Scale I Build

  1. In the movie, Sean looses his car, so uses his dad's mustang shell and his silvia engine to create this drift racer. AMT's old 67 mustang is a nicely molded kit, but the fit issues are substantially bad. The rims were way oversized and incorrect, so it's now running viper rims and tires. I painted the stripes rather than using the decals. other than that. it's all box stock. It's pictured with my DK's nissan.
  2. Trying to get something done while I have some vacation, so I'm starting a relatively simple project. Using Revell's 1950 Ford F-1 to build a brush truck (and no it's not green). I'll be modifying it into a heavy 3/4 ton F-3 with a long bed, and adding a Marmon-Harrington 4x4 conversion. Using this version of the kit, and one of the current issues to donate parts as needed. First step was cutting the bed floor free. Revell cast this as part of the fenders / running board. After taking the photo I cut away the second kits floor for use as a donor. Using parts from both kits I extended the bed from the F-1's 6 1/2 foot to an F-3's 8 foot (8" at the front, 10" at the rear). The wheel base will have to be extended 8" as well, from 114" to 122". The putty shows where the cuts were made. Technically this is incorrect, as Ford also widened their longbed by a few inches. If one wanted to make a 100% accurate 8 foot express bed, the bed needs to be widened 6", the sides raised 1", the fenders narrowed, wheel wells added inside the bed, the floor rebuilt (Ford used the same number of boards, just a little wider) and of course a new tailgate made. As the idea is to finish something for a change I'm just going to call this a custom longbed...
  3. Hello. Does anybody have the instructions for this kit? I`m after the picture of the instructions for the hemi engine in this kit,the rest is not important. Thanks Tommy
  4. Just finished my F350 came out nice Im happy with it what do ya think ?
  5. After seeing a couple of these builds pop up, I thought Id grab one and see how it worked out. I flocked the floor mats gray, and got the door panels painted a gloss gray. It was weird, when I tried to paint the door panels the gloss gray, there were certain areas that the paint would 'run away' from, on both pieces. This plastic also seems thicker. Whenever I try to file/sand something, it seems to chew through my material and paper. I decided to scrap the metal axle and kit wheels for something a little different I have since made sure the bed rails, hood inserts, and such fit, which everything does very well. The pictures make look a little unlevel, its only because part of my mat is warped
  6. Hi guys, this is my finished Ford 49 Coupe. Thank you.
  7. Hey everyone, just thought I would share this with you all, It would be really cool to have someone do this in a Scale Model like 1:25 or 1:24. Tell me what you guys think about the Car, I personally like it!
  8. Hi guys i started my second proyect based on the Ford 49 Coupe by AMT Initially was a challenge i had than consisted in built a box stock model in just 12 hours. I started like 8am and by 2pm i hadn´t painted any part. Lost a lot of time trimming the body, shaving the door handles, and a lot of flash it had. I primed it, then painted in black as the base coat and then i used createx iridium violet as the final color. By 8pm i just painted the body, finished the chassis without weathering, some cabin details and striped the chrome paint
  9. Ok officially started after probably a year of talk and asking around about parts, throwing pictures around, and probably making myself look stupid but here she is. THE STORY- BACK IN 1978 MY GREAT GRANDFATHER CUSTOM ORDERED A FORD TRUCK. NOTHING SPECIAL HE DIDN'T SEE A NEED FOR 4X4 OR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, OR V8'S EITHER. THE TRUCK WAS ORDERED AS A F250 CUSTOM WITH 300 6 CYL A 3 SPEED MANUAL AND PRETTY MUCH NOTHING OPTIONS WISE, NOW ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I LOOKED AT THE INTERIOR SO I CANT TELL YA WHAT COLOR THAT IS. HE PUT MAILBOX LETTERS ON THE GRILL D.E.W "DONALD E WESTFALL" I CALL THE TRUCK DEWY BECAUSE OF THIS. WELL BACK IN 2012 MY GREAT GRANDPA DIED I WAS AT "THE GEAUGA COUNTY MAPLE FESTIVAL" WHICH IS MY HOMETOWNS LITTLE FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE OUR MAPLE SYRUP. MY MOM ACCIDENTALLY CALLED ME MEANING TO GET A HOLD OF MY GRANDMA AND GRANDPA TO TELL THEM. WELL THE WILL LEFT THE TRUCK TO MY GRANDPA HIS SON IN LAW, WITH NO WAY FOR MY GRANDPA TO GET IT TO HIS HOUSE I CALLED UP MY FELLOW REDNECK CHEVY BUDDY HE CALLED HIS UNCLE WHO OWNED A POWERSTROKE, AND A WEEK LATER WE HAULED IT FROM LEVITSBURG TO HUNTSBURG AND THATS WHERE THE TRUCK SITS AND HAS SAT FOR 2 ALMOST 3 YEARS NOW. MY GREAT GRANDPA HAD PLANS TO PUT DUAL EXHAUST ON IT AND HE HAD 2 DIFFERENT KINDS OF TOW MIRRORS ON IT, MY REPLICA WILL BE SPIN OFF. It will have a 300 I6 thanks to Ken of Kitchen Table Resin, The bed assembly will be a Greg Van Sickle of Facebook resin bed, tailgate, and tail lights, the old faded orange will be replaced with one coat lacquer Fiery Orange, wheels will be MAD Resin 70s truck/van dog dish, the kit Firestone tires will be used, it will have dual exhaust and the mirrors will be the mirrors from the kit. Here's some photos for ya while i get some of my progress.
