I even love the dog dish caps instead of wires on it.
Richard Bartrop Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 They also did a XKSS, but it always seems to be hard to find, so on the subject of kits that need to be brought back:

espo Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I would like to see the Revell '49 Mercury Woody reissued. Maybe even the '49 Mercury custom with the chopped top also.
Richard Bartrop Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 I'd like to see Revell crank out a some more of the custom '48 Ford kits. Even if '48 Fords aren't your thing, it's a great source of parts for the traditional builder.

The Woody, okay. That just needs the AMT front bumper to be more correct. The chopped custom can die a slow death. Great parts donor, but the body is so bad that I pitched it in the trash. I attempted corrections and just gave up. 13 minutes ago, Richard Bartrop said: I'd like to see Revell crank out a some more of the custom '48 Ford kits. The 48 is a lot better than the Mercury and the rear quarter windows are the only thing really needing fixed

MPC 1754 Motown Missle... | Scale Auto Model Kit Reviews & Reference (proboards.com) The Torqueflite trans was in the '80's 'Hemi Cuda" and "Pro Street Barracuda" reissues. The hood was last seen in the Pro Street Barracuda and Auto Scape Barracuda. The intake parts, dual distributors, wheelie bars and side windows haven't been seen since the original Missile release. I wonder what's left of this tool? Maybe it's worth a annual style retro release with new decals, box art and nice tires? Didn't they announce that they were re-releasing the Snap Fast Plus version some time ago?

A concern that I have not expressed before with the new Revell Company and being based in Europe is that they may not have the same interest in what consumers on the North American Continent are interested in purchasing. I hope I'm wrong on this and only time will tell. I feel in all fairness to Revell that with everything they maybe going thru with the combining of the two companies some artistic and marketing staff may no longer have the influence they once had. I'm encouraged by their new Chevelle offerings and the new XKE with left hand drive is a good sign to me that in time things may get better. In the short term maybe they will offer some popular reissues with some new options. This would offer them some revenue with minimal investment.

I hope they revise the grille area, particularly the headlight buckets, if they do, but I'm not holding my breath.

Me too. This tool would be worth a bit of fixing (headlight buckets, bumpers, turn signal lenses for the lower grille), but it would probably sell as a snap fast kit in it's current form anyway. If they do put it out again, they should at least give it the expanded decal set treatment...

Was the Pontiac changed to the Nova for the 77 model year? I thought they had concurrent releases, maybe not. Yes, it's a 76, but at least two people really wanted a mid 70s Pontiac: Edited January 7, 2021 by Erik Smith
Oldcarfan27 Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 (edited) They did the Pontiac 3 times! Probably between Nova annuals. Hard to believe they kept modifying tooling back and forth between Chevys and Pontiacs. There must've been separate tooling inserts. Something must still be left (I hope)! Very little is different between the Nova and Ventura. Mostly the nose, hood and taillights. Pretty much everything else is from the Nova kit. Edited January 7, 2021 by Oldcarfan27

The Pontiac’s were 75, 76, 77 - so, I guess the mold was changed after the 77 Pontiac? I wouldn’t mind if they backdated the Nova to 77 either. Is there much to change?

Hood would work , BUT , the front panel below the headlights is different and that's molded to the body. If it wasn't for that it would be a simple matter of swapping grilles.
Mike999 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 On the subject of those Revell Classics, I'd like to see this German beauty again. I think Revell-Germany has released it twice, but a long time ago. It's hard to find and goes for big bucks on eBay.
