This is what the new format looks like on my Explorer. Maybe my version is too old. Anyway, it works fine on Google Chrome.

I'm having the exact same issue,  using IE version 11 in Windows 7.  I'm hoping it will get fixed.   No issues with Chrome so far ....

Yeah, on the computer at work which only has IE it's doing the same thing.

No issues on anything else, though, luckily I only have to deal with this computer on Saturdays. I try to avoid IE as much as possible.

*edit* - I found the fix - take modelcarsmag.com OUT of Compatibility View.

I'm having no problem viewing the new format at all as I'm using Firefox. The only beef I have with the layout is how it functions on my iPhone. I like to be able to go to the latest post particularly if it's a topic I've already read from the beginning. On the mobile end of it, there's no way to be able to do that as it always wants to take you to the first post.

Just a little annoying..............

Mine is working fine in Chrome and that's all that matters.   If you don't have Google Chrome, it's a free download and it works much better than IE everywhere!

On the old system my "View New Content" button didn't work for my account (it worked fine if I wasn't logged in) and Dave couldn't figure out why.  Now it works fine! Which is a great thing since that was always the first thing I'd hit when I sat down to view the board.

Notifications never worked for me.  I just received two notifications from PMs so that's also a good thing.

A lot of the functions now are labeled more clearly, and are easier to use.

And it just rocks on my Iphone!

Good upgrade!    We have to keep moving forward.   More people are using mobile devices as their primary.

And there are those little things that Gregg is figuring out one at a time.  It was best to bring up the system, then implement them one at a time.  Otherwise if he brought up the who shabang at once, and it didn't work, it would be much harder to troubleshoot.

If you don't keep up with software releases,  soon enough your application won't work on newer browsers and operating systems and will fall out of support.  At work I'm involved with a major software upgrade across all the manufacturing sites.  The version is 5 years old,  running on obsolete servers that are in danger of failing, and the software version just fell out of support.  There is no way we could stay that way.   The new version answers many things that are lacking on the old system and we're taking the opportunity to add new functionality.  And there are folks still screaming bloody murder that they want to keep the old system!

IE has always been problematic here. In the off topic section there is pinned thread for troubleshooting issues. The first recommendation is to not use IE. I'm writihg this on an android tablet using chrome and also accessing the forum with and iphone with safari.  Both seem to work well.

Yeah Tom, some folks just don't like change------I can understand that.

At the same time, where would be if we were "stuck" with the same old things? I run into this on my job as I'm a machine operator, and the machines are run by------you guessed it....outdated software. I've been saying for months that if they want to improve their efficiency, they're going to have to spend the time and the money to improve on what we have, and not "hope" that it keeps working.

We've already had some serious downtime issues, and recently when we had a customer complaint about something that wasn't quite right, now all of a sudden there's a mad rush to fix what should have been fixed long ago.

I like the new layout------just a couple little bugs here and there that need tweaking, but it's all good.

That's the situation with the software upgrade I'm involved in!   It has become a major project because the company ignored the small incremental software updates for the past five years.  They could've done the incrementals almost invisibly and for little cost.   Now it's time to pay the piper!

My only complaint on the new format...can't find "My Content" under my profile.

I used this to catch up on posts I was following plus those I had posted.

Made life a lot easier than scrolling through everything to find them.

It works perfect on my laptop. I really like the new format. Those of you using i.e., I here Microsloth is going to discontinue  using it. I'm using Chrome on Linux. I also have Firefox installed, but Chrome is much faster.

I'm already getting to like the new format! I use a Samsung tablet...my firstis bigger sand only "computer". I know almost NOTHING about all the techno terminology,  since I bought the tablet, I've just tried to figure stuff out with NOBODY helping me out.   But the new format seems to offer more options and the size of the photos  is bigger, much to my delight! If I can adapt to change, anybody can.

Hi Gregg (MCM master),

Unsure where to post this but was wondering if its possible to have a save draft option on posts?  Not so much for replies to topics but when creating an initial topic.

It takes me a bit to formulate thoughts, pics etc when I'm wanting to post in either under glass or workbench sections.

For now I simply do em offline in vi or something and copy when ready.

OK, thanks Brett! I was clicking on the person's picture at first and kept going to their profile........I couldn't see that the time and the picture shown were delineated links. :)

Sorry, I think this setup inhales vigorously.  Anybody really buying that "It's to attract younger members" noise?  If they're interested in models, they'll find the sites.  They're good at stuff like that.

I'm running Google Chrome and, among other annoyances, can't see any place to click for new content.

I'm on a couple of sites that use this program . Yes, the re design took some getting used to . Of course too, Pro-Boards had a similar re design and I know that drove many away . Oh well, I need another coffee ..........

New Content, top right just below the search bar.

Or the star if you're on  mobile.

I don't think the switch is to attract younger members directly, it's so the site works better on mobile devices which are being used more and more by users of all ages, especially younger people.

One change I really like is that you can now quote a reply with a quote in it and it shows them both, the old way just quoted the single post, so sometimes you'd lose the context of the quote.

Accidental text above the quote.

Yes that is a really cool feature.  And one I just discovered is that when you are looking at a list of threads, like your "New Content", after you view a thread and hit the back button to go back to the list, it now has that thread marked as read.  The old system didn't do that and you had to know where you were on the list and hit refresh every so often to see what you had read.

I'm finding posting pictures a hassle right now. I'll figure it out….. Might be a MAC thing, might be me.

And yes, the lack of a preview button. For someone like myself that (when he's building….) likes to post how-to / in-progress threads with photos and text the no preview feature is an inconvenience.

I installed Firefox and the forum works, except that I can not sign out of it. I click on sign out, and when I come back hours or a day later, I'm still signed in. I've been signed in since Wednesday. Any ideas?

Also, I don't see any way to edit my signature in the profile section. ???

OK

I tried to enter a new topic, but can't load photos from Fotki!

I miss the "little magic button" from the old version

The "Drag files here" doesn't work or am I missing sumthin'

plus...I need the "Preview Post" back, if not things could look ugly...
