Heater Hose Gauge
gtx6970 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Mopar heater hose is 5/8" for 1969 and earlier for both Then in 1970 they have 1 is 5/8". The other is only 1/2" Sorry dont know what gauge would be correct I have some i can measure if fit helps -
Max wedges cars used a single head pipe Hemi cars used the snake looking setup with 4 pipes per side as shown above The Hemi dint come out till mid year 1964. So the max wedge was still avail the 1st part of 1964. But was long gone by 1965

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
gtx6970 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I agree, if its not fun back away. No way would I rush this to finish it before you feel its ready. Work at the pace that makes you happy. For me it has to be enjoyable. And I'll get bored easily. When I do I turn out the lights and close the door .then come back when the mood strikes me to . I might work at the bench for a few hours a day - everyday for weeks on end,,,then not go there for weeks . But theres no way I can build at anywhere near the level this car is ,,I dont have that much patiance. This car has taken on a life all its own and to rush it might sacrifice something your not completly happy with in the end . Shelve it and work on something else or nothing at all. You can always come back to it later . BUT , it looks amazing. I would love to have a few of those K style barrel valves in 1/25th scale ,,,and I doubt I'm the only one . -
Glad to see it back. But I have at least a half dozen of them in various issues ,,,,,,so I really dont want/need any more unless they go on a firesale

The Dodge Boys , another long stalled project
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
OK, got a question. with the 1964 Hemi cars, they were factory delivered with Carter carbs. But it wasnt far into the season a lot of racers switched to Holleys ( which is what Mopar went to for 1965 ) With this car still running under the same class # has the earlier 64 max wedge car ( #602 ) I assume its early in its life ,,,/ the season and the Carters would be correct ? I've been able to find one and only one underhood picture of this car where Grumpy is working on it,,,and I'm pretty sure it has the Holleys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

My least favorite part of building is the BMF work, this one was no exception . But, I had some time to kill this afternoon. So I dug in a did what had to be done. I also repainted and made some extensions for the headers and added the candy cane striping found on the 1/1 Should get the glass glued in this evening.. then starting final assy in the next few days . plan is have it done this weekend -
On my monitor . it just looks orange. But it looks killer.

Although I would certaintly not kick out the idea of stocking up on the 58 annuals IF they re-issued them ( IMO not likely ) I already have all but one so its no longer a top priority for me

Good looking build. This body style sure looks good in all black

Modelhaus Not taking New Orders Once Again
gtx6970 replied to 59-Desoto's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Buying Modelhaus in one lump sum is not going to be easy ,,and i have a feeling NOT cheap. . Especially if the buyer needs to relocate everything any kind of distance ( and I am sure there is a LOT to move) IMO, doing so may take a while to see any kind of return on investment within a short time period .Which brings up another issue,,,,, There own retiremant schedule ,,,I think any buyer has to think about there own age or retiremant will be an issue again ,,,sooner than later. You also have to think about the man power to operate it as a business and not just a couple days of the week hobby. IMO it would require its own dedicated facility . That way when the day is over turn out the lights and close the door and go home and not think about it. Its a business , treat it as such with normal hours to allow the owners(s) to have a life outside of the operation. Also, IMO, a potential buyer needs to already have an establised presence in the aftermkt world to assure customers the quatily will be comparable to what Holthaus has estabilished . Otherwise it will be an uphill battle that the new owner(s) may , (or may not) not have the finances to endure for any kind of sustained time frame . Again all this is MY 2cents only. -

My replica build of my former car. A black - with black interior 1970 Road Runner 440 six barrel 4 spd car. I have a Johan builtup to do it with . Its just theres always something else catches my attention and it gets boxed back up. Someday I guess. When I do it, it will be as far from box stock I have ever gone .

NOW, we're talking. Love these body style 300's. ( I have a 68 in my very very short to do list ) Spanish Red with red ( or white ) interior would look pretty nice as well. The interiors on these cars have a slight pearl tint to them. And look amazing in person And I vote no on the vinyl top. I think it takes away from the lines of the car . -
very cool. I have one to do in the very near future Any build issues besides the decals I should be aware of ?
-
I really like it. I think the color choices are dead on what one usually finds these in. And its definitely on par with your usual quality. BUT,,,, IMO, the wheels takes away from it. A set of the factory spinner hubcaps and whitewall tires would have been killer on it . and btw, we need to talk about these red heater hoses on a mopar. Thats a big NO NO in the 1/1 car world. ,,To add I agree with Harry in I think the 67 GTX is one of the best body desings Mopar ever did. To bad its under appreciated in the 1/1 car world compared to 68 and later

Be a pretty cool project. of a rather unusal subject,,,which means I'm in Got to say I'm not a fan of the way they did the headlight / front lower nose area. Still cool overall though
