Brianl Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 We only have a small club, a dozen or so members but they produce some awesome models Richard's Mercedes 300SL by Tamiya is one of the best. Moulding & detail on the kit is superb. Richard said the kit was probably Tamiya's best. Colour is Tamiya Titanium Silver which brings up the lines beautifully. Check out the badgework & the hubcaps (hand painted). I took a lot of photos because it looked so good & I couldn't decide on the best so you got the lot! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have . Brian
Bennyg Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Wow! That looks awesome. After I get my spray booth, I'll finish mine. Ben
Crazy Ed Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Brian, Great Pictures and Richard is a Craftsman in both Build quality and Paint finish.
bbowser Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Really nice work. First one of these I've seen built.
sjordan2 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Great job. Painting the hubcaps is quite an accomplishment.
aurfalien Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Wow, perfection!Inspirational for sure.Makes me wanna get one but I've models that most likely won't be touched in my life time.
BVC500 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) Beautiful, and very good job! The only thing that is distracting is the color of the wheels. They would look better in body color like the hubcaps than the aluminum silver. Edited January 23, 2016 by BVC500
Pete J. Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Very nice build. Super clean and well presented. Love this kit. A couple of the photos show the one mistake that I think Tamiya made with this kit. You can see the seat backs are hollow through the rear window. I don't understand why Tamiya would go to all the efforts that they did and not give you a simple panel to fill in the back of the seat. Another option would be to include the custom luggage that you could get with the real car.
Phildaupho Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Very realistic looking. Great to see one of these completed.
sjordan2 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) One small oversight in the kit... It has radio speakers in the door jambs but no radio. Very simple to fix - just check out a dashboard image and you can make your own (it hangs under the middle of the dash in a leather/Tex covered mount). PS. The antenna would be installed in the top right cowling at the corner of the hood. Here's a Becker Mexico from a Gullwing Edited January 23, 2016 by sjordan2
1hobby1 Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 The build is awesome and the paint job is immaculate.
buildnething Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 After all the reviews and builds I have seen of this kit, it confirms, this kit is a must have! It looks simply inspiring! I dont even care for Mercedes but I want to build this kit. Just like yours.
Dragline Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Makes me want to break mine out and get cracking on it. Very nicely executed.
Silver Foxx Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I have seen this build first hand and it really is a beautifully built model , and Tamiya is to be congratulated for producing such a great kit .
