MPC Soapy Sales Challenger Funny car ......
gtx6970 replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not sure I follow. This kit shares nothing in common with the original issue MPC 1970 Challenger kit annual ,,,and no the body is not the same . As a side note,,,,, the body in the Soapy Sales kit is not the same as the one in the Original Color Me Gone kit either -

gtx6970 replied to b-body fan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll just turn the light out and go do something else. Sometimes I come right back the model bench,,,sometimes its months later -

$2.25 Million Cuda
gtx6970 replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hemi Cuda convertibles have been deep into 7 figures for many years now. And I know of quite a few that get driven on a regular basis ,, One guy I know has a 1970 Hemi Cuda vert as well as a 1970 Hemi Challenger vert,,he takes them both on drives quite often so,,,, not all of them are garage queens -

Steve, It looks amazing ( as I expected ) Glad to be able to help with the wheels. Looks like they went to a good home. And the '58 Sunliner conv body saved my builtup . I have been looking for a clean builder 61 Ford for myself . But unlike you,,,,,,,,, I want the roof-less version.

Just bought Moebius 65 Satellite
gtx6970 replied to Nova-ss's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, its undersized . A Mopar 7.25 rear axle has a removable rear cover ( similar to a Dana ) Only the 8.75 has the solid hsg as shown -
An extremely nice , unpainted, uncustomized , clean 1960 Lincoln convertible builtup . I already have 2 others but condition wise this one beats them both hands down Now, If I can just find a 1959 thats just as nice , I would be a happy camper. The box is an original a good friend of mine gave me that I will use as wall art

opinions on Lindberg & Polar Lights kits
gtx6970 replied to b-body fan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've built a few of the Lindberg 1964 Dodges with no complaints. My daughter has done both the Polar lights 65 Dodge and the snap kit 1966 Batmobile , and I dont think either one was any real problem -
I cant upload pictures any more to the server, cant even use an image link to post them ( from ebay as an example ) But havent tried using my photobucket pics yet And before when I opened a thread I had viewed before it took me directly to where I last visited,,now it takes me to the begining of the thread ,regardless if I had looked at it before or not

Check me if I'm wrong here, but weren't/aren't parts such as hood latch striker plates (indeed the latch itself) and hood hinges originally cadmium-plated? Art Depends entirely the car / model being replicated. I think most GM stuff is / was a dark grey phosphate . Mopars are/were a dark brownish red colored zink on the hood latch stuff and the trunk latch stuf is clear zinc.

New releases at Hobby Lobby
gtx6970 replied to VW93's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gonna stop by my local LHS next week and see if they have the 65 Plymouth and the Del Rio wagon ,,I want at least one of each. Got big plans for the Del Rio -
I have an older issue of the 67 Charger ,,,I think its molded in black???? . I've had it for over 20 years and never did anything with it,,,so its not likely I wil add any new release of the same car.

Was over at a friends place this morning and he gave me this. A 1936 Ford kit he bought new i,,,he thinks about 1963 or so Its just parts , decals and instructions,,( no actual car.) I will throw the pieces in the parts box and use the box for wall art PS, Since the board change why cant I upload pictures from my files .? All I get is a message saying , with no explanation as the reason of problem ' There was a problem uploading the file. ' I cant even use an external image link ( such as from Ebay )

AMT 1959 Corvette differences
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Many thanks Mark, I figured there had to be a difference why the re-isues were so cheap compard to the original issues I will avoid the re-issue and just keep an eye out for an original issue then for a decent price . -
Is there any difference between the original issue as opposed to any of the more recent issues ? If so, what are they . Does it still have the 1959 model year on the license plate like the original ? My only concern is once built OE stock can it be told from the original ?
-
Steve, The 58 Ford I have the wheels are ,,ok. maybe a rechrome but decent shape otherwise . My 1959 Mercury , I could use one due to a custom spinner added to it .the rest are very savable Its my 1959 Galaxie builder thats the main one I mainly need hubcaps for .

Does any or all the above have tires and hubcaps that are close to what would have been avail on any of the above If not ,,short of Modelhaus any other source to obtain anything ? ( I would prefer stryene if I can is my reasoning )

About the most detail I go to anymore is plug wires, heater hoses and battery cables. Anything more than that I tend to get dis-interested in the whole build Besides ,,,,,,outside of any pictures I post of the build online ( IF I do even that ) . No one is going to see it but me ,, Although I do like and can appreciate the level of detail some go to make them look real . But,,,,,, the funny part is, the older I get the less desire I have to do any extreme detailing . I started out doing mostly box stock builds and I think I've come full circle back to just that