  10. Does someone knows if there is a resin option for 60's Ford Econoline van/pickup?
  11. Second kit of 2015, some problems with the decals, but it's happen..
  12. Back a couple years ago, two teenage brothers named John and Joe were walking home from school. They cut through old man Noah's closed down welding business lot. They looked over in the corner, and under a tarp was something special. They could only see the bottoms of the fenders but they knew they had found something cool. They lifted the corner of the tarp and saw a mid 50's Ford pickup. It was in pretty rough shape, but appeared to be complete, minus the seat, engine, and transmission. The glass and body had bullet holes in them, the gas cap was gone, and there were a few dents. The wood from the bed was gone. And so started a plan. The next day, they stopped in and talked to Richard Noah, the son of the long since passed Elmer Noah. Richard told the boys that the truck was used as a mobile welding truck in the 60's and 70's and had been sitting since 1979. The million dollar question was "is it for sale?" Richard Noah said he could do better than that. He told them to come back with a trailer and it was theirs. The boys, not believing their luck, ran home to tell their parents of their "diamond in the rough" and the great price they paid for the "junk" as their mother put it. They got the truck home where it lived in the back yard, in pieces, for two years. Every day after school they were tinkering with it, sometimes not getting anything accomplished at all. Eventually, it had a new seat, new transmission, and a 351 with a super rare Cross Boss manifold setup sourced from a swap meet, and a new battery. They found some steel wheels and sandblasted them and repainted them. They left the rest of the truck alone, other than lowering it a bit. Last time I saw it, it was racing down Main Street. (the battery is now painted black, lol)
  13. Just got the kit a couple weeks ago. It's not a bad kit, though I don't like the thin metal emblems. Almost lost them, and on top of that I bent the metal that goes over the tail lights. Over all though it came out good.
  14. Came out pretty good.
  15. after almost a year of not touching a single model I finally decided to finish these old plastic jewels that haunted me from the depths of my closet! and as I thought well maybe I'll just paint her satin white and leave her alone I dove into a deep hole of inspiration and thought "why not try something new", everytime I'd finish a model I'd paint it and make it look out of the factory, but not no more my friends, here is my take on a revell ford pick up and my first try at weathering a model!!!! please feel free to let me know your opinions! I'd love to learn from the Jedi Masters of weathering!
  16. Think it came out looking great. Gotta love a 32 in black.
  17. My 53 ford I hate the white spots left over from the polishing rags I thought those novus polishing matts wherent susposed to do that lol
  18. I built this '72 Blue Max Mustang funny car using the MPC kit. It's mostly out of the box except for the addition of some Slixx decals and a couple of other little add-ons. You can see more pics and read all the details on my website at the link. http://www.svensworldofwheels.com/72bluemax_mustang.html
  19. Did you guys know that AMT made a 1/25 kit of the Blue Mule Ford W9000 cabover from the movie White Line fever, back in 1975????????????? Ok, the teasin is over. Here she is, the one and only model kit of the Blue Mule ever made!
  20. heres my 78 f350 dually I'm about 99% done with it all i need to do is add the last few decals and the truck itself should be done...this is going to be a hotrod magazine drag set..i might get the amt Louisville kit to haul the car on the ramp body and tow the truck on a trailer...Gooseneck trailer was built from scrap pieces laying around...enjoy
  21. I just wanted a share a couple of pictures with you guys. I've seen lots of cool stuff in this section and I think this is worth sharing. It is a '31 Ford Model A from Finland, with an original steel body that has been chopped 4,5" and channeled 4". The frame is also modified to make it lower. The engine is an Early Hemi with six chromed Stromberg carbs. Those pipes are Loud! Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH0K2my3H4I There are more cars I can post, too if anyone is interested in seeing more of these from Finland.
  22. I missed this kit the last time around...has anyone gotten the new release?
  23. I finally finished something and found a camera! Thanks, JTalmage (ps I still need to find a box for your hotrod parts o__O) Whilst taking these pictures, the removable top took a leaper off the table and the window fell out, hence the last picture. This was also my first time doing plug wires. I used small electrical wire stripped and rebraided, then painted green.
