Hey everyone. What are your 2016 building plans. My plans are to start building the custom show cars of the 1960's. Cars like the ones Ed Roth built. As a kid in the 60's, I did not have the skills or the money to buy them. Mowing yards did not support models and slot cars. Most of my money went to slot cars.

That is a good question.

My plans are to rebuild a bunch of my now junker models I built growing up. I have never thrown anything out & have been piecing together all the models I tried to destroy over the years.

Also, I have a few early 60's models that were given to me in various states of disrepair. I want to rebuild all of these too.

Guess I am on a nostalgia trip this year. :)

I would like to completely build a model.

Started a bunch, but need to actually finish one.

Right now I need to work on getting a space to build though. Tried to use the closed laptop as a bench, didn't work well.

2016?

Thanks God that's still 25 years away...
I'm still working on last year's backlog, i.e. 1990.

Well considering I have just come back to the hobby. I have just started to do a replica of a mates street registered drag car (Nissan R32 Skyline GTR)......will be taking my time on it as I's just getting back into it.

Tough I will be showing my progress on another thread.

Just a curious question to people......on average how long does it take for YOU to complete a model ??????

I've been able to get a decent model done in as little as about ten hours.

I still have projects I've been working on since junior high school.

It's all relative.

My plans are to finish my Allison powered Charger.

My Corvette whatcha-ma-callit track car that I have dubbed "Skinnie Minnie"

and my Cannonballer for this year.

A couple of box stock type builds are not out of the question either. I just got these two in primer.

I actually plan to get to the  bench a few times this spring , before 1/1 show car season starts back up. I am restoring a 1/1 1968 Charger RT for a client and the bodyman has it now for final work and paint. I Just talked to him this morning. He plans to get it back to me by early / mid  march, then I will be on it full time to get it done by summer.

So before then I have maybe a half dozen builds in various stages of complettion. I want to get them all done before starting anything new.

Then the plan is restore  a few early annauls I have .

in the que to finish are -

AMT 1971 Duster , to replicate my little brothers actual car

Johan 1962 Dodge as the Blairs Speed shop car.

Johan 1970 Road Runner to replicate my old car

MPC 1970 Challenger to replicate another one of my old cars

Polar Lights Mazmanian 1968 Cuda funnycar, one of the clear red molded  body cars.

Then move to a few builtups I want to work on

SMP 1958 Buick convertible annual

SMP 1959 Corvette

At least this is my plan,,,but we all know how well plans work out

I just need to actually get some kits completed. I have seven on the go right now, in various stages of completion. If I can just get those all finished, then I'll be happy.

Those are some pretty good plans for the year. It will be cool to do a recap at the end of the year to see how tings turned out.

I plan on continuing working on my vintage kit stash focusing mainly on mid to late 60s full sized cars, possibly punctuated with a couple of modern builds.

I have a bunch of rare kits from Johan & MPC that I hope to get built this year, but the way things have been going, realistically, I hope to finish a half dozen of them.

These are the ones I hope to build this year.

MPC '66 & '67 Bonnevilles.

Johan '65, '66 & '67 Plymouth Furys.

Johan '66 & '67 Chrysler 300s.

AMT 1967 Ford Galaxie.

There are a bunch of other ones as well, but this is where I'd like to focus.
