Spex84 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Lol. ALL of my projects are on the shelf of doom right now. I'm just itching to get some bench time and get some of them rolling again. About a dozen projects in total...
lghtngyello03 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Stalled out due to my 1:1 go fast car, needing a head gasket resulting in mods that weren't needed but done anyways because it was apart, lol. Started this in February, crappy thing is, I could probably take a couple of days to a week and finish it and have it looking schweet. I'll get back started as soon as I get finished getting my 1:1 dyno tuned. And I started this one in Christmas of 2015, and got pissed off at it with some fitment issues, so I started the Supra....again, probably could spend a week and be finished with it.

I'm mostly trying to figure out the finish. Most of my stuff has a kind of style to it. I'm not sure how to define it. But right now it's just a custom car. I'm trying to figure out the "style" part. Sometimes that takes a while.
W-409 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 (edited) Oh yeah I have lots of these! I have a huge pile of projects so most of them are stalled at one point or another. Every one of them is going to be completed though, the big question just is.... When? Here are a few examples. '60 Plymouth Fury Mild Custom: The Ramchargers' '61 Dodge Phoenix: '58 Chevy Sedan Delivery Pro Street: '70 Ford Torino E/S: I have lots of more as well... Edited May 19, 2016 by W-409
Nytrozilla Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Hey Niko, I've got a stalled Sedan Delivery I forgot about. Great minds think alike.
da_ashman Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Great Thread! This year I decided to finish some of my stalled projects, as of end of March I'd completed 3 news builds... but so far Ive managed to finish 3 stalled projects, Toyota 86 Rocket Bunny, Ford GT90 & Tamiya Mini. Still many many to go... Heres the latest one ive just pulled out to finish off. Tamiya F50 - painted about 8yrs ago
Tom Geiger Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 I'm up to two Shelves of Doom. I keep my unfinished projects right up on the shelves over my workbench so I have to look at them, and cannot forget them! This one was started a long time ago, back when 1960 Plymouth wagons were cheap enough to cut in half. It's actually on my work bench now, it was my Holiday Amnesty car for 2015, and it needed too much reworking to get it done. So it's still on the bench, and I'm not getting a lot of bench time due to a very busy year so far! The junker Mustang. It was started back in the last century. Just a few years old, but I do have to finish this one!
Snake45 Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Here are two more of mine. They're not quite 10 years old but rapidly approaching it, but both definitely stalled. In both cases, I've got many many hours in doing the HARD work, and with that done, I lost interest and moved on. Both of these could now be finished up as "normal" kits. Someday..... 1. AMT '41 Willys pickup with the ill-fitting front end glued on and smoothed in, and then the hood cut out, the edges filled and carefully mated. 2. Revell second-issue '70 AAR Cuda, with the roof corrected by cutting it in half and stretching it about 1/8".
dshue76 Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 This is one that I work on as inspiration hits, or I find a part that will go with it. The boom was built first in 1999. It has a LN 8000 hood grafted to a 91 F 350 body. The frame, engine, bed, hood, front suspension and wheels are from the LN 8000 Shorthauler. The rears are from the AMT Peterbilt big stick wrecker. With the new reissue of the 91 F 350 duallie I now have decals for it and a support truck to match it. I've gone years without touching it. But that's ok, I think going slow has led to things just falling in place. The cab was from a glue bomb ebay parts kit, the rears came from an accident that my Pete wrecker was involved in, hydraulic hoses are leftovers from the many truck kits I've done, the hood was from the first LN8000 Shorthauler I ever built( the box got turned into a trailer). I did buy a new Shorthauler for the frame, bed and another set of wheels. I also scrutinize left over parts from cars and trucks to see if they will work with this in any way. I do think that I will start working on it soon though since I already have just about everything needed to complete it and most of the scratch building is done. I still have to build the control panel but that should be easy, it will look like it can swing to both operating positions but will stay on the left. And I need to shorten the boom sections so they don't overhang the bed as far, it wouldn't be legal as is without oversize load signs. I think as they are it scales out to 8 ft. I'm also considering covering the bed in real wood planks or scratch building a new bed with a wood floor.
gtx6970 Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 (edited) This one has been on the stalled list WAAAAAAY to long . And its getting extremely close to the next in line spot. Its been in this exact same condition , for something like 15 years or so. Original issue Johan 1970 Roadrunner . Going to be a replica of my old car. Black 1970 - Road Runner, 440 six barrel 4 spd. Mine was a black bench seat interior so I am planning to modify the revell interior to fit this body Edited May 20, 2016 by gtx6970

