filled all but about 3 or 4 of them. Some I paid fair market for , some I paid well under fair market. But NONE did i pay over ,,,,A - fair market or B - my budget.
