AMT dropped the ball when they dropped this.

Franklin Mint made a 1/24 diecast, Yatming made a 1/18 and a 1/43 diecast and they all sold well. They certainly should be able to sell a plastic kit.

I myself would rather see a late 40s - early 50s Cadillac. A little more mainstream?

A '48-49 Coupe de Ville would be nice. There are a couple Cadillacs of that era available in resin, but a kit would be nice..

I won't name names, but I have it from a very reliable industry insider source that at one point the decision had been made to produce a styrene Tucker kit. But the kit never was put into production due to other, unrelated circumstances at the company. Has it not been for those other circumstances that had a big effect on the company, we would have a Tucker kit today.

So the idea of a Tucker kit isn't as crazy as some of you guys think.

There are soo many interesting vehicles which made the short list of this or that maufacturer, but the bottomline is still the same, if there's not enough interest from the distributors and retailers, it doesn't fly.

There's another breaking ground vehicle out there, also from a indipendent manufacturer, but sold in much bigger numbers and worldwide..

Tesla.....why are there no model kits from their model lineup, it would be perfect for the internet generation and greenies (read power junkies not gas monkies)tesla-s.jpg

I'd love to have a kit of the Tesla...something fresh, modern and relatively new instead of the same old, same old...

I would be interested in a Tesla kit. I saw one on campus a few weeks back and was blow away by just how elegant but yet subtle the styling is,online pictures don't do them justice.

Me too. Beautiful slippery shape. I'd chop it, slam it, and put a couple of multifuel mini-turbines in it, as powered the hybrid Jag C-X75 prototype. B)

Now that's a car we need a kit of. I personally have never been a fan of Jaguar but the C-X75 is one of the most beautiful prototypes I've ever seen. Kinda makes me think of a British NSX.

If you want a Tucker kit, go on facebook and maybe you can get one with the help of crowd funding, you will need to pick up 250-300K

When having that kind of cash in your pockets, doors will open......

;)

That's not a bad idea Luc, but you won't need that much if a curbside will work. 100-125K would probably be enough to get it done. For example 5000 pre-orders at $20.00. I think the subject matter would fit in with what Modelking is doing with Moebius to bring back some the old Johan curbside pieces like the 59 Rambler SW.

First issue is for someone to find out who owns the licensing rights to the Tucker name and design. The project won't go anywhere without a licensing agreement. Put the that together with enough pre-orders and I don't see why it couldn't happen.

Might want to start with the Tucker family. They're selling t-shirts on E-bay! Ordered one and got it yesterday with a cert of authenticity! :D

I put these up in the Hudson thread when it turned to tucker, so I'll post them here also. These are at the AACA museum in Hershey, PA.

Actually, the reason there were only 50 built is because in post-war America, the Big Three had nothing but leftover pre-war designs to sell, while the Tucker was brand new and different. The Big Three didn't like the upstart Tucker Corporation upstaging them, so they worked with Michigan senator Homer Ferguson and the SEC to put Preston Tucker on trial on bogus, trumped-up charges. Tucker was found not guilty by the jury, but it was too late. Tucker was broke and the company died.

Very well documented truth.

The Big 3 are still out to keep Tucker down, so there will be no kits. :P

Seems kind of true.

After all, modeling is as much about imagination as anything else- anyone can come up with something to do with a Tucker.

I'd buy one to build in each color, myself.

Love to see a '49 CDV and a 1950-51 Studebaker, too.

Wouldn't mind a Tesla, either. Those are sharp cars.

Kit? I'd love to have the real car!

I see one around here now and then, the guy must live locally. What a spectacularly beautiful car. And from what I have read, the performance is just about as spectacular.

Now if they could only figure out how to cut that MSRP by 50%... ;)

I got to ride in a coworker's one a while back, very quiet and smooth, felt quick. I see 2-3 of them most everyday around here and in Scottsdale, where I work. There is a cheaper compact Tesla coming in a year or two, the Model 3.

Sounds like a great project for Trumpeter!

No thanks. Most of Trumpeters car kits fall quite a bit short.

I have the resin Tucker and it is good but not well done, the greenhouse seems out of proportion. The Franklin Mint version sold very well and was excellent with all the usual opening features.

As for the design, I like it. It's a matter of personal taste. I read a few people here think it's ugly...so was the Edsel :) We had a Tucker at our car show display this year where I volunteered for a day. The number of teenagers and young adults who swooned over the car was much higher than I expected. After I gave them a brief history of the car, some of the mechanics and safety items, they were very impressed.

A full model kit would be great. A curbside would be a waste as the engine/driveline is unique to the Tucker. No other car in history used a modified helicopter engine.

Tucker model kit, sure, I would get one, Tesla model kit, sure, I would kit get too , I have to agree to what has already been said about the Tesla's , I do like them.

Last year I talked to the local Tesla dealer and was told Tesla have no intention of ever having a model of any of their cars. :(

How unfortunate and short-sighted.

Well, if someone puts the right pitch together, you might be able to change their mind.

Elon Musk is as great an entrepreneur as anyone, if not greater; honestly, in many respects, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to call him a visionary. I think, from what I've seen of him, that if someone displayed enough of an entrepreneurial spirit in the proposal, that minds could be changed.

Unless it comes from someone in the corporate office, that really does not mean anything, walk into a random a Chevy dealership and ask about if there are any C7 model kits coming, and I bet they will tell you no