When I started this '61 Falcon (a sloppy green builtup I got at an Old Town Escorts meet), it was intended to be a current-style street machine. Now it's a nostalgic '70s street machine. Mishmosh of Pinto, Mustang II and SC/Rambler bits in the interior and chassis; grille was modded with sections cut from a '62 Cutlass grille and '76 Eldo headlights. Four-lugs in the front, five-lugs in the back . I may rethink that SBF engine, or at least beef it up. Assembled with the miracle of masking tape: The spoiler does need to be finessed a bit...
Mark Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 AMT '60 Comet, mid-Sixties gasser...Olds powered, maximum engine setback and crankshaft centerline height per the rules of the day. The interior is gutted (front and rear seats originally molded in as a unit), exhaust detail removed from the chassis, everything from the firewall forward pretty much scratched. The body was a glue bomb, I spent a number of hours grinding out and sanding off glue, and filling accessory holes. The original steering box placement clashed with where the headers are going, have a new setup worked out but haven't gotten around to doing anything with it...
MeatMan Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I've got mine too! I hope to finish this some time this year for my 1956 builds (my birth year!). The wheels looked out of proportion and I haven't figured out replacements. Any ideas?
MrObsessive Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 (edited) I've got a couple I'd like to get back to when the ambition truly strikes. This one............... A '55 Ford Victoria which was a very poorly attempted conversion I rescued off of eBay. I totally redid the roof to suit the lower body better than was attempted, but much to my dismay, the bodywork that I did is showing right through the paint. I guess my attempt at putting on a barrier coat with Future was not good enough. Nevertheless, I intend to totally strip this one down to bare plastic, fix the bodywork (and make some corrections) and repaint the whole works in the same colors. Then there's this one that had me pulling what little hair I have left out........... A resin '64 Olds Cutlass that I was trying to turn into a 442. Practically everything was done on it 'cept the hood was severely warped. I bought another hood from Modelhaus, and that one warped too after I painted it. I learned that thin resin hoods like this need to be painted on both sides to keep the solvents "balanced" and not pull the resin one way or the other. Kinda makes sense, but I've since got a nice original unpainted hood off eBay so that one should work out. Getting a proper air cleaner was a challenge as well as every time I'd see one on the 'Bay, it would be included with other parts and I'd get outbid. Well, Ron Hamilton mentioned to me that the air cleaner in Revell's '65 Chevy kit was 'bout identical to the '64 Olds, and would work with little tweaking. I got one from him, and now once the ambition strikes again, I can finish this one up. I may strip this one too and repaint it. I'm not that thrilled with the somewhat heavy metallic in the paint, and I may stop by my go-to local paint guy and see if he can mix me this particular color with finer metallic flakes. The original paint came from another source in town, and after the last experience I had with them, I won't be going to them again. There are a few more that could post, but these came to mind immediately as I see them each time I go into my model room. Sooooo many builds...........so little time! Are you sure that the cat did step on the hood? They have been known to do that. Glad to help with the air cleaner. I have a dilapidated '64 Olds convertible I would like to resurrect. It is styrene, and not resin. I have a couple of ideas for a quick, cheap restoration. I have to strip the Testors' yellow brush paint off of it, and re-create the windshield header.
Johnt671 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I only have one. Its a Lindberg Stutz race car. I have it almost done, but I don't have the skill to paint the tires black. I didn't like the plastic wood dashboard and floorboard so I made them out of wood, stained to match the red paint. My daughter made a resin casting of the gauges for me, but I can't finish tires.
TooOld Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I've got six stalled projects but the only one I'm planning on finishing is this one . It's my completely scratchbuilt Mr Unswitchable .

Snake45 Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 What's the story on that '69 Falcon? Looks interesting.I have NO interest in dirt track, but I couldn't resist buying one of those kits, thinking I could do SOMETHING with it.
