Mine's in the small bedroom at the front of the house, yes it could be a spare bedroom, but then people would have an excuse to come and stay, and I'd rather build models,

Lol !!!!! Good one! Mines in the garage...heated for winter, air conditioned in summer,  its too small for a real car, so its just for plastic ones!!

I have a section of the downstairs family room partitioned off for model stuff . It has pocket doors I can close and no one sees anything

The previous owner of our house had foster children so they added two bedrooms upstairs, giving us six bedrooms. There is also three full bathrooms on that floor!   The two small ones that were added are hobby rooms now.  One is my model room and the other one is my wife's scrap book / picture room.

I use one of the bedrooms as a den/hobby room and it works out well for me. I try to do most of my spray painting outside, but sometimes I have to improvise and spray in the house. This setup has worked for me for over 20 years.

I converted a utility closet in the basement into my modeling work shop.

In the summer I'm in the garage. But for the winter months I had to move into the kitchen. My garage is insulated, but currently not heated. Which doesn't work well in a Canadian winter!

So now I have a set up that I can easily set up and put away. Not optimal, and I can't spray paint anything for a while.

Garage heater is on the list of things to do this spring.

Re-located from the West Coast to the East last year.  When I went house-hunting, I told the realtor I was only interested in seeing houses with a basement or workshop area.

Bought a place with a huge mostly-finished basement. Or a "basement and a half." Coming down the stairs, you turn left into the smaller basement, and right into the big basement. I've only been living here since August but I really like it.

The big basement has plenty of fluorescent lights and 2 big sliding windows, so lots of light.  I made a "window board" for venting the spray booth. The basement also has a door to the outside, which is nice to open up on warm days.  The heat/AC ducts are exposed overhead, so it's pretty comfortable all the time.

Along with room to work, I now have room to store all the unbuilt kits. And the scale model reference library!

Well one BIG advantage of being single all these years, is that I get to have one of the bedrooms in my house as my "model room". This is on the second floor facing the front of my house.

No, it is NOT this neat now, and the Pocher kit is long gone! The third floor of my place is where all the unbuilt models are. They were in the basement, but my better sense told me to put them on the top floor. Thank goodness I did as my place was flooded back in 2011 from Tropical Storm Lee, and EVERYTHING would have been ruined had I kept them there as I had over five feet of water inundate the basement. :(

Funny thing about this saying,  Why are you not allowed to be happy?

Just wondering if you let her park in the garage? I would tell her that the SQ footing of the extra room is coming out of her half of the garage and use that.

Sorry When I started my Rant I forgot to say I build on a desk in the Dining Room. Paint outside

My spare bedroom is the hobby room and also have a room in the basement that I use too. I have a dust collecter with filters that works great when I sand parts and car bodies also works great for the paint fumes. That stuff is in the basement room. I do my fine detail and end of project work in the spare bedroom. One thing that I've been noticing lately about my hobby area is it seems to be getting smaller and smaller and I haven't been accumulating anything Xtra. Alright. Thanks everyone.

I have the whole cellar of our house, about 28 x 44. I have a couple benches set up, one for building kits, and the other for building guns. I have plenty of room for storage of parts for both as well as my stash of kits and literally hundreds of pounds of model parts and pieces. The cellar is bone dry, bright, warm and is my haven where I spend more and more time every day. My finished builds are displayed upstairs in several glass barrister cases. Still, though, it DOES seem at times that there is not enough room!

A very tiny spare bedroom currently functions as my home office/modeling room...about 8 x 10.   Next house will have 4-5 bedrooms and a finished basement, so I plan to have much more space for modeling.

I have a desk in my den. That is where I do 90% of my building. I paint at a small table near our kitchen's bay window, where I have a high output fan to blow out fumes.

The dining room table.

We still have spots on our dining room table where I spilled a little lacquer thinner and took off the finish
